Nice to see a real perspective of your ride. There's too many hero's that want say how good they are. Nice to see it real. Stay upright and enjoy your trip. I've got a dr650👍👍👍
Sound like you get down pretty easy. Cant be a perfectionist and an adventure rider 😉. Just roll with the punches and enjoy what youre doing. Great riding in this one, not wet but no dust = perfect riding conditions
I once had to ride back home from Melbourne around 3000kms on a bike firing intermittenly on 3 cylinders. Took everyones advice and mechanics and finally bit the bullet being exhausted in Brisbane and booked it into a mechanic. They said the alternator was stuffed at it'd be $1500 to fix, which was more than the bike was worth. Said no thanks, perservered with my 3 cylinders and woeful fuel consumption and got back to Townsville, QLD. Went to an old wizard mate of mine who diagnosed the intermittent fault was from a broken spark plug lead. $20. Fixed. The bike was a 2000 ST1100 Honda, otherwise a fantasic bike and it took me around Australia without difficulty in 2013. Riding alone offers a lot of mental challenges but when you look back as an older man you'll appreciate you did it and have a wry smile when you think about bloody tire tubes - guaranteed.
Hey mate atleast one day you will look back at this and have a laugh, it's all about the experience and good on ya for having a crack. Keep up the good work mate, love ya vids 🤙🤙
Mt Dare... a place of Sublime Happiness, or Total Despair. I've had both 😂. Great video Josh, lots of small stuff but you are freaking-well-actually OUT THERE so WELL DONE. You will solve all the issues as you go!! Love it 😍 PS. love that blue plastic pad thing you just whip out for the side stand.
always a good idea to check the tyre itself for objects, they can have something stuck in them waiting to poke a hole in every tube you put in there. if you don't find anything but are still getting punctures you can sleeve the new tube with an old tube as an extra barrier.
Thanks mate I ended up taking the tyre completely off at mt dare and checked it and the rim over. Tyre seemed all good and I put more tape underneath the rim tape and i didn’t have anymore issues after that point.
Great vid mate. Truly an adventure and challenge on a bike. Just wondering whether you used a UHF through the desert for comms? Great channel. Subbed 👍
You havent lived until you have to change a 150kg super single truck tyre, that is flat on the rim. On a loaded semi triaxle each wheel carries 3,500kg and having to jack it all the way back up level to put on the spare, means lifting it up about 2 feet. Since a squat jack doesnt lift up that far, you have to chain the axle to the trailer frame and repeat the process 6 times.
Well, it's not a Honda, there's your problem mate😜 J.k., you Aussie guys seem to get a lot of flats. I once saw a tutorial by 'the old man'who claimed that he had 13 in one trip, impressive. Never had 1, knock on wood. We're spoiled in Western Europe, i love the Eifel(West Germany), the Ardennes, of the Benelux, with light offroading, but that's nothing like that! Hope you make it, 🇳🇱 NL, Transalp with many mods. Hopefully i get a change to tour the outback in the future.
When did Honda last win something in the reliability stakes? Only 2 manufacturers have been consistent in the WEC,Suzuki and Kawasaki ,why Suzuki quitting was such a big story!
How did the desert fox bladders hold up? Looking at getting one and it’s between this and the adv blades. Although these are $20 cheaper and hold a extra litre
No issues for me mate. People complain about the fillers not fitting up. They do get misshaped and can be a pain to fit up but it’s not like they are used every day so a minute or so if fiddling around and they are good to go. Didn’t have any leaks with mine.
Loving the vids Josh. I’ve been planning to do the same trip, leaving from the Gold Coast also. Would you suggest a different route to what you ended up doing?
I think I only used 28-29 litres which was surprising but it had rained a bit a few days prior to me crossing so the sand wasn’t super soft. I carried 37 litres 👍🏼
Thanks mate, been looking at a street bike for commuting to and from work. Don’t want to sell the DRZ but can’t afford 3 bikes sadly. T7 will be the adventure mount 👍🏼
@@_JoshJB_ Before selling it, perhaps try some SM wheels on it? I had some for mine and regret selling them. Once you have tried a super motard, you wont go back. Just make sure it is secure at work!
@@Tr3ggs yea I have thought of this idea. Would have to change brakes as well I’m assuming? Was just thinking a street bike would be much smoother than the DRZ

14.43 LoL at the 40km/hr sign........I can really see the "flash for cash" speed trap setting up there ))

Great video!
Amazing views. Love the DRZ
Looks like ideal conditions for the crossing. 👍🏻
Well done, thanks for sharing.
Nice one Josh, enjoying all the updates on this trip.
Beside the road, out back of beyond is a crap place to learn how to change a tyre ;-) Great adventure, hope things go well for the rest of your trip
You got it easy today lucky you good one
Great video...a bit of bad luck at the beginning but worked out well.
Well done👍
Perfect 👌👌
Oh man, you must have felt like you were cursed! Wonder if it was something stuck in the tyre itself. Glad you kept going!
It sure did. I am glad I kept going too 👍🏼
Nothing worse than constantly getting knocked back with issues. Good effort pushing on. Looks like it paid off!
Way to hang in there! That many flat tires would discourage anyone.
Great vid mate. Truly an adventure and challenge on a bike. Just wondering whether you used a UHF through the desert for comms?

Thanks mate
Nah no UHF for me. I had a Garmin in reach mini if things got bad but I didn’t see any value in having a UHF.

Awesome videos so far bro! Glad I didn’t come.. Wouldn’t have wanted to show you how easy it would have been on a Yamaha. 😉
😂 my Yamaha had a rest instead
Thanks mate 🤙🏼
Going well now 👍
Tagging on with the others also gives a reality check to those multiplying stresses
