  • Once I'm done with you...
... I hope you choke on the dust that will fill the air
    ...
    ... In the meantime...
    Go to Hell.

... this is how I felt towards this map during the last two days I played it. This map is a real Trial By Fury , and there's no other way of describing it. I have yet to discover a map so frustrating as this one, where even the slightest mistake can result in a massive autoslide that will completely kill you run, or a rammbug that will send your car flying higher than the moon.
At this point I am not even sure anymore how many hours I spent on this map in total, but I did spend about 10 hours over the last two days (it may not seem like a lot, but for an ESWC track where I already previously had the WR, it is too much imho)
About the map: it is a 35-second long 3-lap circuit, with each lap being faster than its predecessor.
The first lap is pretty simple, just drive fullspeed as close to the walls as possible and pray that you won't get a stupid rammbug.
The second lap, however, is a bit more serious. The first 180° right turn can be done fullspeed too, like I did in my run, but that requires near pixel-perfect precision. One wrong move, and you're either gonna hit the wall, trigger an autoslide or trigger a rammbug. The last two turns of the lap should be taken as close to the ramm as possible without triggering the autoslide, while also releasing as needed.
The third lap is by far the hardest, at least for me, because the 180° right turn at the start of the lap cannot be done fullspeed anymore, since you have accumulated too much speed from the second lap. That means that a very precise release paired with a timely right turn is needed in order to pass the turns without triggering any autoslides while also keeping maximum speed. A good third lap will also usually mean a good final time, provided that you survive the last two turns, which ideally should be taken fullspeed if possible (again, like I did in my run).
The run itself is really good, but it still doesn't beat Rollin's 34.98 driven on the TMNF remake version four years ago. My run was actually on pace for a 34.9x, but I took the last turn way too safely and ended up losing .02 - .03 seconds because of that. Even still, a 35.00 run is really good, even is it's only an official TMN ESWC WR, and not the actual fastest time ever driven on the map. I don't think I'll go for a better run, this time is good enough for me.
    Former WRs are:
    - 35.07 by me (+0.07) driven on 2nd April 2022 ( • [FORMER LIVE WR] ESWC ... )
    - 35.09 by Rollin (+0.09) driven on 22nd May 2020 (comparison run)

Song: • Undertale Yellow OST: ...
I guess I should also explain why I decided to use an Undertale Yellow song in the background of this video. Since the start of the year, I began exploring and playing more games than just TM, with most notably one of them being Undertale. Despite the game being almost 9 years old when I started playing it, I was not aware of any major spoilers for the game somehow, and that made the process of discovering its storyline really intriguing. I was hooked on the game, on its simple, yet compelling storyline and its unique soundtrack. However, after a couple of months, the game became stale (UT is a very small game in comparison with many other major games), so I started looking into fan-made UT minigames, to keep my interest in the game alive. That's when I discovered Undertale Yellow, a fan-made prequel of Undertale that was in development for the last 8 years and whose final version had just dropped only a couple of months beforehand. That game was absolutely amazing, even better than the original Undertale I'd argue, giving the game a completely new perspective in terms of gameplay, characters, storyline and soundtrack. And oh boy, how good the soundtrack was! The boss fights were a pleasure to go through, even the hardest ones, because of how bangin' the background songs were.
When I started playing TM again after I finished all major endings in UTY, I started hunting maps while listening to UTY songs in the background, since the songs game me such a good vibe. And this run is no exception, I was actually listening to Trial By Fury when I drove this run, I actually didn't edit the music in for the live recording part of the video, it really was playing in the background as I drove the run! The fact that the beat dropped right as I crossed the finish line was truly the cherry on the cake :D
I think the song also matches the vibe of this map, because fighting for the WR on this map was just as hard as fighting Ceroba in my Genocide playthrough lol, also took me just as long to finish both fights xdd
For the rest of the video, I did indeed add the rest of the song, to match the vibe of the live recording. I hope this can also explain the usage of UTY references inside the video itself :]
    Long descrption, I know...

Tyty, it sure would've been nice if I would've driven a sub 35 time, but a 35.00 is great too, especially taking into account how frustrating this track can be 😵‍💫
