- Storklet were the first time alone at home. That is very early. They are only 13 days old. They were very hungry, so Kati flew away to look for food. This is a big risk for the little ones, they can not defend themselves yet. Not against a goshawk. One lives in this area. He visited this nest every year.

How much a mother feels for its' offspring is amazingly natural,lovely sights of super feed by big mother is wonderful to watch-love ,love --care,care-so amazing..it is..!
Except when she decides to eat the smallest baby
Eat the smallest one, or it just decides one or two have to go. Im not talking about just throwing it out of the nest for a quick death either. It would rather brutally torture it for around 20 minutes or so till the chick either sucumbs to its injuries, or commits suiced by jumping off.

Such a beautiful bird
The bird at the upper side is having one heck of a time trying to swallow that huge fish he ate. I think he’s having trouble breathing or choking on it. It’s kind of comical watching him moving this way and that trying to get that fish down.

Karl II is the new male. Karl did not return from his migration. We think he is dead.
Those three are really keeping her busy. I thought at first she just had one but they kept coming. Mother Nature is amazing!
The middle one looks like it has a fish stuck it its throat.

Have you watched songbird chicks eat and turn around in the nest and raise their butts up then momma plucks out their poop and swallows it...imagine if you saw humans doing THAT at KFC! Bad Grandpa movie

Did you find out?The fish were almost all stuck in the bird's throat and were not eaten at all.I fear the birds will choke to death.

First time seeing something like this upclose !!
These are indeed flying dinosaurs.
These storklets are so cute and funny . The babies are so full with the fish they ate ( which where almost as big as them ) and can barely move around and yet are still pestering the parent for more food . Was interesting in the beginning when the parent first arrives back and the storklets just start moving about in the nest , however the second one storklet makes a noise and starts clacking it’s bill all the other storkets start in and then the parent starts to look for the best place to serve up the meal . That fish the parent ate none of these storklets would have been able to ever eat I mean it was a sizeable fish .
They about to choke and pass out....😂😂😂

Saw a video a while back of two Robin chicks in a nest (fully fledged)- a hawk flew up and, as they started their, "feed me" routine, snatched one of them. The other one looked around, bewildered, then dove out of the nest. What I was seeing was, "natural selection in action": the chick that dove, dove because its GENES told it to (although this was not the result of any conscious thought or plan; genes don't know the hawk is a predator, or how to react to it)- chicks that dive, although they're in jeopardy out of the nest, have a greater chance of living to produce offspring with the same genetic tendency to, "dive" when something out of the ordinary occurs in the nest.
He lives on inside them if you know what I mean.

They swallow fish like half their size. Simultaneously fascinating and disgusting. The babies don't look like the mom. I hope it's not one of those jealous moms that stole the babies from a hospital. =D
