Great video it’s a shame about the pleasure beach it used to be great when you could just walk in and in and enjoy the rides at night. With all the rides illuminated it was a great experience.
Morning again, still catching up with your vlogs. Nice at this end starting quiet. Sea looks lovely. Soon be busy again, thanks again Stephen, bye for now 😊x
I didn't know the Pleasure Beach closed early now. I can remember as a kid in the 1960s staying in a guest house around the South area and falling to sleep at night listening to the screams from the Big Dipper. It was all part of the Blackpool experience!
So sorry but she has spoit the pleasure Beach. It's not the same anymore. I will not go in there anymore. I used to love it year's ago we used to have a fantastic time. But has i said she has ruined it for families. But that will not stop me from coming coming to Blackpool coming for two weeks next year see you next year love you Blackpool xxxx xxxxx.
apologies , but not sure, how its being "ruined"? the fact is, blackpool has way less visitors than it did in the days your referring to, and not only that, the visitors who do come, dont stay even for a weekend now, its mostly day trippers. So that means the pleasure beach needs to make up for that in other ways. Also , going to blackpool for 2 weeks with im presuming your family, im assuming your not doing much whilst your there? I mean, 3 of us, 2 adults and kid, i go 2 weekends and 2 day trips every year, my 3 nite weekend trips come in at around £1200-£1400, and your going for 2 weeks? Every business i spoke to this year easter, summer, and the sept bank holiday all said this was the worse season yet. And at basically 1k+ for a weekend is it any wonder? i love the town, support the town, and yes, wish it was like the good old days , pleasure beach more than anything, but times have changed. As has the town itself.
I live in the south east, and I'm sure I speak for many others who also live here. Back in the day, I'd go on holiday for a week in Blackpool. Rather just spending 1 whole day with a wristband in the pleasure beach, it'd be split up over 7 days, with free entry and pay per ride. Now you can't do that, I end up just going for a night or 2 just for a single day in Pleasure beach. Before wristbands I'd be in Blackpool longer, spend more money there, and was much more enjoyable. I'm a big fan of Blackpool, so I still go every year (or twice). But for most people here since going to wristbands, Blackpool is too far away and costly as it requires an overnight stay, it'd be cheaper to go Thorpe Park with the £100 unlimited fast track.
Yes Stephen would love to be in Blackpool 👍 🌊 Thanks for the walk and sea 🌊 views and take care until next time 😁Pauline from Blackpool living in Canada 🍁
Grest Video Stephen, enjoyed the season, Never been down over Christmas and new year but this year coming down Dec 23rd for 2 weeks. Be grear to see Christmas by the sea and expierience Blackpool over the festive period, but I dont care what open and whats not, just the fact of beonv down here will be great.....
Doorman at the Velvet (a few years ago) was really helpful when we were visiting Blackpool, my cousin had a guide dog, he said it was really crowded, and probably not safe for the dog, but he directed us to the other nearby Wetherspoons, calling first to check it would be safer. Spoons get a lot of stick, in the past from me, too, but in Blackpool and Harrogate the staff really went out of their way to help my cousin, finding a safe, comfortable place to sit, and even providing a bowl of water for the dog.
