Thank you for this video. I dont really know a lot about working on vehicles, working on houses is my trade. Any how cause of your video you saved me over $100 paying someone else to do this and I was able to fix it myself. Now my van isn't over heating and I got it fixed for less then $20!
I think mine has a bad one I stopped at a light and it got pretty hot then I turned the heater on and it cooled down pretty quick but my heater wasn’t blowing hot air then it got warm again after a second idk
Mine keeps getting hot, like into the red hot. Then I stop and turn it off and it'll stay in the middle usually. Just got a new thermostat to put into it so I'm hoping this is the problem. I'll let ya know the results lol
Is it okay if the thermostat is no secure completely by the pincers? Anyone....I have a 2006 3.3 T&C, and can't manage it to sit flat all the way. I got one side, the other is a little off, not completely flush. I guess the gasket, and bolts will hold it together? It seems to be doing fine. I just fear with time, it might mess up or something. Thanks for the video though. Helped me install it! 😃👍
Probably not much choice here....now I'm wondering why I speed up the video when I was placing the thermostat....but my guess is as good as yours. I would probably leave it like that too....!
Yes it is. Did I mention that I'm not a professional mechanic? I didn't measure the torque. I honestly don't even recall if there was anything about it in the packaging, but my believe, it should be about 10 lbs., but don't quote me on that.
It should be right behind the thermostat housing.... like on the other side of the thermostat housing...under the coil pack... hope this helps! Thank you.
@@SALGUCO 100% possible, don’t care what anybody says , I have a 2002 town and country, I drove around for 2 days after putting it in and coolant just kept coming out of different places because of the pressure build up and then I decided to look up exactly which way it goes in and here we are, haha and now I stripped the threads so I can’t put it back in.
devilemre, I got mine from Advance Auto Parts, one of the Illinois USA locations. Since your engine seems to be a bit smaller the thermostat might be different, and if you are located in Europe you might have a diesel engine. ..then it will be different, based on the online images when searching for info on your vehicle. Sorry I can't help you better. Best of luck!
It looks like is a bit different, where there is an o-ring around the thermostat to be held in place when insert it into the housing. Check this video..... th-cam.com/video/EZ4luHCzBeo/w-d-xo.html
The heater wouldn't throw hot enough air after the car was running for a good period of time. Also, the temperature gage wouldn't go pass one quarter when it should be at about half way, almost in or around the middle, depending on your coolant mixture.
abdulsamad memon , might be the transmission about to give up....I'm not saying that it is but it might. Hope someone else has better info about your issue.
This is what happens when you use cheap parts or neglect your vehicle. This is such an easy job that I replace it every 50k miles, some replace it earlier, some later but use QUALITY parts, not unbranded eBay junk.
As far as I know, that was the original one. I hadn't replaced it before. You are doing preventive maintenance because, I assume, you know better than most of us. And yes, doing it your way would have prevented the issue. Something to consider here. Thank you!
@@SALGUCO Oh I wasn't trying to sound smart or anything. I am a newbie when it comes to working on cars, hence why I came across this video. Either way, if my thermostat broke like that I would have been scared of the damage haha
@@TaijiArbanI apologize. I didn't mean to seem rude or anything like that. To be honest, I assumed you were a mechanic. Still, you have made a good point. 👍
@@SALGUCO Oh and I could tell you were using quality part from the gasket which I assume is Fel-pro, as 90% of the gaskets they make is blue. I am getting the same gasket as well, have used Fel-pro gaskets on my other cars from oil pan, valve cover, transmission pan. Never leaked.
Good job! I am glad that you are training your child the skills as well. I hope mine goes as smoothly as this. 😊

Great video, I was totally prepared thanks to you, I grabbed a 10mm wrench and you were spot on
Excellent video perfectly explained thank you brother
Thank you for the vid!
Your kid in the background was cute with the “don’t cut yourself” lol
There is always the danger! Thank you!
I love the voice of a kind young lad.... don’t cut yourself... or was that the voice of your guardian Angel.
SERIOUSLY!!!! That freaked me out big time 😂
Thank you brother. 🙏
Thank you!!! So helpful
Gracias por este video, tengo que ir este tambien.

It could have gotten stuck... coolant won't circulate properly.
@@SALGUCO yep it was stuck I changed it and it works great thanks for the help!!!

Did it work?
@@arthur.monticelli Yup, took me about 10 mins to fix and only costed around 20 bucks for the thermostat and a nice gasket

What was the torque value for the housing bolts? That’s very important information you left out
Yes it is. Did I mention that I'm not a professional mechanic? I didn't measure the torque. I honestly don't even recall if there was anything about it in the packaging, but my believe, it should be about 10 lbs., but don't quote me on that.
250 INCH pounds (~20 ftlb)
Very well done
Thank you!
Can you tell what's the problem in my car dodge grand carvan 2005 it is shoking when I gave the gear to drive
It's a missed fire. Could just be a spark plugs , or can be a bad coil. Coil is cheap on eBay... Have it scanned at a auto parts place for free.
Gracias 🙏🏽
Nada que agradecer!!!
Would that be why my heat goes in and out and my van trying to over heat
The engine trying to overheat? If the thermostat gets stuck closed and the coolant doesn't circulate, the engine might overheat.
hello, do you know where the Town country 3.3 v6 year 2003/2004 temperature sensor is located?
It should be right behind the thermostat housing.... like on the other side of the thermostat housing...under the coil pack... hope this helps! Thank you.
Was the van that running rlly cold before you did this?
It was. And it was November, already cold up north at the time of this issue.
@@SALGUCO thank you

Hi good day! How did you know that you need to replace your thermostat? Thanks!

My van just overheats. I replaced the radiator, fans, Fan Relays, so far I think this is the last thing to replace with it?
@@TheReverseVader Start with the thermostat, possibly a new radiator cap, probably the last thing would be the water pump.
So I just did this got it all back together I think I put in the thermostat backwards 😂
