I’d love to see you find an electric boat motor to power the dock out to drop the fish habitat next spring! Rather than ropes from the shore to pull it around.
I've got a trolling motor for my John boat, but rigging it up and it being able to get that the dock where I want it may be a challenge. A case of beer and my neighbors will position the dock while I drop habitat! Ha
This is next on my to do list. I’ve got to get a dock built. I’ll be referencing your build for sure. Smaller scale though. I love the way yours turned out.
Haven't seen any floating, so that's good ha. My boy and I will certainly be out there fishing this spring and I'll provide an update. Been scheming on how to bring in more water. It's low right now. (Still 17ft deep) May have to drill a well.
thank you - just watched your build video and was wondering who has posted a video like this- how well did it work - thank you thia is great. our stationary dock is aging and needs to be replaced and I’d like to install a floating dock- very nice build- thank you
Thanks Mike! Ours is now over 4 years old and still holding up very well. We use it almost every weekend in the summer. The kids love it. I wouldn't hesitate to build one again if ever needed.
The beach was a great addition for sure. However, diving off the dock looks to be a good time. And, you have the bragging rights that your pond held water on the first dig (LOL). Cheers!
This is Very nice. I was looking for ideas for my own pond. I was wondering, any idea how much weight (number of adults) this would hold? Any balance problems? let's say everybody congagates to one side, would that be a problem?
Thanks! As built, this thing has very little chance of sinking. It has 24 barrels under it which can displace about 11,000lbs of water before being fully submerged. We have had a dozen adults on it with no problem. It will dip a bit if everyone goes to one corner, but there is far too much weight to the whole structure for it to tip.
You need a 3hp outboard engine or an electric motor if no gas on pond to move that thing around. I picked up a used trolling motor at a garage sale for $100 That would move that dock
Hah. Im experiencing that Adam friendship right now. Great info
“Ask not what Hometown Acres can do for you, but what you can do for Hometown Acres” words to live by lol
Haha, re-wiring his whole house?
I'm still keeping a few "Twisted's" cold over here. Does that count for anything?
I would love to see you and Adam from hometown acres build a floating dock!
We are hopefully going to try to visit next summer, so if we do, I'm sure it will happen!

@@IndyFarmLife bet it moves it nicely once it gets moving. Lol
The boat motor or my liquored up friends?!? 🤣
Nice work brother…
Thank you! Cheers!

Thank you! I have been really pleased with how it has held up. When it comes to the railing, check menards. Was much cheaper than Lowes/hd.
How are your fish? Would love to see how big those hybrids are now

Haha hmmmm...who could you be referencing?!? 😎🤔 Hopefully we can get out there next summer and get one built.
Do you think in would hold a small cabin say 10 by 14?

@@IndyFarmLife Thanks, very helpful.
Did you add water to your barrels
No I didn't. Our dock weighs enough that it keeps them decently submerged.

I do have a small trolling motor for my John boat but have never put it on the dock. Maybe I should!
Why don't u just show how 2. Don't need to know all the other
Go back in my page. I made a video about the build several years ago.
