@@limonlx7182 I am pretty sure the protagonists in undertale/deltarune are gender neutral and its up to the players interpretation, that's how it was with undertale and they was just used to enforce that their genders are your choice.

That makes no sense, if the player was supposed to be a separate entity, than the SOUL would belong to Kris, removing it would remove Kris's control

The is voice clearly telling the player that they're Kris, it's Kris who wanted another vessel, to be someone else
If you name the "vessel" and the "creator" the same name, the voice will say
"OF COURSE OF COURSE. OF COURSE THEY ARE THE SAME."

I think he has a point though. Whenever Kris takes the soul out it looks like they are just staring down and moving strangely as if they were sleepwalking or being possessed somehow. I know it makes more sure to think that the player is controlling Kris through the soul, but it's just a strange detail for Toby to add. (or maybe Kris just normally walks around everywhere looking like they're possessed by a demon whenever the player isn't controlling them lol)
Is there actually proof for this? I feel like the theory that we're fighting against out protagonist the whole game is very unsatisfying.
@@theroboman727 no such thing as proof with these games, but the evidence really adds up. I agree it's kind of unsatisfying but maybe that's what the other 5 chapters are for

also i heard someone point out the phone hands on the battle against spamton neo, with the dialogue that says "beware of the man who speaks in hands". it might be a stretch, but i think too that the dialogue might be referring to the person whos calling on the other end

A little bit about Susie's dialogue options while on the couch: when she questions you on who to take, it's implied that Susie would be the right answer. When selecting either Noelle or Ralsei, Kris says it in a confused way, as though Susie was making it out to be something more than friends chillin' together. However, Susie becomes flustered when Kris mentions bringing _her,_ accusing Kris of dodging the question before saying she would've went with Kris by default; almost as if she's not used to that sort of response yet.
... But, with how much she's developed as a character and how caring she's grown towards Kris, I'd wager she'd be more comfortable responding to that sort of answer in the future.

38:26 It's not Susie that Kris is angry at but at you, the player that's controlling them. Kris canonically knows how to play the piano and quite well, I might add. The skills and knowledge that they have don't transfer over to you, that's why many characters comment on Kris' strange behavior when you go around talking to people in town, that's why when you play the piano nothing but a crooked note comes out.
They're is pissed off because you're embarrassing them in front of the person they likes and the fact that you have taken away some of the joy in their life from them along with their freedom.
And it's shown really clear in the snowgrave route. Because Noelle can tell that Kris is not himself. And she says that she hears a different voice from Kris.
I like how the "video game piano tutorial" searches are simultaneously a reference to the piano puzzle in UT (and how everyone looked it up) without being a straight up fourth wall break.

If this is true, I feel like it's very unsatisfying because we would be fighting against our protagonist for the whole game. I don't like it.

The vessel for spamton neo was born out of a "lightner's dream". that is probably Mettaton's dream.
It seems Kris is controled by the olayer via the soul. Kris is not the same as the player, and ypu are acting differently than Kris would normaly.
Kris moves weird without the sould probably because Souls are a normal part of all humans and monsters. This means Kris must have always had a soul, they player just took control over it.
Kris also seems to be the knight, who creates the fountains "Piercing the earth his blade". We know how but we still don't know why.
Ralsei seems to be hiding something. The way he acts seems "sus" as merg describes it (for example after spamton fight, he says it probably didnt mean anything) I don't think he is malicious, but he is probably gonna drop some big plottwist someday. Also don't forget he is almsot certinely related to Asriel somehow.
The king says “by the knights will I will destroy you” and makes other references to the knight. I don’t think kris is the knight.
@@pointe3347 same, my theory is Kris and the Knight are two different entities, because 1: Queen literally tells us how to make a fountain, letting Kris know how, and 2: How would Kris of all people know how to make a fountain before Queen tells us? Before the Player took control of Kris, they lived a seemingly normal and quiet life, everything went weird the moment the SOUL appeared, and whoever the True Knight is decided to turn the old classroom into a Dark World.
I think Kris decided to follow in the Knight's footsteps, as Queen also said "If the DT is strong enough, could not anyone make a fountain?", so Kris ultimately decided to test if this was true.