Hello Stephen the summer season passes far too quickly, I can’t think of anything nicer than an early morning stroll along the beach. Really looked calm and peaceful, the yellow tram was a nice surprise. I’m sure Blackpool will be busy tomorrow evening ( Guy Fawkes night), thank you for this enjoyable video……

As a kid pleasure beach was always open late, was free to get in and you had a book of tickets, it needs to be like that again free entry and pay for rides
Another great video Stephen, in particular covering the Pleasure Beach and it not participating with the rest of the prom. Can’t understand Amanda charging £50…puts folk off. Our family would go in even at night to watch the rides, and let us kids on what we wanted, and all have fun til late, now it’s closing around 6pm ( 10 Sat nights ) 😮 No fun or atmosphere, this really upsets me as I’m a huge fan of the PB. Amanda has ruined it. I’m sure they only extended the illuminations since lockdown to boost business and folks morale, maybe I’m wrong. It’s great to hear your carrying on through winter with more footage, what warm news! Our family enjoy every video, and that you cover so much points of interest and have great knowledge! Thanks for making us feel we are there every time. Big fan “PIPES” 🏴
Thanks for another video Stephen, end of season maybe but Christmas by the sea starts soon so Blackpool will be back in full swing soon. Those swinging wind shelters are a good idea, just not on the front at Blackpool would be like some mad Waltzer! Pleasure beach really needs to get with the program 5pm closure during the week and 10pm at the weekend is ridiculous for a beach resort. Would love to be sat there at the seafront so relaxing. 😊😊😊
I last went on Noahs Ark in 2002, when a Canadian friend came over to visit, and wanted to see BPB. I have to admit, I was sad when I heard that Noahs Ark had closed, because.. I loved it. That was also the last time I went to Blackpool, until earlier this year.
We went to Blackpool Tuesday. Quite busy because of the half term holidays. The lights weren’t great this year I will admit. We had a nice walk along the pier. Left about 6pm. We’ve gone as a family every year for 25 years. That was our last year I’m afraid.😢. It’s not great anymore.
4:26 i loved standing there lasrt month for the wild night seas abd the calm mornings plus going in thd PB on the big one icon etc. We stayed at Henson hotel and were listening out for the screams to let us know it was up, running n open. 4:38 YES STEPHEN . Bonfire night in the '90s marked the end of April to November's long season (when it was busy). You no longer have parades of national radio DJs but still you have a-bit-of-a-do. So looking forward to your next nights vid. We're cold in St Ives, Cornwall so will be you, Stevie. Wrap up warm
Very great vlog stephen nice updates £50 non rider pass for the pleasure beach if you want to go without riding and thanks 4 showing top end of blackpool
We went to the pleasure beach last week, used £65 of Tesco vouchers for a family of 4. We had a great time, well worth it even I had to pay in full! Years ago, my uncle was the photographer on the log flume.
I can't help thinking that the Pleasure Beach is missing out on a lot of revenue. I remember when I used to go there when entry was free and open well into the evening. The place was always packed. Even if you didn't go on any of the rides, ( the Wild Mouse was my favorite) you would usually drop a few quid in one of the arcades or side stalls, and also buy a drink or some food. Still, I suppose some bean counter has worked out that by reducing the staff, and shutting early - saving on electricity. the company makes a couple more quid profit per year. Longer term however, they have reduced the pull of the attraction, and eventually the reveue just declines. It is also a shame for the other businesses at the South end of the prom, as reduced footfall to and from the Pleasure Beach, must also be having a negative affect on their viability.
I used to go to the pleasure beach too late at night-we used to go and watch a show around 5-8 such as the Eclipse show then go back on the rides-I used to love riding the Pepsi max (as it was called) at night! Miss those days and the pleasure beach was free to walk around. My parents can’t go in anymore as it’s too expensive and they don’t go on rides!
Evening Stephen, yeah, shot themselves in the foot the pleasure beach, won't ever be packed again till they bring back the none rider day pass then families will return. Believe they're doing a £50 none rider season pass, can't see that being a winner. They are losing a fortune but they don't seem to care, also more people better atmosphere. I actually think the £50 rider pass is pretty good value. Great walk mate, cheers.
