Hey guys great podcast as always. Imo, i personally am not interested at all with the standard non carbon model 😅. It just seems like a slightly more mellow version of the carbon, the studs are slightly shorter, and the plate is more flexible, which i dont prefer.
Btw I've been wearing the ultra carbon for the last couple of weeks now and id say that its genuinely one of my favorite boots ever. It aint for the faint of heart😅, its super super aggresive and stiff but speedboot lovers will love it, its the most trackspike feeeling football boot of all time. Also the upper is genuinley one of my favorite things about it, it get sooooo soft on foot after having it on for a few minutes. It makes the f50 feel stiff and plasticky in comparison. Sizing is a bit weird, i went true to size and have just a tiny amount of extra length but overall very happy with it. Also as long as your feet can handle a stiff soleplate, the boot is really comfrtable, which shocked me, and i think thats down to how amazingly soft the upper gets.
Funny story, i went to the store with the intention of buying the new f50, but after wearing it i found them to be very claustraphobic in the toe which i dont like, with the pointy toe box as apposed to a more anatomical shape which fits my feet better. Also, what shocked me is how the upper was so stiff and plasticy compared to what some reviewrs have you believe. Also the soleplate was so bland, boring, not aggressive, and flexible, that i just felt so bored with this boot so i didnt buy them. Genuinley, i much much prefer the puma ultra carbon, but also the crazyfast plus, which have a more aggressive soleplate, with decent stiffness, and the upper which is so much thinner, and lighter.
People would say that well you cant compare these f50s to X because older f50s were more generally appealling compared to mercs even in the past interms of having a more basic soleplate. However those boots were by far the lightest on the market, and having simpler design aided in acheiving that weight. These new f50s are just basic and simple in designs compared to more tech forward boots like the ultra carbon, or the new mercs, but no longer are the lightest and in fact are the same weight as other competition. And for me there is no upside if the boot is not weightless.
On a side note, im super excited about the new mercs because they feel like a modern-day version of the superfly 4 with that very sock like soft knit upper, cant wait!

Currently waiting on the mercs to arrive, but im also plannong on ordering another puma ultra carbon but maybe half a size down just to see if its better than going true to size. Will let u know @bootcastpod
Love the pod boys! Colby needs to hit up some SR4U laces for the F50 turfs. What’s your guys favorite turf shoe all time or recently?
Oh man this is a tough one, I had some white/silver total 90 turfs back in the day that would be my all time answer.
Recent Good picks are:
Mizuno Morelia Sala Classic turf (go half size up). Joma Mundial 23 (go half size down). NB Furon (top end in half size up). And of course F50 Messi League model for the hybrid touch (true to size).

FOMO almost got me for the vapor 16s. Probably going to wait for the AG sole plate as long as they fixed their AG sole plate on the vapor. My vapor 15 AGs sole plate cracked. 😖

Problem with the gold on the Pred is that they sat right in the middle of using too much and not enough to accent the boot. Had they used more gold on the tongue or even on the rubber fins to even out the contrast (like the F50 did) it would look a lot better OR use less gold like a gold border around the stripes, or just for the Predator and adidas branding on the tongue and heel.
@@kianbensend Great point, I guess that’s where you can make the “lazy” did they do enough argument. Gold on the rubber fins would’ve been awesome!

I will also add, it doesn’t help that Nikes American Football cleats look more and more like soccer boots. They even use a lot of the same materials

I hear ya, it looks way more orange in hand and pics/video don't seem to capture it accurately. Why can't they just use "predator" red?
I love the Euros, but would say it's been a bit disappointing. Teams like France, England and Portugal haven't delivered offensively the way we expected.
Getting very excited for the new Mercs, agree on Vapor 13 vibes.
I will say they feel very Superfly 4 vibes to me (from pics & videos I have from friends). I think they’ll be cool, but the 17/11 will be the best version of it

i really wanted a pair of MIJ Morelia neo 4 betas in white/red but 350€ ugh.. but then i saw a pair of black/gold for 180€ and just had to pull the trigger even tho the colorway is so boring. best boots i own.
also a question about Joma, i just cant handle the fact that every joma boot has a mesh based heel and my foot slips up a lot in those :( have you had issues with lockdown in jomas?
@flakers1337 With the Jomas, yes, unfortunately the mesh does cause some slipping, might be mitigated with Trusox and a half size down. Super comfortable turf shoes tho. I’ve really enjoyed the new F50 turfs more than the Jomas performance wise. Yeah! It sucks but sometimes you gotta let the colorway you want go to save some money. Thanks for watching!
Capa América is hard to watch, the soccer is so bad. The Euros is probably the hardest tournament to win than even over the World Cup 💯.
@@chrisrico5832 Bahaha. I will say the officiating in the Copa America has been awful and the play breaks down a lot because of that. You’re right, Euros do seem harder to win, any mistake is punished and it seems like goals are harder to come by. Thanks as always for watching Chris!
