I saw SLF with 2 mates in Bristol , before they split up , so pretty much at their peak ! We were only about 15years old , and still at school , I don't even think we were allowed to be in the club as it had a bar ! They were brilliant , we danced all gig long , but my best memory of it all , and this is at least 40 years ago now , was that all 3 of us got to meet with them backstage after the gig , and how very nice and genuine they were to us , we were just little kids really but they had so much time for us , as they must've been very tired by then , they truly treated us very special indeed !
one of the two most inspirational bands I've ever seen, along with Minor Threat. Seeing these two bands could change your life, and always for the better

Saw them in Glasgow in like 82, but also grew up in NJ two towns over when the Misfits we're getting started and was neck deep in the NYHC scene and saw a lot of DC Hardcore when they came up to the lower east side. I couldn't have been born at a better time in a better place to see some of the most influential bands!

frankly, i am tired of fans calling bands sell outs for wanting to get paid for their art, does anyone call painters, sculptors, movie directors, etc. sell outs when they get paid? Why fans want musicians to starve to be legit is FOOKED.

I hated that sellout mentality like yes they sold out...sold out Wembley,sold out CBGB's,sold out Strawberry fields. it's like these people want to see 50 year old squatters "yeh mate I spent all my money on cider & feeding my rescue dogs"
Who said SLF sold out? They moved to a "bigger" label because they were selling bigger volumes of records, which needed a bigger infrastructure to service a bigger market, with the possibility of attracting interest in other countries. Maybe Rough Trade did not have that infrastructure in place?
I was a huge fan back then, still like their music, but there's no two ways around it, they were hypocrites. They said they were against the whole Thatcherite capitalism and went with an indie label so as to not be seen as sell outs, but the 1st thing they did when they started to get some shine, was to put their own personal wealth ahead of their previous ideology against capitalism. I''m not saying I blame them for selling out, I do however blame them for pretending they were above it all.

The place was full of people wanting too hear alternative Ulster etc....and the singer pissed n moaned but there would've been no fucker there elsewise....matey boy (singer)came across as an arsehole...bulletproof discography tho......
