Thanks! Any tips or drills just for the toss so that the ball is released consistently at the right moment, placement and height? How does one avoid a toss that's too low? Ball that curves back? Or to the left or right? !

Great explanation of the loading position. Earlier today, I actually tried to load my serve much more during the knee bend, and for the first time, the ball came close to the back fence after the first bounce. The impact of that loading is enormous.

Awesome! Those are the things I love to hear!

Meike, Madison has a great serve : high ball toss; full service motion. Can one have a great serve with an abbreviated service motion and a low ball toss?

You're potentially not getting as much power on the ball but you should be fine in terms of spin and placement. And that's a lot to start the point out with well.

I noticed she didn’t have continued pronation after contact, i.e. the hitting side of the racket face never pointing to the right side fence. Thoughts?

madison is one of the very very few WTA players who use a platform stance

Like your assessment. For recreational level I think you could say it’s perfect but for professional level you could critic a bit. I think her elbow is a little bit too low at trophy position before launching (at 5.30). If she can improve this it may add some miles to it, don’t you think? She had an amazing serve in AO, but not because of the power rather because of the placement in my observation. But agreed her serve is (almost) perfect, super effective and beautiful too. Thanks for the video. I enjoyed watching it.

Yes, that might be arguable. But it's such a fine distinction that would (for the most part) be getting into the weds a bit too much for my purposes. I'd be happy if the low elbow was my only problem in teaching :-)

You are quite right on the low elbow observation; with the exception that 5:30 isn't the trophy position anymore, since she has started to drive the legs (back leg in particular) and the racquet is beginning to enter the real drop. She is doing what Jeff Salzenstein calls an "elbow drop", and you find it in the serves of Tsitsipas and Sakkari. It's a way of increasing the runway of the racquet path up to contact, and is used to help generate power (but it is actually considered an inefficiency). Still a great serve, but imo Barty has superior technique.

She doesn't jump very high, though. Could get another few inches of angle down if she jumped a little higher, right?

The jump comes from loading properly and I would say she gets the max load out of her legs. She might get a a few more miles on it perhaps, but the way she served at the Aussie Open was really a lot about accuracy and that served her well

@@MeikeBabelTennis Oh, no criticism, that serve 'served' her very well.

noticed she's pushing up with front leg.
    Is It?

I think she has the most beautiful serve form in the world. I am trying to follow her but it is almost impossible to do that by myself.

That cocking position is so hard to get right!

I agree. Especially, if you have physical limitations (lack of mobility, flexibility etc). After my shoulder surgeries, I'm not getting it quite as much anymore.

Putting aside her success... her throw is way too high. Yes it works for her, but for 90% no it does not.
