You and I differ on this one. I actually think that TPL benefited the most from the adaptation, since there were more natural reasons for cutaways to other locations. Watching Ma Rainey walk through a hotel was a lot less organic than showing the white men trying to kill Crawley, which to me was a riveting scene. Both of those were adaptation decisions, which the stage versions would lack.
Sam’s character has a moment in the play that was cut for some reason, or at least shifted to Danielle, and I think that was a mistake because it could have been his Oscar-nod moment. No spoilers, but part of Berniece’s confrontation with Boy Willie really belonged to the Doaker character. If you watch the Hallmark version, which was available on YT last I checked, you’ll see a difference in what happens when Boy Willie and Lymon are trying to take the piano out of the house.

Are they stuck in one place throughout the movie? This is the problem i had with fences. It looked like a stage play

There's a few brief scenes shot in difference places, but yes, majority takes place in the home.

The brutalist is receiving raves, felicity Jones is gonna get swept up with the buzz of the movie and she will likely win best supporting actress.

Deadwyler is owed nothing. The acting was good but not great. Especially when you KNOW these characters in real life.

It's a shame that SLJ has kinda fallen - or teetering - off the Supporting Actor list. I thought this was going to be a surefire, long-overdue 2nd nomination for him, but from what I've read and heard, it seems like his character - which got him a Tony nomination just last year - is more in the background, with little to do.
