Im thinking it would be great if we could list the games that do and don't work. For example, for me GTA 5 did work but then menu access was limited and my old ps3 controller was needed at times to access it. So i would list the game in the comments like so... I got real excited finding out you can use DualShock 4 with your ps3 but then got sad when I found out that it doesn't work for some games & you gotta look on some list to see which games are compatible. Please, make sure you do have a aftermarket ps3 controller handy as some games will require you to use some functions that the ps4 controller cant do. Other than that I'm glad that helped dude ✌ thanks for the comment I appreciate it
I hope if Ps5 has full backwards compatibility, we won't have to go through this with the home button not working or some games not working. Kind of a shame the home button doesn't work & not every game works but it's still awesome to use with the games that work with no problems. Thanks once again!

The original controllers for it are busted and I’ve been stuck using some aftermarket 360 controllers I use on my PC, and for FPS games it feels really weird cause the analog doesn’t feel like a real analog stick. It feels like it’s a analog stick on top of a D-pad. Hopefully this’ll make it feel a bit better or at least give me full analog control
I use an unofficial ps4 controller it was like 35 bucks and when you connect to android device you dont get the lag that you do with the official, and it worked on pc without ds4 tool...pretty amazin controller

You can do it with jus true PS4 controller too, just gotta use a usb cable and the PS4 controller and RIGHT after you press start scanning, take out the usb or charger from the controller and hold share and ps button, then when it shows up on the tv, connect it with usb again and select it. Then take out the usb once it says it’s connected and press ps button. It worked for me :)
For those who want a way to still have a PS button to press without using another controller, the only thing I can think of is to get one of the PS3 blu-ray remotes and use the PS button on there..

Was playing Oblivion and R&C Tools of Destruction when I saw that diagonal movement on the left stick is really slow, even when held all the way down, and the PS button doesn't work.
1.Any idea how to play on PS1/PS2 games emulated on liberal PS3 using DualShock 4 in wireless mode? Only wired connection works. 2. It seems that PS button doesn't work when using DualShock 4 on PS3. Or I totally forgot how to close app on PS3. You press PS button when in game to close it and get back to you consol3 main menu right?
There is no way to fix it, the ps button doesn't respond when the ps4 controller is connected to a ps3, you do need the ps3 or an aftermarket ps3 controller at times for some certain options.
Works on the PS3 main menu but not in game. Odd since a few years ago I tried using a PS4 controller on the same game (Need For Speed: The Run) and it worked fine.

@@electabuzzboss No prob m8 1- If you mean with the PS4 controller, no 2- It isn't necesary 3- I tried with almost all my library and had no problem with any game, months ago you couldn't use it with games from Rockstar but I tried with Midnight Club Los Angeles, GTA V and Red Dead Redemtion and it worked with the three game, there's a list arround internet with the compatible games if you are interested

👍BadVibés some controls don't work with some games as stated within the video. You do still need a compatible ps3 controller to access some features. The ps4 controller used on ps4 it simply a convenient way to use a better controller on a old ps system if the old ps3 controllers are part damaged or faulty for example. For instance some car racing games do work but then to access a certain menu,you then need the old ps3 controller to access it as some buttons on ps4 controller will not work with that game..like GTA. upto now there's no way around it and no fixes I'm afraid. What game are you playing? and does it work fine with other games? I have cobra qsp100 controller for ps4 and ps3 and ps3 is finding that controller but it freezes and stuck at ,,waiting’’ on a screen. When i press circle to cancel it stuck even more and i cant do anything it shows so for eternity, causing total crash and i have to turn my ps3 off manually :(.
The only thing that I don't like about the ps4 system is that it's not backwards compatible. Can't play ps3, ps2 or ps1 games on it. You gotta buy a fucking subscription in order to play your old playstation games ! I've heard that the new PS5 will be backwards compatible with the PS4 but not with all games.
It sucks that the PS4 controller is not fully compatible with the PS3 and that you can't use the PS button to exit out of Apps and turn on the PS3 or bring up the shutdown screen. It's a more comfortable controller than the Duel Shock because the area where you hold it is longer and more comfortable and feels more secure in your hands.
I lost my ps3 controller. Bought a ps4 because I was under the impression I could connect it anyways. Every video I watch it works, however, the user is already signed into their account. I’m starting off logged off on main screen. Is this possible. Can’t find a video / help for this. The controller blinks yellow above connected and blue if I press the middle p, but still doesn’t recognize. I reset the ps3 and the controller (little button on back) with no luck. Any other suggestions?

I got my PS4 controller connected fine but how can you make the PS4 controller player 1? Can’t start any games as it says it’s a guest
Some features require a ps3 controller for selections. I used an aftermarket one as my ps3 controller was damaged.

N apparently your using the wrong type of charger some chargers don’t transfer the data correctly try just buy a ps3 controller it’s on around $10-15
