It comes down to irrigation and thermo-electric power generation when talking about surface water availability. Water security comes down to delivery and consumption. 40% of CDMX water is lost in delivery and the other 60% is distributed very unfairly. They try to turn on and off water to parts of the city to conserve and distribute for water security more fairly, but that causes siphon backflows that ruin water quality.

Calm down. Mexican president is in ongoing negotiation talks with the cartels on solving this problem. Not cooperating with US officials is a start they said. Should be resolved soon.

I guess they will have to make a big water filter on the ocean to get rid of the salt to make freshwater or else they’re gonna run out of water

4 decades ago, I started my college studies in building design. Back then, a Mexico City's Cathedral (?) was featured as, "25 steps up" to the doors. It became, slowly, 25 steps down (?). As the aquafer emptied and the ground shrank. 😮

1:58 - That's the point of this story: how much money will be lost in tourism. She doesn't actually care about the Mexican people.

American Corporations have bought up water resources for manufacturing in Mexico. Avocado trees require soo much water and nutrients. But people in the states could care less, they want that avocado toast.

How much water goes into manufacturing a silly car I wonder. It's all a big greedy, selfish clown world and these lifestyles we have normalized are wonderful and great but longer term unsustainable with the current population. The reckoning is inevitable

you will never run out of water if you learn to live without society while it still stands. take some gear, go off grid, see how long you can make it, improve every time. get yourself away from the crutch that is only making us worse over the centuries. get back to learning to be sufficient for yourself, cause they hate that.

I don’t think they realize this drought would be this significant and thought they had a few more years of supply. This is frightening because Mexico City is one of the most populated city in the world / you think they would of made this a top priority
