Shmee, Robert, Mischa, and Engineering Explained didn't actually disprove anything, what they did was corroborate the speed Ollie Webb obtained in the first run. What each of them failed to figure out is that the video was a composite of two runs made that day, the final speed was super imposed on the right, which explains the reason for the blurred speedo, the footage used was from the first run where 287 mph was obtained by Ollie Webb, which explains why each of them reached extremely similar numbers in their final calculations. All they did was stir up shit where none existed, the car may have made another run and reached a speed that is faster than Koenigsegg's number but guess what? No matter what those fools concluded, the car is not a street legal car then and is not now, which means the record is still technically in Koenigsegg's corner. I will defend SSC but they do not have the record, and won't until the car is homologated. By the way, Hennessey's own car isn't homologated either so unless it reaches homologation standards it won't hold the record, no matter how fast the car is. Oh yea, I almost forgot, there is the whole issue of SSC not actually using the video as a legitimate claim, that was Top Gear. I was up the morning it was posted, the video came from Top Gear, not SSC, so spare me the bullshit.

This was great! Very good information and analysis Tim! Initial impression is that the only realistic explanation (if it exists) is the video not matching the actual final run. Maybe they forgot to hit the record button? As for the gearing issue, I wonder (haven't ran the numbers yet) how much the rear tire diameter would have to expand (from g-forces) to match the target top speed. Maybe it's possible (for example with top fuel cars, though a significantly different tire, you can see the diameter of the tire changed dramatically during a run). I'd assume there would be a little expansion, though obviously no where near as much as you'd see in top fuel. Bigger diameter would mean your actual speed would be higher than speedometer reads.
If this wasnt the video of the run, how come they bring the news of the top speed to Oliver Webb in this video? Even tho I want this record to be real, I very much doubt it

Only tesla is allowed to bullshit like that. This called "an excel sheet car". Also the problem is that the boss knows how to use excel, but that is about it. The way it works is engineers present something and should never, ever say "theoretically" because from that on it will be the goal and in the marketing material. Which in this case turned into an actual speed run... which unfortunately does not work like marketing bullshit.

If you want even more suspect evidence that SSC is lying: 1) They blocked @ghostsquadron.koenigsegg on Instagram for originally calling out the 'world record' footage. Kudos to the members of the Koenigsegg Registry for originally doing the math. 2) They've blocked comments on all their IG posts since Shmee150 uploaded this video. 3) The SSC film that they've been talking about still hasn't been released yet by Driven Plus - the company that created the video, and who are heavily promoting their new app on the back of this fake footage. Driven Plus sent the footage to Top Gear first slapping a reminder in the video for everyone to go sign up to the app. This all seems wrong now in hindsight since it's on the back of fake footage.
Top Gear were used by SSC IMO. I think SSC sent it to Top Gear (YouTub'e biggest car channel) and told them they could upload it first and call it an 'exclusive'. The only thing TG didn't do was check the footage properly which every other news outlet has done.

The great thing about Koenigsegg's record, is that they just took an existing customer bought/supplied Agera RS and drove it flat out. Very simple. No skulduggery.
@@faz_s ssc's record has just been verified as valid by Dewetron the company stated that there equipment was used in four of the previous world record holders and confirmed ssc's 316.11mph two way run was legit meaning they done it but Dewetron didn't specify if the record was done in the published video and it could've been the reenactment run for the driven plus movie.
Hmm. Either they faked it or they showed a different run in the background that wasn't the actual record run. But then again, the transmission gear ratios are suspect as you pointed out. Hopefully we get an answer from SSC soon.

I thought that they mixed the video files up, used the slower runs video with the faster runs data but that doesn't add up 100% either.

@@djdavis6837 They did 3 runs, so it's totally reasonable that they used a different run for the footage. Apparently, on the 331mph run, a crosswind blew the car into the next lane and really freaked out the test driver, so maybe they used a less gnarly looking run for the video. There is a documentary coming out so I'm sure they wouldn't want to use footage of a man dancing that close to death in it.

The GPS company Dewetron just released a statement saying "We didn't approve or validate the world record speed run by SSC North America". Take that Tuatara fan boys .
I think the ceo or someone high up said that there was a mixup in the editing of the videos. But yeah there are a lot of things that don’t line up with this.
Actualy the GPS units havn't been returned to Dewetron for verification yet as they can;t be beamed over instantly. They have been boxed up and shipped but not arrived. The videos was confrmed to be stiched together multiple runs for some reason (cock up by the editing company, so any review of it is a waste of time as your not seeing the true run), this has been confirmed. So basicly its a waiting till the telemetry can be reviewed and confirmed.
The CEO of SSC came out with a statement recently saying you were wrong about the gearing, but when you line up the video footage of the Agera run with the Tuatara run the evidence is nonetheless pretty damning against SSC, regardless of their claims and attempts at excuses... now they are saying it's an "error" of multiple different runs/takes being stitched together, lol.
those excuses are interesting. So ssc now says that the gearing used in calculations to prove them wrong are wrong, while those gearing numbers combined with the rpm and the time needed to travel 1.44 miles match pretty perfectly.

As a car guy (or a petrolhead, if you will), I wish every company to break records and push our hobby forward. As an American, I want this Tuatara video to be true and real. BUT, I’m a meteorology student, and I rely of math and hard science to learn how to do my future job. That intuition tells me that this may well not be. Shmee, I hope you’re wrong, but my gut and my heart say you’re onto something. I love records being broke, but I love truth more. The team behind the car seemed far too proud of the idea that the record was now held by an American car. It gave me the vibe that they faked the record so an American company could hold it. I’ll never understand overly patriotic people lol.
The only PR move that they can do right now is re-test the car and prove that they can do the speeds they claim. No way they can get away with that press release that GPS data is accurate.
IF.... if they can reproduce the #'s, the extra publicity drummed up by this is worth MILLIONS!!! IF that is the case, producing a video they knew would get called out and cause a huge stink to then back up is marketing genius!!! I doubt this was an act of genius though.

