Thanks so much for making me laugh so hard! The worst part is though, watching this at work where no one else understands why you're laughing at someone who's screeching like a little old lady!!!
So, so true I can relate to Mike's details of his parents and of me growing up in a Portuguese home back in the 70s in Ludlow, Massachusetts (USA) ... instead of a vassoura, colher de pau ou chinelo, my dad hit me with the long iron tube of a vacuum cleaner (I had managed to outrun him for a while until he discovered me hiding somewhere dark in the basement - a scary episode I will never forget, I shit you not). Truly, I feel blessed to have grown up in a tight Portuguese community "where everybody knew your name" ... thanks Mike Rita for making me laugh at myself in the good sense!🇵🇹😊🇺🇸
Viva o sotaque de S. Miguel... :D para nós, os continentais, na maior parte do tempo são necessárias legendas, mas é um sotaque fabuloso. Um abraço do Porto
Omg this was SO funny. I'm watching this on Natal with my Tia and primos and what a laugh we had. It's unfortunate the rude man in the audience didn't know how to take a joke nor did any research of who he was going to see. My family and I would kill and spend big bucks to be able to see you. We've been trying to get tickets for various PT comedians when they come around but they ALL sell out so fast. I hope you come to southern CT one day, I know for a fact you'd sell out and everyone would appreciate your visit SO much. In my experience, having the SAME upbringing like yours and im sure like a lot of the ppl who go to your shows, as ridic and different PT parents and ppl can be, one thing they DO like to do generally is laugh and ARE super willing to make fun of themselves. An example is what I call the "hurt syndrome". In my family, if u get hurt, they'll def all flock to help. But not BEFORE calling u stupid, saying u deserved it and obv had what's coming LOL. While growing up Portuguese in the US and Canada can be tough, I'm def proud to have such a rich culture and close family and the experiences I do. I appreciate it much more now now being in my mid 20s tho. Good luck to you!
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does someone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb forgot the password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Emory Tony Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
lmao so true! Especially the sleep over part hahaha Me: Mom can I sleep over at ____ house? Mom: Why you want to go over there for? You have a nice bed upstairs, your brother is here, dinner will be done soon, I made soupas. lmao
This guy is gem!! So good. I am Pakistani married to Portuguese from toronto. And my wifes grandmaa is same as he is talking about... My wife had to translate portuguese dialogues can you please add subtitles.
I agree to the subtitles. I am part Portuguese but I am 4th generation. My parents dont speak the language but my grandmothers generation did sometimes but only when they were talking about something they did not want us to hear. They spoke English as their first language and did not even have an accent.
Lol sooo true about Portuguese mothers waiting for you at the door to come home my mother did it to me until I got Literally engaged then she was sleeping good at night lol
I don't know about Toronto, but I do know about California. My Catholic school had all sorts of people: Irish, Italian, and Portuguese. So, we all got along. We had to wear uniforms and walk home past the public school nearby, so it was all for one and one for all when they made fun of us for wearing uniforms.

I live close by Toronto in the Mississauga region and there's a huge Portuguese population where I live and I could say there's about 11 Portuguese people in my that would be in my class we could always make fun of the people that weren't Portuguese but then the Portuguese people would turn on each other and make fun of each other if you weren't from the mainland but then obviously me my family being from the Azores to be like at least we have more culture than you it was funny and every non Portuguese person would never get the joke
Exactly how most of us grew up. Especially when Portuguese think they are so religious by going to Church and religious pictures, rosaries an religious figurines all over the house and always "back stabbing " everyone. Never satisfied. How true
So did I and I grown up in Portuguese I'm 30 but now I live in England. We had heroine addicts in the streets parking cars I mean giving directions to car drivers to free parking places. The first drug I learn about was heroine my uncle used to use it loads of families in Portugal were affected by this problem.

You are very funny but you have nothing of Portuguese, you are totally Canadian, the way you dress, walk, talk, all in you is from another culture with no offense. But you are absolutely right about our way of being. Continue the good work!
So true. Especially when it comes to the coming home late part, then comes the nonstop yelling. Quite common in most Portuguese houses.
So true