@@WhoStoleKirya73 There is literally no way Kris can be the Knight. The Cyber World was created while Noelle and Berdly were already in the computer lab, since they had all their books on the desk. And Kris was with Susie that entire time. Think about this: Why are we told specifically that a *large* person could fit inside the closet, in both pacifist and snowgrave? Berdly isn’t large, and in pacifist we don’t need to hide a body. There’s no reason that door would be open unless *someone* forgot to close it. Whoever was in there is the Knight.
i have 2 theory's on why kris makes the fountains:
1. maybe he's kinda bored so he wants to make adventures? (this seems to be the most unrealistic theory ngl)
2. kris is trying to take over the world but we as the player are trying to stop him from kris completing his goal (now this theory is more realistic)
3. Kris is a titan in disguise and is trying to bring his fellow titans back
Notice that Susie didn't actually call her parents, she waited until Toriel left, as indicated by the room exit sound. Wonder what that means 👀👀👀
we know from chapter 1 that her home situation isn't the best.

As far as I'm concerned, there was not a stated fact of human living with their soul completely gone, though it might've happened before Undertale in The War under some very specific conditions but wasn't stated, but there was a stated fact of non-human beings surviving without their original souls (like Flowey, for instance, living on a set amount of Determination fused with Will of the fallen Asriel).
Flowey actually might be canon to Deltarune, as the city is filled with Monsters only, without any human other than Kris (which I might be wrong actually, I hasn't explored much) the city looks isolated from human civilization, which, if the whole War thingy didn't happen, probably wouldn't have happened,
It isn't stated either that LoadedDisk has soul byproducts, which I think is actually the case because, firstly, it's still alive as a disk, and secondly Spamton doesn't seem to be run by a set program, having consciousness and stuff
Well, Queen described the creation of the Cyber fountain as the knight stabbing the ground with their blade from the heavens or whatever, it would not be crazy to think that soulless!Kris is the one that has been creating the fountains and the darkners in their inanimate form see it like Queen described when he does.

I think Kris' plan was to get Undyne inside the Dark World, what other reason would he have slashed the tires to get Toriel to call the police and leave the door half open? (Dunno about the TV, but it seems Souless Kris' objective is to make more people aware of the dark world)

How Toby manages to make such a captivating world and story despite it effectively being 2/7 of the way "completed" (yes, I know, there's a _lot_ more people involved in it) is something I might never understand, but that doesn't change me being thankful for the opportunity to experience it.

Alright, so - Susies’s visibly uncomfortable reaction to Rudy telling her that Noelle and “her sister” (Dess, as you picked up on) made the doll for him is one of many details implying that.. well…
Something happened to Dess. It’s not entirely clear what, exactly, but… nothing good.
Outside of this interaction, there’s a few other subtle hints at this:
- When she talks about how she kind of enjoys being scared now, Noelle frequently reminisces about times that she got scared when she and Dess were younger, and how, looking back, it wasn’t all that bad, because back then, someone was always there to comfort her.
She also mentions that the Dark World is the kind of place Dess always promised to take her when they got older, and remarks that “I wish Dess could see this” while staring out the window of her room in Queen’s mansion.
- And then there’s the big one. The word “December.” As you’ve noticed, this word frequently appears during events related to Noelle’s past. The tiles she steps on spell it out during her conversation with Kris in the city, and it’s the reason she lost a spelling bee to Berdly when they were younger, because she completely froze up at hearing it.
Even the narrator seems uncomfortable about reading the word, given that they describe the calendar in Noelle’s room by saying that “every month is ‘the last month,’ every day is the 25th.”
That last one is particularly important. Because what is Noelle (seemingly frequently) searching that made that made that calendar appear?
It is worth mentioning here that if you unequip Noelle’s watch from her in the Dark World, it turns into an item called the Wristwatch in the light world, which is noted to be an expensive antique that’s “stuck before half-past noon,” perhaps at 12:25.
The more interesting potential answer, though, especially given the theme naming of her family, is that she’s been looking up “(‘Dess’)ember Holiday.”
So… yeah. That’s… kinda sad, but also REALLY interesting to me, and I thought you might like to know about it.
Your 12:25 observation has got to be the most well though out connection I've seen yet. I never would've noticed that myself. Could be indicative that Noelle's mind is stuck on that date (maybe when her sister died?) just like the watch is stuck.
And also we know that her mother isn't treating her too well at home so maybe she blames noelle for whatever happened

@@Ekyuimha Ch2 took long because he had to remake the game a couple times whilst trying out new engines (which in the end he didnt like any of them and returned to the previous one) and he had serious wrist problems in the middle of it and had to stop several times to let it heal.

