I live in France. The french word “Cisuaex” (pronounced see-zoh) means “scissor.” the word Sissone doesn't actually mean anything, it's the name of the man who invented the step. The step goes like this: you start with two feet on the ground, plie, jump up in the air, and land on one foot.

Men don’t go onto releve’ or eleve’, because they was to build up all the energy by digging into to the floor with their feet, so they use the grip of their toes to generate the desired lift by going down into the floor with their demi plie. Now knowing how this jump finishes is important for the male dancer, because he must already be prepared for his next step. So being on balance when the jump is completed allows him to travel in any direction.

Though it is a relief to hear a non French speaker pronounce everything right.... as a native French speaker who learned most of her ballet terms from non speakers I have heard some extremely weird and confusing pronunciations in my time... the weirdest one is the chainée(lit.chained) which for ages I thought was called a genée(lit. embarrassed) because all my teachers were pronouncing it weird.... imagine my frustration when I saw the proper term written down since the correct term makes MUCH MORE SENSE!