Evening Stephen its Monday evening 7:25 pm just watched your video thanks for taking us round blackpool end of the season 😊😅😂 😊from Michelle in Nottingham
Thank you for the interesting video Steve. Entry to the Pleasure Beach should be free. Just buy a wristband for the £50 or whatever to go on all the rides. The book of tickets they had years ago were great. You could go on a couple of rides a day, or just pay to go on one ride, like I did, the first time I came to Blackpool on a day trip from London, when I first went on the Big One. Yes the main season may be over but the winter season is starting up. I am delighted that they are extending the Illuminations until 5 January again next year, because I am one of the few people living in Blackpool that think that the Illuminations are exciting. I am glad that they put Odyssey near Central Pier this year, because I was well dissapointed that they took them down for Christmas by the Sea last year. Christmas by the sea will be nice again this year. And of course the starlings are back giving their wonderful murmurations especially over North Pier. Hopefully we will get a lot of amazing sunsets and mountain views this winter xxx
If you want to go to a place where the season well and truly closes down and nothing is open at all you need to come to where I live ingoldmells near skegness. From next week the village which is manic in the summer with tourist goes into hibernation… nothing opens at all along the sea front only the spar shop with our post office and one or two shops. Non of the arcades open non of the pubs it’s a proper ghost town in the winter… it’s totally deserted. When I first moved to ingoldmells the first winter was really weird…
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpoolyep it’s a strange place in the winter. I moved to ingoldmells from Skeg itself about 5 years ago and I live in the village itself which is just off the coast slightly away from the caravans but still a stones throw away if you know what I mean it’s hard to miss them 😂 but apart from the couple of connivence shops in the village and the spar shop up near the sea front everything is closed and empty. Eerily quiet.
The season gone by so quick this year 😮 Wish pleasure beach opened later more regularly. Nobody knows whats happening with ice blast, whether they getting rid or refurb. The park are selling the flag that was on top though
Evening oh the sea is calm love the sound Crickey poroni is expensive you got dear beer monsters there 😂 it’s sad that the pleasure beach closes so early I wonder if it’s running at a loss closing so early till the next one 😊
The velvet coaster did you hear about the birkenhead seagull that went to play roulette in the casino he was so chuffed when hed won 100 chips but the pleasure land theme park i remember whennall the rides in thev1980s were 50p we went on the log flume the gold mine and we went on the ghost train it is still booming like it was back then i dont think blackpool will ever change it will always stay popular i bet in 100 years time they may of made the fair ground bigger i used to love the rides in blackpool and we would buy fish and chips and candy floss i remember people used to sell suveneres to the coach tours light up toys the lot on the road side i bought a umbrella hat lol i loved that thing till a gust of wind blew it off into the river mersey lol summer of 1989 lol it still looks the same as it was back then but that big 1 looks huge ive not been on it im 2 chicken lol 👍💯❤️
Weren't the illuminations only extended till January since everything reopened after covid? I'm going again the week before Christmas, never been to Blackpool around Christmas so will be interesting to see how many people will be there 😂
A few truth of Blackpool 2024. The pleasure Beach has never been quieter this year. The illuminations are boring. The Tower opening times are really poor especially over the Christmas by the sea period. The resort is dying, and nobody seems to care.
Hi Stephen excellent video people need to stop writing blackpool off it is low season and blackpool is all year round resort where many seaside resort closings for the season but blackpool is open a lot as gone into blackpool and especially the seafront as a lot of work done to it and the pleasure beach back in the day was full and now it is the piers that have more atmosphere than the pleasure beach which is a shame and the costs that pleasure beach charge is ridiculous back in 1997 it was on BBC one it was called pleasure beach still on TH-cam it went down hill when Geoffrey Thompson gave it is daughter Amanda Thompson put the prices up and yeah Stephen it used to be to midnight the piers are cheaper now and better atmosphere now on the piers thanks Stephen excellent video take care pal from Keith 👍👍👍👍
I last went on Noah’s Ark in 2000 when I was there with my GF. I didn’t like the narrow passageways, optical illusion stuff and mirrors which I have a childhood fear of. My GF had to lead me out as I hated it. However came straight out and onto Valhalla which I did love and enjoy. Seems strange now some 24 years later.
love the vids as always and get my blackpool fix :) fully agree on the pleasure beach at night being closed, very sad and used to be amazing. But, sadly, blackpool is kinda rough, like now more than ever. Have a look around after 7pm when all the day trippers have left. So i think there is security implications as well as cost implications. Plus, good luck being in the insanely mobbed pleasure beach at 10pm on a sat night with free entry, do you honestly think that would be safe? easily managed? but yeah, its to our detriment as visitors. We can all agree or disagree, but least its still open and tbh, thats more important to me than its policies. If we all stick to supporting all of the town and its businesses then hopefully improvements will be made by all.
