    Beautiful fall woodlands, pizza, and a brewery. What a great ride. I would be tempted to loop it round and round for a week or so, and even then be sorry to quit. Thanks for a great video.

      It was awesome! We did spend a week out there beyond just this ride.
      Cheers!

    Super vid. Thats the kind of America that I could really love experiencing, what an awesome place the autumn/fall, colors/colours. Two cycling cultures separated by a common language, thats my kind of cycling, but I live in Scotland and its different here.

      It was the perfect time of year to be in that part of the country - and the routes were awesome!

    Oh this looks fun. Im new to bike packing. I did't know there were big events like this nearby.

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah - there are a lot more organized rides like this out there these days. We tend to plan most of our rides ourselves- but doing a few of these a year is really fun too.

      @@TimFitzwater Yeah it looks like a lot of fun. I will also likely ride with only 1 or 2 others, but a big event like that would be lots of fun. Mainly I'm surprised by how popular this sport is. In fact- a bike shop nearby has branded itself as the bike-packing shop.

    Love your channel. You and your gang of riders have helped me solidify my true biking self. Your channel captures that essence of bicycling. Also, all the good beer that awaits after a long or short day of bicycling is a plus.

      Right. Tim's videos have me looking through my pile of bike parts, picking out the pieces to make a trail bike.

    I think I was the viewer who prevented you from taking video of the waterfall. Sorry about that Tim. Anyway, great coverage of the event. Hope to see you there next year.

    the Connecticut woods and Southern NY are full of ticks all year round. I've picked up ticks on the OCA in January. Treat your gear and clothing with Permethrin or environmentally safe Wondercide

    Very cool. I rarely see other riders with bags here. So there's legal free camping along the Salmon River? I've fished that, nice area.

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater  ปีที่แล้ว

      This ride was all about carrying stuff. The organizer has a bag company that manufactures right there in CT. He said the camping was a grey area and that absolutely everything needed to be packed back out. We left no trace.

      Nutmeg was organized by Ron “UltraRomance” from Ultra Dynamico tires. We just planned a whole week around it.

    What are these bags on the rear? I just tried googling and can't find anything like it, but everyone you are with has something similar. All I can find is narrow bag that are lower capacity.

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater  ปีที่แล้ว

      So they are called “Carradice-style bags” after the British company that invented them back in the day. Most of ours are made by Swift Industries. The big model is the Zeitgeist. I use them on the bars and the saddle.

    • @dharmapunk777
      @dharmapunk777 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TimFitzwater Thanks Tim. Not sure the Zeitgeist has a large enough capacity. Basically looking for a bag that I can commute to work and bring everything I need for gym, meals, laptop, etc. I've used panniers for years, but they have their limitations. I wanna bring all that stuff, but keep my bike light and agile. Wondering if I can borrow ideas from bikepacking community, or better off with a large messenger bag.

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater  ปีที่แล้ว

      The only bar bag of this style that would be bigger is by Ron's Bikes - made in CT. ronsbikes.com/products/copy-of-fabios-tech-chest-large
