I just bought an 87 choo choo from Oregon, trying to get it smogged in California. With no shops wanting to work on mine because it has the OBD1 reader. I’d like to thank you for your video. Because not only am I a novice at cars to begin with, I am being shoved face first down this rabbit hole now, perhaps having to fix some things myself. So once again, thank you for showing me my first step.
Just confirming that this is a valid source. This is very helpful he knows what he is talking about. It says it in the book to do this procedure for troubleshooting. The original hand book .thankyou for your time .would you be interested in making more about these range of models?
Show them what happens electrically when the ac relay sticks.:) their is problems having heat and ac on those models. Personally i have had 3 ans still have 2 of them and i think body by fisher sucks, trannys are underrated ,and though the engine and some make make be good for the gemeral concept of the model, it sucka electrically as well coming from and electrical engineer.
Most of these cars from the 80s and some from early to mid 90s with the computer didn't have much common mechanical problems and check engine light coming on as frequent unless you had a serious problem with the engine. Now newer cars the computers built in them were designed to scan the whole car and engine light would come on over one small problem like bad cat. converter although newer cars are more digital and more problematic.
My car is '95 Pontiac Grand Am. I'm like someone trying to find water in a dry, barren desert, in trying to get the codes. Even in an OBD 1 Scan tool I recently ordered, for cars made from '82 to 95, it SPECIFICALLY SAYS IT WILL NOT WORK ON A 1995 PONTIAC GRAND AM. Even a paper clip I tried recently didn't work. NOTHING WORKS.

Yes more of a problem later on ...:)
So if it flashes 3 times back to back its a 3? If so, I got it. 👍👍👍 thanks again
I have aftermarket digital gauges. Do you think this would work with a test light and paper clip ?
The paper clip trick will not work on 94-95 GM vehicles
Thanks for the info!