SSC written statement 2 days ago: All GPS data are validated. It was just an video editing error. We did achieve 331 mph. SSC CEO today: We knew something was very wrong as soon as we saw the video, and noticed the GPS speed wasn't correct immediately. Okay. So SSC knew their own written statement wasn't correct all along. And just trying to lie until they couldn't.
Shmee you gotta get in contact with SSC yourself people are asking them about the legitimacy of this record and they are getting blocked by SSC so if you ask maybe they'll actually answer because of your following and if they block you then that'll send Shockwave through the automotive world simply because you're one of the most honorable people in the car world you have no reason to lie or make this all up so definitely try to reach out to them hopefully we get some answers to this soon

I feel the same way. Because it’s Shmee making the claim, it just makes it so much more credible and believable. He would never do anything to tarnish his own or others’ reputation. He tries to remain positive at all times, and also steady as well. Not the type who goes against the grain so to speak. @@mynameisray thank GOD somebody agrees with me. and he says he got his evidence from sources that VALIDATE that it hit 300+, there WAS a Supervisor from Guinness on site, and it is EASY to do 300 in one mile (the THRUST SSC (yes, the jet car), hit almost 800 in just a little less than a mile, on bicycle tires pretty much (yet on 345s in the rear, with a brand new tire compound not used on any car BUT this one, the tuatara is not able to hit 300? bullcrap.)

@@yahya3683 It seamed that way to me too. its like it was run on a dyno with a green screen to lay in a run on the actual road. The rate at which it was accelerating at 300 mph but then just dead stop at 331 was puzzling..

This was great! Very good information and analysis Tim! Initial impression is that the only realistic explanation (if it exists) is the video not matching the actual final run. Maybe they forgot to hit the record button? As for the gearing issue, I wonder (haven't ran the numbers yet) how much the rear tire diameter would have to expand (from g-forces) to match the target top speed. Maybe it's possible (for example with top fuel cars, though a significantly different tire, you can see the diameter of the tire changed dramatically during a run). I'd assume there would be a little expansion, though obviously no where near as much as you'd see in top fuel. Bigger diameter would mean your actual speed would be higher than speedometer reads.

3) The SSC film that they've been talking about still hasn't been released yet by Driven Plus - the company that created the video, and who are heavily promoting their new app on the back of this fake footage. Driven Plus sent the footage to Top Gear first slapping a reminder in the video for everyone to go sign up to the app. This all seems wrong now in hindsight since it's on the back of fake footage.

Dewetron, the company that makes the GPS speed measuring equipment, was used in four of the previous world record holders runs and has confirmed SSC's 316.11mph two way run was legit.

Apparently, on the 331mph run, a crosswind blew the car into the next lane and really freaked out the test driver, so maybe they used a less gnarly looking run for the video. There is a documentary coming out so I'm sure they wouldn't want to use footage of a man dancing that close to death in it.

Actualy the GPS units havn't been returned to Dewetron for verification yet as they can;t be beamed over instantly. They have been boxed up and shipped but not arrived. The videos was confrmed to be stiched together multiple runs for some reason (cock up by the editing company, so any review of it is a waste of time as your not seeing the true run), this has been confirmed. So basicly its a waiting till the telemetry can be reviewed and confirmed.

The CEO of SSC came out with a statement recently saying you were wrong about the gearing, but when you line up the video footage of the Agera run with the Tuatara run the evidence is nonetheless pretty damning against SSC, regardless of their claims and attempts at excuses... now they are saying it's an "error" of multiple different runs/takes being stitched together, lol.
those excuses are interesting. So ssc now says that the gearing used in calculations to prove them wrong are wrong, while those gearing numbers combined with the rpm and the time needed to travel 1.44 miles match pretty perfectly.
The 20 people who disliked this video probably pre-ordered the Tuatara.

As a car guy (or a petrolhead, if you will), I wish every company to break records and push our hobby forward. As an American, I want this Tuatara video to be true and real. BUT, I’m a meteorology student, and I rely of math and hard science to learn how to do my future job. That intuition tells me that this may well not be.

I feel the same way. Because it’s Shmee making the claim, it just makes it so much more credible and believable. He would never do anything to tarnish his own or others’ reputation. He tries to remain positive at all times, and also steady as well. Not the type who goes against the grain so to speak. So when he speaks, everybody listens (like an old school EF Hutton tv commercial).

@@mynameisray thank GOD somebody agrees with me. and he says he got his evidence from sources that VALIDATE that it hit 300+, there WAS a Supervisor from Guinness on site, and it is EASY to do 300 in one mile (the THRUST SSC (yes, the jet car), hit almost 800 in just a little less than a mile, on bicycle tires pretty much (yet on 345s in the rear, with a brand new tire compound not used on any car BUT this one, the tuatara is not able to hit 300? bullcrap.)

When i saw the Record Run i thought to myself : "Someone is gonna Count the pollars on the sides and Calculate the speed" that looks fishy ... i Expected everyone but Tim
Street lines and the side just didn't go by any faster while the numbers kept climbing...it's very fishy.
Also explains that annoying zooming in and out bullshit, right at "vmax" it's zoomed out to super wide angle so you cant even see the speedo
The numbers were rising stupidly fast and with ease, like the acceleration didn't drop almost at all even when it was beyond 300mph

@@yahya3683 It seamed that way to me too. its like it was run on a dyno with a green screen to lay in a run on the actual road. The rate at which it was accelerating at 300 mph but then just dead stop at 331 was puzzling..
