I am not claiming ownership over the music or the music video that I am reacting to in this video. I am reacting to the video/music to give criticism and point out different aspects of the original content to create dialogue and intrigue for the TH-cam community. My goal is to spread awareness of the original creator/artist through humor or commentary to promote the original work while adding entertainment to reach more audiences. I believe I have added enough original content to the original video to make it a different video and to not be a substitute for the original piece of work.
I am not trying to rip off the original artist in any way.

FYI, the rapper (Moonbyul aka Moonstar) writes all her own raps with as result that she is the female with the most writing creds of all generations with only a few males having higher creds.
Solar, has performed in a Musical as the lead to much aclaim
Wheein is the backbone of the group because of her vocal ability (even although Solar is bigger on belts)
Hwasa is the youngest and just has smooth sultry jazzy vibe about her.
All 4 can and have rapped and all 4 can sing on a more then acceptable level live on stage and are famous for doing so.
The running gag is that Mamamoo is only bad in 1 thing, namely lip syncing. :)
Each of them have a very successful solo career while also still being successful as a group.
Unlike some groups, they don't stick to a single sound but try all kinds of genres, all kinds of songs. From hearth ache to outright silly, to deep and meaning full to just a freaking bop.
On top of it all, they are women, not girls, and have a really big say in what they do and how they do it which means they don't play up to the camera 24/7.
All of them have a big say in the wardrobe, their MV's, their songs, etc.. There's plenty of songs that they have either helped write lyrics of even the music for.
And unlike most groups, there is not just a bond because they HAVE to work together but they are actually friends and they never forget where they came from.
They are good in the studio, but to really appreciate them you have to see them when they are working a crowd, feeding of the love of the audience and transforming from the barely 5'2" sized nerdy shy crackheads to the commanding stage giants that they are.

What good info. I just watched Part 1 of an introduction to Mamamoo(uploading it now). I learned that fact that MoonStar writes her own lyrics. I'll check out some of your suggestions. Listening to "Woo Hoo" right now. That's a song to send shivers down your spine.
Second hand information, but from what I understand, the show was originally called "Killing Verse" and showcased Korean rappers. Solar called up the show and asked if Mamamoo could go on the show. The station retooled the show for vocals, renamed it "Killing Voice" and Mamamoo was the first group to appear. Now I think dozens of vocal groups and vocalists have been on the show, but I think Mamamoo still holds the record for most views.
Not quite - Jessi was the first under Killing Voice, and Solar tried to go on as a soloist while promoting Spit It Out but Dingo wanted the whole group. Mamamoos performance did undeniably make going on Killing Voice a point of pride for kpop singers though.

@@shortdrink873 I think you mixed up the Killing Voice on Dingo Freestyle and the ones on Dingo Music. The one Jessi did was on "Dingo Freestyle" channel and she is not the first one. If you check the channel, the DF Killing Voice started from 2019. Besides, Solar was promoting Spit it Out in late April/early May 2020 and the time MAMAMOO got invited to "Killing Verse on Now", a show by Naver Now, Dingo Music, and Dingo Freestyle, was already a half year later in November 2020. So there was no Solar tried to go but they wanted the whole group during Spit it Out era. Solar talked about it that she was kindly rejected by the program because she is a vocalist so at the time when she was frustrated and she said she is going to write a lot of raps so that she could get invited but maybe her frustration got heard by tDingo so they invited them, still the first kpop group to be on that program as the music in Dingo Freestyle is more for Hip & Hop, R&B, and Raggae. Anyway, their live performance in the show is the first "Killing Voice on Dingo Music" and that was the start of the nowaday Killing Voice series on Dingo Music, which is mainly for popular K-pop artists! Mamamoo have over 300 songs in their discography. I personally love "Mumumumuch."
This song reminds me Jamoroquai. There is an album of his called Automaton. It has that classic disco bass guitar vibe just like the song Mumumumuch. Great recommendation. I'm listening to it now. Epic, dammit!

Mamamoo are acknowledged as the best female vocal kpop group. The members from left to right are Moonbyul aka Moonstar, Solar, Wheein and Hwasa. They have many odd or wacky songs such as Waggy, Pikachu, 1cm Taller Than You, Sleep In The Car, Pink Panties, Aze Gag.
HWASA!!!! Tha'ts her name. I never knew the other two. I still have alot to learn about KPOP so I didn't knew they were so highly regarded. I'm going to check out those songs that you suggested. I think Pink Panties sounds way too intriguing to pass up. Thank you!!!

Hidden gems? How much time do you have?! There are dozens! Hell, they did a children's song just fooling around and it was ten times better than most groups' title songs.
Waggy; Gloomy Coincidence; Wow; LIEC; Travel; Universe; 4x4ever; Funky Boy; My Hometown; I'm Your Fan; Chuck; No More Drama; Just Believe In Love; Destiny; Girl Crush; ZzZz; Wanna Be Myself; Paint Me (both versions); You're the Best (both versions, but the 2021 blows everything else out of the water). And these are just the foursome songs! They all have more than a dozen solo songs each, plus MoonSun (aka Mamamoo+) are doing songs as a couple now.
*MAMAMOO* has so much music from group, solos and collabs. FYI they are the only kpop group whose members ALL have successful solo careers meaning each have had multiple solo album comebacks. They also have several drama OSTs as a group and solos, but I'm going to suggest 3 of their commercials. Songs from commercials in Korea are full length MVs, many people don't think to check those out.

