  • Listen to the replay of an informative discussion with Arnold Han, MD PhD, of Columbia University. Dr. Han was awarded the 2022 Beyond Celiac and SSCD Early Career Investigator Grant to investigate the role of CD8 T-cells in celiac disease. Moderated by Director of Scientific Affairs Amy Ratner and Director of Research and Patient Engagement Kate Avery, MPH, Han discusses what he’s discovered so far through this research and where he hopes to go in the future. Dr. Han’s innovative research has found more precise ways that gluten sets off damage to the intestine in those who have celiac disease and could help in the development of innovative approaches to finding a treatment. Very interesting hearing about the latest research on CeD. Dr Han explains a complicated topic with such clarity to lay people. Good channel.

Great to hear about the progress made, and that Celiac is getting attention.

Is there a written summary of what this research is about? As a layperson I found it a bit difficult to follow but would love to read more to try and understand fully. My basic understanding is that gluten is now seen to cause a domino affect that triggers T cell response but I might have totally misunderstood.

Can you also analyze the collaboration between the b lymphocytes (igd/IgM) and the cytokines?
