Just build Everfrost into Banshees/Zhyonas then more CDR, build Deathcap if you are fed though. You don't really need to perform well either, just do average. Her kit is crazy.

I used to main LB but these days I'm leaning towards retiring her and switching to Ahri. Jojo's stats kinda tell the same story. With LB you have to dominate lane, get solokills and a big early lead, have great KDA and there's still a high chance you'll lose against scaling comps. Ahri is just so much easier, safe lane and blind pick, easy roams and straightforward teamfighting.

All Ahri games I've seen lately made me believe she is utterly useless when it comes to damage. She's not an assassin anymore, just a glorified support with her charm. And it's a trend affecting all control mages, they all get reduced to supports over time
And yet it's the best way to climb. Actually gross how the top ladder mid players are all just Lissandra, Ahri spamming because it's the most impactful.
I feel the same way about Morgana in my games and if there is a Diana I don’t even respect the champion anymore with out a comp supporting it
That's the easiest way to climb. Control mage scalers are strong but it's a lot easier to peel for ADC's who don't have CD's late game because all their damage is auto attacks and kiting whereas mages you wait for CD's even with a lot of AH.
I think that's kinda nice honestly, we already have late game mages like Syndra and Viktor
actually build damage on her and you'll do damage. the supportive build is worse
To stop the "deals no damage" problem, I typically build more damage items instead of pure defense. Aery + Liandry's + Shadowflame has a nice interaction that will proc aery over and over as long as someone is burning, which gives you great consistent damage in team fights. After that 2-core, you can basically get whatever you need, I usually get Void, Deathcap, and a defensive item with the order changing each game

Aery doesn't proc with burn from items...
@@goleon7671 The bonus damage from shadowflame procs on the burn, which procs aery. It's why you need liandrys and shadowflame
Lately I’ve gone liandrys rylais that slow makes it so easy to essentially kite as you burn people to death feels super smooth with an in and out Lillia style vs assassin style
Thank you for the video, Pekin! As a suggestion since you've mentioned you were having trouble with channel growth, you could experiment with stronger identity for your video series in terms of title and thumbail. Would also make your videos more distinguishable from each other (Ex: Off-Meta Climb to Masters; High-Elo Gameplay and so on)

Ahri's damage is fine. First Strike + Everfrost + Horizon Focus lets you assassinate squishies. Liandry's with CDR items gives you sustained DPS against tanks.
Obviously, your core usefulness is in charm and helping control team fights, but she does more damage than people think she does. Not completely a glorified support.

Seeing her in Pro play, I'm dreading the inevitable Ahri nerfs. For itemization I feel like Everfrost into Zhonyas is a pro only build. Chovy is great to watch, Faker is good too but occasionally ints (flash > ult > charm > hourglass > dies > repeat).
From watching Solo Q Ahri one tricks, damage is your best defense. If you still need both it's better to go something like Everfrost > Mejias (or other offensive item) > Hourglass. Seraphs isn't bad either.
The best build is Everfrost into Banshees. That is what most solo players do currently. Because AP Items don't give enough damage to offset the power of just building defensive while being a "Catch/Pick bot". @@PekinWoofThanks for the reply! Yeah I don't think it's specifically wrong. Maybe I should have said pro-oriented. I also noticed it is more common to go banshees or zhonyas in KR. I think it depends on how much you trust your teammates to carry, and when in the game you specifically want to force fights.

hey pekin, how do u feel about first strike ahri into ideal matchups? (for example vs melee or mid range, obv not long range) kinda just use demat to permashove if needed and keep prio while scaling into mid faster. would you consider playing it over electrocute or do you prefer the early dmg

Generally Horizon Focus is the optimal 2nd/3rd item choice when going everfrost. everfrost guarantees the passive proc and ends up doing more damage than other 2nd/3rd item choices

I can't play a game with Ahri without feeding. Her damage is so non existent early on and her mana issues are pretty bad. Its definitely a me issue but I can never pop off with her.
I think what makes her so fun to play her for me is the consistency. Her damage definetely falls off late game and you get more dependent on your teammates while you're looking for either peel or pickups, however one thing clear is that Ahri is a very safe mid option overall - she can go both damage oriented against squishies for the backline or def for more supportive def playstyle, she is hard to gank, can roam much easier than mages and she can play both aggressive and passive in lane as she can play from behind too so even if you can't win lane she is pretty impactful

I wonder if buffing ahri's ap ratios and nerfing her base dmg a bit would put her in a better spot when she's ahead, but not completely break her. If you want to still be a bit of a support-ish character mid, you could still just build everfrost and whatever, but if you're ahead, you could just go luden's and oneshot people and not hard fall off

Ahri does plenty of damage if built appropriately i think. I never have an issue. Liandrys, cosmic, shadowflame is great for example to move quickly around team fights while being able spam spells and do constant burn damage. Legitkorea is who i watch for my ahri learning but i also love watching pekin content as well.

I’m seeing so many “well, just build dmg and you’ll do dmg” comments and that’s NOT the point. Everybody deals damage if you build damage. AP Malphite does damage but does that make it a better build than tank? Rarely. The problem is some champions do damage even if you DON’T build damage, and that’s the issue that Ahri faces: other carries deal more damage than her with the same amount of gold. If you’re gonna do shit damage regardless, then you might as well capitalize on the other aspect of your kit that’s more useful. Ahri’s potential has always been her play making and outplay potential, even when she was still a high damage assassin.

Every video has a diffrent champ that is super op giving free wins and lp. To me that makes it impossible to take anything pekin says too seriously. To watch him play and listen to how he reasons, macro play and all that is good stuff, but he is fishing for views too so you have to sort out the bs
It's mostly the titles. The video content is usually legit. Have to blame the audience for the clickbait titles tbh, because people tend to ignore things with reasonable titles. If he had just named this "Ahri vs Tempest's Yone, full gameplay commentary" he'd get a lot less views.
The real issue is when he makes item builds look better than they are because he played the same shit all day until he got a game where it looked good, but even then he's usually fairly honest about how many games he had to play to get the one that's on YT, and what went wrong in the games that didn't make the cut.