I was wondering about that because I saw a NewJeans video that came out recently in the last month and it seemed like one long commercial for Coke Zero. I didn't know that it was an actual thing that they regularly did.

hidden gems:
Hard to pick. pretty much anything they do live. They have a few quirky songs. Aze Gag, 1cm, Waggy, LIEC. Their songs they did at immortal songs competition are great, but cannot be reacted to in youtube. HOWEVER, you can react to Immortal songs medley, which is a medley of songs they sung in the competition at their own competition. This isn't really a hidden gem, as this will probably be the most requested item.
Hidden gems to me are their B side songs.... Waggy, 1cm, 4x4ever, chuck.
It is always worth checking out (all) their solo stuff too. The list goes on and on.
Best vocal group in Korea if not the world. Definitely no group in Korea comes close vocally. Ssuggest Destiny,piano man. Plus all 4 are solo artists with Hwasa being the best. Suggest Maria from her.Wheein has numerous solo hits but her rendition of fever is awesome.

What's absolute killer is that they can take another bands song and make it better. They have done a number of classics check out Immortal songs.

When asking for Mamamoo songs rec from moos, one should state a limit to the number of songs 😅 - there's just so many. These ladies have been incredibly productive in the 10 years they've been active - approaching 400 songs when adding both group and solo songs and song featurings.
Weird songs: Sleep in the Car, 1 cm (aka Taller than You), Waggy, Aze Gag, Freakin Shoes.
I also recommend:
a) earlier songs: Piano Man, Ahh Oop, Peppermint Chocolate, My Hometown
b) bright songs: Woo Hoo, Travel, Finally, Cat Fight, Girl Crush, Love Lane, Emotion, Recipe, Yes I Am, Let's Dance.
Finally, for a Cliff notes dive into their discography, I cannot recommend enough their compilation album, I Say Mamamoo: The Best.

Mamamoo songs and vocals, great as they are, are just part reasons why I love the group so much. Another very big reason is how they put so much when performing. If you can spare an hour of your time, I highly recommend checking out this compilation of their Immortal Songs stages. This is a singing competition in SK where each episode celebrates the discography of an artist, and singers and group compete by reinterpreting a song from that artist. Granted, all songs here are covers, but IMO Immortal Songs was instrumental to Mamamoo's rise to fame, and its such a neat way of seeing them progress as performers. I don’t really think he’s kpop but more kr&b, but it’s amazing! His lyrics are beyond meaningful and his hand on video making is yaw dropping. I hope you give him a chance if you haven’t already 💜

If you get a chance, the live version of Miss You from their time competing on Queendom should not be missed, they've also had many appearances on the show "Immortal songs" where groups of all styles compete on arrangements of legendary Korean artists... I think they previously had the record for the Kpop group with the most wins (I believe Ateez has now tied the record but it's been a while) they also did a medley on one of their concerts (Immortal Songs Medley, pdvism mentioned it above) it's 11 minutes of them just owning the stage. Also I have to agree with most of the other comments here on the recommendations and the joy Mamamoo brings. Welcome to your Mamamoo journey
Moon Byul also recently won "Second World" a competition show for kpop rappers competing as vocalists, her cover of Psy's Refuge is amazing, also I personally think that her song Lunatic should've had way more success than it got.

Also they're well known for their Ad-libs at their live shows where they're change up a few lines when they're performing for specific crowds or shows, and there are a few compellations of them.

Every now and then there are kpop groups that are WAY better live vs the studio recording.......if you're gonna deep dive them, start with the live performances. Solar (the second from the left) also has a very popular YT channel (called solarsido) and she always has other great singers from other groups that she collaborates with on her channel.
I just learned that today. I uploaded my reaction to the Introducing Mamamoo video. I lover the idea behind Solarsido!
Shoutout to my first Subscriber The Talking Muffin. I have been offline sick with the Flu after seeing Mamamoo live in Oakland. Mamamoo is tied for my Ult group with Dreamcatcher. These women were amazing live and Solar almost blew out the speakers during Mr. Ambiguous. I could see the mixer stage from where I was sitting and they scrambled to turn down her mic cause they were running her too hot. There are some great comments on here for recommendations but I totally recommend diving into there solo work. Hwasa quickly became my bias and her Album Maria is in my Top 5 albums of all time regardless of genre.

These are girl groups I recommend in no particular order: Dreamcatcher, G-Idle, Rolling Quartz and Big Mama.
Big Mama : the elder Queens of Kpop vocal groups and damn! The vocals on those ladies are phenomenal.
G-Idle: a mix genre group with an exceptional vocal line and of course their charismatic leader Soyeon who writes, produced and raps.
Dreamcatcher: an all girl Kpop group that incorporates rock and metal to their songs. That's right, ROCK and METAL.
Rolling Quartz: an all girl actual Rock Band. I mean they actually play instruments.
I'm definitely into Dreamcatcher. I've reacted to several of their songs. They are on my top 5 KPOP groups.

Basically recommend checking out what other comments have said if I started to mention hidden gems and just gems in general I'd be here all day. Mamamoo have released SO much music over time. But if you'd like to explore their early music that was popular domestically versus internationally i'd begin with Piano Man, You're the Best, Yes I Am title tracks. For odd but cool stuff I'd recommend 1cm Taller Than You, Aze Gag, ZzzZ, Sleep in the Car, Funky Boy/Cat Fight - but most of all I'd recommend checking out their LIVE performances over lyric or audio.
