Employee tracking, specifically in terms of keyboard strokes or screenshots, are terrible for measuring productivity. Employees should be given tasks for the day. Then managers can see if they accomplish those the next day. If they did, managers can see if they can give more. If they can't, managers can offer coaching. Trust in this situation helps both parties. Instead of investing in tracking software, provide employees tools and resources for achieving goals whilst working remotely
Agreed. I worked for a company that monitored our screens and it became so toxic there that half the people left. We felt so disconnected from the company and the team spirit just disappeared.
@@TheChannelJ1 Yeah, typically they don't stay for long. Amazon has been critisized a lot for this, and I understand why. Amazon has a bad reputation because of this. It is a bad practice! When people are working their ass off trying to meet unrealistic targets, the boss sits comfortably at home while watching them. If someone gets behind, he is in risk of getting fired. If people seem to be able to meet the target, the boss just turns the "Work faster" nob a little. Problem is, there will always be people in need of any kind of job they can find. Poor people with little to no choice. Typically the pay is low as well, and the threat of being fired is imminent. These companies exploits those people. It is a great way to exploit people.
@@jedisenpei855 Amazon does have bad business practices, I agree, however tracking when your employee is actually working is smart. How else will you know if they are doing their job? Please don't say trust. This ain't a family. An employer is paying you for your labor, the last thing an employer needs is someone clocking in 20 hours of work when they only did 10.
@@TheChannelJ1 I will say trust. to certain degree. Employees will do a much better job if you trust them. If the manager cannot motivate the employees, he is a bad manager. You need happy employees or else they will do bad work. Errors will be made. They need motivation. If their bag is hurting, and they still need to work fast, they will loose all motivation. Tracking and micromanagement is bad for motivation. They will find loop holes or quit in the end. It worked before tracking software became available, so it could still work. It is all the responsibility of the manager. Set deadlines and reward good work. Look for results. If the employee is doing a bad job, the results will be bad in the end and vice versa.
Great information! Thank you for sharing. I would encourage you to work on your speaking cadence. It's staccato here; that makes it very unpleasant to listen to what you're saying even though what you're saying is useful and would likely help many people searching for this topic.
Using time tracking software and giving employee this fear of not using any other tool apart from something related to work, than can leads to a Toxic work culture
This why I don't work for "The Man" anymore and have my own business. This is why my teachers had a hard time with me cause I never raise my hand to go to the bathroom I just go. And somebody watching me na I pass. But thanks I can educate my wife on this cause she still in that mindset of working and someone telling her when to go on vacation. I tell her dont bring that computer inside leave it in your car. Good presentation though
That's a great question. It may depend on the sofware but check out employee productivity monitoring tools like Hubstaff, RoboHead, or Time Doctor. For more on this topic check out this blog post. blog.bernieportal.com/track-employee-remote-work-engagement Thanks for watching!
I am a superstar employee. My normal productivity is 200% and I regularly share insights to my team of 50 workers on how to improve their productivity by working smarter. HOWEVER, I will immediately put all these to a complete stop as soon as they implement this kind of monitoring.

I'd quit on the spot if any company tried to monitor my stuff.
I can't work for someone who can't trust me and invades my privacy.
It's not an invasion of privacy. If you sign a contract to work at a job you a waving your right to privacy.

That is disgusting. Nobody wants to work for a company that tracks their employees.
People work for companies that track them all the time. Like the company Amazon and many others.

It's HERE!!
We use TMetric, it's a simple and helpful tool for managing remote employees and their time.
I hope you tell the employees exactly what you know about them so they have the opportunity to quit as soon as possible.
