E vapour 8 is one of my favourite tunes by Altern 8 and it came out in the year I was born, I wasn't born early enough to rave but I was around long enough to know what good music was, big up rave generation 👍👍👍
I was 13 and was too young to travel across the country to go raves. My big brother went to dozens of raves from 91-94. The best times. I had so many mix tapes from my uncle who would get tapes from raves. He filmed about 4 raves back then. A video with my brother and his mates is about somewhere of them dancing away. Never will there be anything like this movement again Like the punk movement in 1976-79 we had raves hard core you know the score. Oi oi old skool don't stop
I accept that they mimed all their PAs but couldn’t they have made a different mix than the album version to give the crowd the illusion of a live mix? Other than the live vocals, they literally just popped in a CD or DAT and hit play! I like Altern 8’s music better than the Prodigy but at least Liam triggered samples live and changed up the mix from show to show.
As Nexus 21 they did one better by playing live. They then found this too much hard work so did played DAT while triggering samples like Liam would of. When it came to Altern8 it was pure pre recordings but sure the whole act was just fun.. Look at the way they are karate chopping the keyboards fs 😅
Sick. My old man did , he alleges, the first warehouse / acid party in cov. At edgewick park industrial estate... bottom left, was OK Motor Auctions place of business also. . They once had, allegedly , the laser system which had been nicked from Alton towers.. They did in fact have a laser system stolen, which lead to there annual Halloween party that year being cancelled..
It is also interesting that in this footage you can actually spot some of the instruments they used back in the day. For instance, at 9:00 here you can see an analog synthesizer, the Jen SX1000, which I think they mostly used as a midi keyboard to trigger loops and samples, rather than the synthesizer part of it.
It's funny Mark Archer talk about this keyboard in his interview with "ROAR the rave channel". He also said that Altern8 PA were them doing karate chops on keyboards on prerecorded stuff.
To have filmed that on that many broadcast cameras back in 1992 would have cost serious money.... serious money. How she hits "evaporaaaate" in a live environment is truly incredible too. Love it. Edit...it's from ITV's Hitman & Her. I was wondering how on earth did they manage to fund that. Now I know!

Listen to the Prodigy's Club Kinetic PA. It's incredible and in places massively different to either the single or album versions.
