It’s amazing to think that you can’t see the gold in this mine, it’s actually on a molecular level. It would be lucky if more than a few cubic metres have been extracted from the mine, but it must be considered still worth the effort.🇦🇺

@@reidgck Actually it was a chain of many mine sites (known as the Golden Mile). I worked in one of them in the 1980's. Alan Bond purchased all the mines and consolidated them under one company named Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines (KCGM) for open pit mining.

To dig a hole that deep would take a lot of oil for sure. Probably could have been used better for other purposes more essential. The gold probably ends up in bars stacked in vaults of some foreign countries for prestige and power purposes with its value being manipulated upwards..
