When a hydraulic line is cut the engine pump and all of the pumps won't do anything or the ptu and the rushed landing was because they knew a fire would ignite filling the cockpit with toxic smoke that would impair their sight and with no flaps they needed to bleed off speed.
If you look close at the video where the white smoke is, When the plane struck the birds you can see on the left of the white puff a darker plume and hydraulic fluid is dark red or purple, When the plane hit the birds I think they bent or broke a blade causing a piece to fly around inside and cut a hydraulic line and all hydraulic pressure was bled off, That explains the dark plume of liquid. With an open circuit none of the pumps will work or the ptu they just dump fluid on the engine and fuses are closer to the valves and actuators not the pump so no pressure for anything in system b. Also in that video you can see more than 10 white birds on both side of the plane and a witness said they heard 2 or 3 bangs so both engines might have been hit and you can see in approach video the plane approaching while at 100 feet high you can see damage on the right cowling, That is not T/R and they will not deploy over 10 feet high but this is at 100 feet so that is damage and when they are 10 feet from the ground you can see a heat plume from the right engine but not the left. No system b and only electric system a
That is also why no flaps, No air brakes but the 737 can still control rudder, Elevators and ailerons with cables so they were able to land with full control but without system b no flaps and their stall speed would be much higher explaining the high speed landing and it explains why they would choose a belly landing knowing they would stop faster skidding on the fuselage tail and engines rather than not having hydraulic brakes on rolling wheels so they opted not to deploy gear and made a tight 180 turn then rolled slightly left right to bleed off speed and might have even thought that dirt embankment for holding up fiberglass antennas would help safely slow them how would they know it was loaded with 2 foot thick concrete.
I think they are going to find a broken blade and a cut hydraulic line on the left engine All my best to the familes and everyone involved

@@bethwilmot7281I don't know. I've read a couple articles that their nose gear wasn't down. It appeared in the video that their main gear was retracted too. They would have had brakes if the main gear was down and the nose would have been sliding on the runway. This was their 2nd attempt at landing and I assume they were having an emergency or they would have gone around again. I doubt they expected a concrete barrier.

Shouldn't matter what end of the runway he took there should definitely not be some huge reinforced concrete structure at the end of any runway.
You would think there would be a trap like they have for trucks on motorways some gravel trap to catch any plane and help them stop or stop slowly not an abrupt stop at the face of some huge unmovable object!!!

The pilots first mistake was to not land on first approach, plane was already lined up for landing, instead he makes a crazy tear drop turnaround menuver without any hope of landing that plane safely.
A series of poor decision making by the pilot led to this horrific event.

I’ve been thinking about the Jeju Air Flight 2216 tragedy, and the decision to shorten the runway from 9,200 feet to 8,200 feet might have played a role in the outcome. With less runway available, the plane may not have had enough space to slow down properly. Also, the concrete wall at the runway’s end seems to have been reconsidered, as it could have made things worse. It’s heartbreaking that this happened, and my thoughts are with the victims and their families. Hopefully, these kinds of issues can be addressed to prevent something like this from happening again.

This pilots were really the worst any passanger can imagine. Two of them together in one cockpit is a really really unlucky situation. They made just everything wrong. Any student pilot after 5 hours flying might do much much better then them. At the first, if you brain has no capacity give you time for trouble shooting and dont make any decision in panic or rush. The normal procedure would be either land in the normal configuration (finish you approach and stay calm) or go around and enter the holding. You have at least 30 minutes time for troubleshooting. Never use the landing direction with tailwind if you wouldnt know your thrust reverser and breaks are working correctly, calculate your landing distance required. From my experience I exclude a hydraulic failure and even if you would have a failure there are 2 further systems to keep the pressure up. Even if each system fail you still can easily deploy the gear manually without a big effort in the 737 NG. Just this few rules would keep all passangers allive. The other landing direction even doesnt have a wall at the end. Therory of smoke in the cockpit ? I dont think so, because the AC for the cockpit is coming in from the left engine. And even if there would be some smoke, wear your masks and proceed with your job. You still have the AP if you are restricted to look out !!! If an electric power loss event has occured start the APU. However it´s too late. In the unlikely case I am wrong with my judgement I apologize strongly.

No doubt in my mind that only responsible people of this tragedy was the pilot, I was wondering if he was a rookie pilot, but he had vast experience, I guess the authorities must focus their investigations on the pilot, since he did everything wrong…..aborted the first attempt of landing, and went around, I think the bird strike got him into his nerves and decided to rush the landing, choosing to land from the opposite direction, but obviously, he messed up with everything……shot off the wrong engine, didn’t slow down the speed and ended up everything at the barrier…..conclusion: perhaps he was under the influence of….alcohol, drugs or had a family emergency…..my sincere condolences to the families of the 179 dead people who died in this senseless accident.

Looks too much, like the plane has been highjacked, the speed of the plane was too high, which was noticable to the naked eye, and the plane overshot the runway by a "mile", and the way the pilot landed it so smoothly at such high speed, reveales a high level of experience, (not panic).

They could have been approaching too high or too low and did the turnaround as a means to get better approach trajectory, since they had lost all control of instruments. Whatever the reason, they SUCCEEDED in their goal and made a perfect belly landing. It was that berm of earth and concrete where the localisers stood, which stopped the plane and caused it to erupt into a fireball. If they had touched down at the very start of the runway, they could have slided all the way to the end with the friction slowing them down enough to not impact the barrier, or could have turned onto the grass verge to slow them down further. Without instruments, they were flying by the seat of their pants. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for them. They touched down too late and too fast. RIP, 179 souls! Condolences to the bereaved families.
