  • Aside from a hugely successful solo career in his native Canada, where he has had 12 Juno Award nominations with two wins and has a star on the Scarborough Walk Of Fame, Lawrence is celebrating 25 years as a singer and keyboardist for Styx. Lawrence and Styx are currently on tour with Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame nominees Foreigner, as well as the great John Waite, on the Renegades & Juke Box Heroes Tour. On June 11th, Styx and Foreigner released a live Renegades & Juke Box Heroes CD to promote the tour, and in its first week it landed on the charts based on venue sales alone!!
In this interview, Lawrence talks about the new Renegades and Juke Box Heroes Tour with Foreigner and John Waite. He talks about working with former Yes vocalist Jon Anderson in the late 80's, and how filming a video on top of a Mayan pyramid impacted their lives. Lawrence also tells us about the setlist, his brother Terry being the new bass player, writing for the next Styx studio record, and the session work he does for various artists and films.

Great Interview!! I must add, that Hold Back The Darkness may be one of Styx's best EVER songs. That song has got a vibe. It's tremendous and deserves to be played nightly. Thanks again Lawrence. I'm a big DDY guy, still I've seen Styx 11 times now since You joined the band. The first time was in 99 at the Far West Rodeo in San Antonio. You were on The Brave New World Tour. My wife was 8+ months pregnant with our first child at the time. This past June I saw you in Houston on your current tour with Foreigner & John Wait. I've gotta say without fail every single show of the 11 I've seen I've come away thinking that You are by far the GREATEST live showman that's out there. You steal every show. This is coming from a now 60 year old that's still hoping to be Tommy Shaw when he grows up. Add Hold Back The Darkness. It's REALLY REALLY good! Can't wait to hear the next album. The Mission & Crash Of The Crown were TREMENDOUS as was this interview!!

Such kind words that are so much appreciated. Thank you for watching! I'm so happy to know that you enjoyed the conversation! Totally agree about "Hold Back The Darkness" and the last two records. Amazing stuff!
("Hold Back The Darkness" sounds like Styx doing something from Pink Floyd's The Wall, which I find interesting and wonderful!)