Now that you've completed this game, I think it's now safe to tell you that you're not done yet.
After you meet and recruit Noelle, go to Spamton's shop, freezing every enemy along the way. Do not use Kris for anything other than defending. If you're doing everything correctly, the walkway with the "Welcome to the city" text's background should be completely empty.
-If you wish to know more, search for "Deltarune Alternate Route".- I'd also suggest doing it on a separate save file.
Edit: the reply to this comment makes it much better, since the videos on this usually include spoilers. Just follow the instructions.
The other steps are getting the Freeze Ring by saying you and Noelle are "something else" and then saying "Get it" repeatedly, and then saying "Proceed" whenever the option appears.
And buy the Thorn Ring from the dumpster near where you could get the egg in the normal route and equip it on Noelle, then Check Berdly in the fight against him and do what it says.

@@dude-gj1lt (it is a koopa yes) I more associate Yoshi because the context is Asriel is confessing sins. Dropping Yoshi in a pit for selfish gain is seen as a sin in the mario fanbase. (If you didnt know, jumping off Yoshi gives you an extra jump allowing you to jump out of pits but also abandon Yoshi to the void)

What if the custom vessel we made at the beginning of the game when chapter 1 came out was a "backup" in case we completly lost control over Kris and we needed to possess someone else to re-enter the game.
That could actually be genius. Perhaps chapter 7 has Kris break control but we have our own vessel to go into (Perhaps in the... wierd chain of events) and continue on. (Spoilers) Maybe we fight Kris, Susie, and Ralsei with our own team of mind slaves from the other chapters in the ultimate plot twist battle. I would probably froth at the mouth in excitement if that happened lol.
Another theory kris will be the final boss and gaster will be the final secret boss (jevil and spamton neo being the first 2/6)
The game doesn't save the vessel, though, so it is impossible to bring it back.

This is what i thought too. There's no way the body you create in the beginning doesn't have any significancy in the story. The body must be like a replacement to fight agaisnt kris OR the real "Knight."

Somehow Undyne laughing about the Dark World gives me a feeling she'll be involved in the next Dark World. Dunno, that just always happens to a character when they act like that lmao. They be laughing when they're not believing something then the next thing the know that thing happens to them. Also, Toriel called police at the end. Undyne is a police.

So yeah, Shawm confirmed that the body Spamton uses for his NEO form used to belong to Mettaton

No, talking to Swatch reveals that a Lightner created the design in a graphic editing program (something like ms paint.) It's more likely Alphys who made it, since it's unlikely Mettaton would leave their house, and Alphys had the idea for the design in the original Undertale. It could still have been Mettaton to made the design, but it never actually existed; it was not anything more than a hope, or a dream.

One thing I think will happen is as you go through the chapters is that you will be able to read more and more of the upstairs books in the library as the person moves farther to the left, just a thought though.
Now that you've completed the game, I reccomend the Snowgrave route. It's very dark and challenging, I think it would be perfect for you!

I will say that the route is not that challenging in terms of fighting the enemies (except for the last boss) but the steps in getting the route is kinda complicated.

That ending left me speechless man. After chapter 1’s release, I thought this game was great, but didn’t seem on track to be as good as Undertale. I was worried by the fact that Toby said there’d only be one ending, and by the fact that the game tried very hard to emphasize that your choices don’t matter. But now after chapter 2, I definitely think it will surpass its predecessor by the end. If you didn’t know, on the newly released Steam page, it says “…And only one ending..?” Which heavily implies there will actually be more. And you’ve probably heard already because it’s all over the internet, but there is another route, so maybe your choices do matter after all…

Merg, since you've seen the ending now, I can confirm that Kris made another dark world fountain.
There's two sounds that sound just like the ending thing with kris' knife, being snd_fountain_target and snd_fountain_make. Kris could have also made the 2nd dark fountain, using Toriel's pie as a false alibi.
(edited because it was rather controvertial that I said kris made the 2nd fountain though there is no supporting evidence for it, and that sparked up a fire in the replies.)
Btw all the shows on the TV are gonna be chapter 3 characters, and the final show that played was a Dragon so... you know

it's assumed that that's also why Kris had such an extreme reaction to Spamton NEO, since Spamton was also a puppet (literally) and fucking died after all strings were cut. Kris knows they're a puppet to the player, so seeing that obviously freaked him out
My guess is that they come back for the SOUL because they aren't determined enough to live as a Soulless husk, and to not let they soul trap them in a room or something. The plot thickens...