I was thinking about coming to Blackpool for a few days from 26th December..As a treat, checked prices of Boulevard, Big Blue, Holiday Inn and Hilton..I honestly was shocked at prices..Are they so busy at this time of year prices are sky high??...Are some Blackpool accommodation providers pricing themselves out of market ?.Or are these ones just looking for the business customer?
Great video highlighting the Pleasure beach , so sad to see it empty these days . Stephen what do you think of the new Non Rider Pass at £50 which you can only buy until November 5th ? Amanda Thompson should only charge £10 for non rider pass as some people would only visit the park once while on holiday.
Great video as usual, please can you tell me what photography equipment you use. It seems as if the quality of the video's has improved recently and it's very good. Many thanks.
What is going on with the weather.. Everywhere I look it is just a grey dull covering of murky crap. It's almost like the sky is full of powder or something..
You can buy a ticket for April next year for £33 yet a "know all guarantees" it will almost double 😂 to £60 when the minimum wage rises😂 absolute Classic once again Big Man👌👌

I'm going again the week before Christmas, never been to Blackpool around Christmas so will be interesting to see how many people will be there 😂
They started expending the illuminations about a decade ago, but it wasn’t initially right through to new year.
A few truth of Blackpool 2024. The pleasure Beach has never been quieter this year. The illuminations are boring. The Tower opening times are really poor especially over the Christmas by the sea period. The resort is dying, and nobody seems to care.
The pleasure beach thinks greedy approach.result= empty theme park. Waiting patiently, until the penny drops.
We just came back after 3 days and had a fantastic time walking the lights. We thought it was great, especially the new ones that have been added
The lights outside the tower are appaling. LED and boring. Could ay least put the clown / circus ones outside the tower.
I'm in Blackpool on the 15th November for the weekend. Hopefully I'll bump into you
I'll be there 2 weeks on Friday 👌👌🙌🙌🎅🎄
Have a Bass
I think if you have to pay £5.00 to go in the pleasure beach to look round it should be open 24/7
Hi Stephen I believe that the pleasure beach have just announced a non rider season pass for 2025 priced at 50 for the year
I used to love lucky star
Me too.
Oh pb nov 30th ? Glad watched this great video to
I reckon Mandy has gotten greedy and forgot how to care. Karma will sort that.
Another great vlog. Shame you can't film on the piers as a pier review would be great Stephen.
I’ll see if I can do some sneaky videos on the piers Mike.
Tower ballroom northern soul this weekend.
love the vids as always and get my blackpool fix :) fully agree on the pleasure beach at night being closed, very sad and used to be amazing.
Maybe more accessible in centre, and also staffing issues, and general footfall is again down in south lakes
I don’t think many will take advantage of that pass.
@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool I agree
Great video as usual, please can you tell me what photography equipment you use. It seems as if the quality of the video's has improved recently and it's very good. Many thanks.
Illuminations got extended post covid.
I want there today and it was very pretty much of a ghost town nearly lol and I been here since 28th October till 6th so last day tomorrow 👻
Blackpool pleasure beach is not the same anymore since they changed how you enter
What is going on with the weather.. Everywhere I look it is just a grey dull covering of murky crap.
It's almost like the sky is full of powder or something..
@@woodman2269 I know, we haven’t seen the sun for ages.
U know you will be going on the starflyer it's coming
Some weekend festivals panto circus on
Great vid
You can buy a ticket for April next year for £33 yet a "know all guarantees" it will almost double 😂 to £60 when the minimum wage rises😂 absolute Classic once again Big Man👌👌
