1)x=mL/m+M 2)the muzzle velocity, or the velo with which man jumps off trolley, is wrt to the gun/trolley, convert it wrt ground frame to conserve momentum 3) explosion concept,the com just after colissson will continue on its proectile path both the pieces should hit the ground at the same time, if one htis before, then it will have a normal force acting on it disrupiting the momentum conservation concept due to no net exetrnal force 5) Reduce mass concept(m red=m1m2/m1+m2), reduced mass eqn mein u are left with only 1 block with mass reduced mass, and u can apply energy conservation directly without momentum conservation, normal method is to conserve momentum at maximum compression=initial state, and then solve for energy equation