Hey Merg, I just wanted to let you know that there is actually another ending to this game. Now, I know what you are thinking: "It is probably like the other slightly different ending in Chapter 1, because our choices dont matter in this universe."
Well, you are right, the choices of the 3 heroes doesnt matter. They are mere actors fulfilling a prophecy.
But, as you know, we actually got to have a party member that wasnt one of the three. Someone that actually may have a power none of us posses. And perhaps, this person may achieve to actually change some stuff.
Now, it is really important to not get spoilers, but at the same time you need to do some spesific things for the ending. So ill explain it as spoiler free as possible:
*HOW TO GET THE OTHER ROUTE*
The run doesnt start untill you get Noelle in your party and get seperated from Ralsei and Susie, so you can just do a normal playthrough till there. What you choose doesnt matter.
After you get Noelle, you need to go back as further as you can(which is all the way back to the Trash Zone) and get into every encounter possible. Now, here is the important part: When you get into an encounter, you dont want to fight or spare them. You must defeat all the enemies ONLY BY using Noelle's move _"Ice Shock"_ (Kris should defend each turn so you get enough TP). When the cars stops coming and roads are empty, you are officially in the run.
Once you are back to Trash Zone, go to Spamtons shop. The door will be locked but you will get some new dialog.
Next important step is interracting with the Ferris Wheel sign. It is important you should clear all enemies avaliable before doing this. When you interract with it and are given options, choose these two:
*"I will ride with you."*
*"Noelle will ride with me."*
After this, you need to talk to the salesman in the room and say:
*"We are something else"*
After this, the salesman will offer a ring to you. Just keep pressing *"Get it."* when given an option(keep repeating if Noelle refuses). Equip the ring to Noelle.
After this, you will get into a puzzle section. When you have a conversation with Noelle and need to choose something, say:
*"Its natural."*
After this, you repeat the same thing as in the beggining: Get in all possible encounters, and make sure you make Kris defend all the time while Noelle uses Ice Shock(reminder, fighting or sparing any enemy will result in exiting the run. All enemies needs to get frozen). When the cars on the roads stop coming, you are going the right direction.
Now, we need to do something a little more spesific. You need to go to the room where you get run over by Toby Fox. When you go there, instead of getting memed on, interract with the dumpster in the room. Inside you will find someone who will tell you how many enemies are left. Remember this, because they are crucial for the runs completion.
When getting into the second mouse puzzle room, pick the option:
*"Proceed"*
Keep repeating it untill the puzzle is solved.
After this, you need to keep count of how many enemies you froze. Whenever you reach the amount required by the person in the dumpster, go back to the dumpster you found them in immediaetly before making any story progress. When you interract with the dumpster, you will be offered a ring. You need to buy it and equip it to Noelle, since compeleting the run is impossible without using that ring. After equipping the ring, you can keep progressing.
If you have followed everything properly, it will be time for the Berdly fight. Before the fight, keep selecting *"Proceed"* when given the option.
Now, the final step. When you get in the fight, you will see that Noelle has a new spell. Just have both of the characters to defend to gather TP, and use the new spell. If Noelle refuses to use it, then just keep picking it over and over again.
Once you defeat Berdly using the nre spell, you have secured the run and cant go back anymore. Just keep playing as usual and you will see many differences, both in the Dark and the Real world.

I believe that Kris is the Knight who opens up dark worlds to have fun adventures with his friends. The next chapter will probably have Toriel and Police officer who is either Blook or Undine.
The one problem with Kris being the knight is that he couldn't have made the one in the Library. Their wasn't one there in chapter 1 and I doubt the Library was unlocked at the end of chapter 1. So theirs no time when he could have made it, and it seems like it was made while he was at school.
