First of all the tribal population is just 30% of the Garhwal. They are not entirely different from the rest of India. The word Garhwali originated from Garh which means A fort . There were altogether 52 forts . Songs are not tribal rather traditional . We have songs that talk about the problems of environmental degradation. Difficulties that women and people experience. Our songs are about the missing our beloved who are serving in Indian army, Navy, airforce .ITBP, Assam rifles etc. Songs also give voice to agonies and problems of women. Our literature, languages and culture is very rich.
