    There are a bunch of comments here saying that Mariano wanting to run it once and then changing it to wanting to run it twice after seeing the hands is somehow “shady”. Even if this was true, which I don’t believe that it was, it makes no difference if he wanted to run it twice after seeing the other holdings. The equities don’t change. There is no advantage if you are ahead or behind in running the cards more than once.

      Lol thanks for explaining simple math. Now let me reciprocate with another simple concept. Variance. He wanted to reduce variance. Turns out the he was right. If they ran it twice he likely chops and makes a profit. If there was truly no benefit of running twice why would he change his mind “after realizing” the pot was big? Sheesh

    • @CrushlivePoker
      @CrushlivePoker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      @@zacht7672 the logical answer is the larger the pot the more you would want the outcome to approach the actual equities in the hand (the reason why you run it more than once). Why would that be shady? If I was involved in a million dollar pot as an 80% favorite it’s quite possible I would want the overall outcome to approach my ev of $800k rather than win 1 million or $0.

    For those that are interested, all players involved in the same pot must agree to run it more than once in order for it to be allowed. Meaning for the main pot because Mike X only wanted to run it once the main can only be run once. However in some casinos Mariano and Fransisco could run the side pot twice. Most likely, here on the show, there is a standing rule that all players have to agree to run it multiple times for that to be allowed (side run) to both speed up the game and avoid confusion for the viewer. If you allow the main pot to be run more than once when it’s not agreed to by all players the equities in the pot can absolutely change.
    For example, say there is a set over set situation where Player A who is the short stack has top set and only wants to run it once. Player B has middle set and his quad out is dead (0% equity). Player C, the other large stack has a big draw. If you allow the main pot to be run multiple times without player A (short stack) agreeing, you could have a situation where Player B gets half the main pot if Player C wins the first run, killing Player A’s hand then the second run bricks. Obviously Player B should never be able to win half the main having 0% equity.

    • @gg-qd3gt
      @gg-qd3gt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you please explain that in more depth??
      I don't understand your example.
      If the short stack won the 1st run, then he would win 3x of his stack. Then on the 2nd run, the other 2 players battle it out.
      The first run is for the main, and the 2nd run is for the side...
      I am confused by your example

    • @redbull4fly797
      @redbull4fly797 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gg-qd3gt He is talking hypothetical if the MAIN POT would be run more times without player A (which they can't, it would be wrong - other player would get an advantage), only side pot can be run more times without player A agreement (but not in this game/casino).

      Still doesn’t matter. Ruling should be if player that doesn’t want to run twice doesn’t win main pot then they should be allowed to run twice and that eliminates all confusion what’s so ever….. I always think the players in said pot should be allowed to do whatever they agree upon since it’s there money.

    • @CrushlivePoker
      @CrushlivePoker 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JusticeLoveOfficial all parties must agree to run the pot multiple times in the pots that they are involved with (main pot) otherwise it will change the equities. And it’s not the short stack that has some of his equity taken it’s actually one of the other players. I’ll be explaining this more in detail in a video I am putting out later this week.

    It’s tough to lose this way
    However. Mariano is a pro who until 3 years ago was playing 5/10 and 10/20 for max exposure of around 5k-10k per session
    Now however, he’s playing the big game with 100k behind like it’s nothing
    Given how much pain he felt, I know he’s already beyond where he should be for the ups and downs of this poker game.
    The rule is your discretionary liquid funds need to be about 50 to 100 times what is being risked in a single night/session

    I can’t help but think that a shove by Mariano pre-flop would have eliminated this outcome. I think Francisco can find a fold with two solid opponents shoving in front of him.

  • @TazControl9
    @TazControl9 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Yea, I think once Mariano calls Mike's jam and then gets jammed on, QQo is likely a fold.. Francisco's smooth call re-jam range should be very nutted.. of course seeing the hands, we know he's 2/3 favored to win against those exact holdings but... High variance plays, man..smh
    P.S. QQs snap call..

    • @nerdheid7306
      @nerdheid7306 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      francisco is not good enough to cold call a 3bet on the bu with KK+ 46k eff (actually think not a lot of players will cold call here since its utg open and 3b from utg1, those are very strong ranges). he will play it straighforward and 4b here. if he has like 15k or so, then he maaaaaybe he will cold call a 3b with kk/aa on the bu.
      and after mariano calls the allin, francisco snap jams. so it is allready unlikely francisco have KK+ here as played and even if there is a small % he will have kk+ he will not snap jam, he either min 5bet or he will take some time (figiuring whats better, should i min raise, or just jam?) and then go allin. never a snap jam imo.
      so as played qq is a snap call and hence the main reason mariano firmly said he wanted to run it once, cause he tought francisco will have tt-jj most of the time untill he saw francisco have ak and then he changed his mind and wants to run twice, cuz hes not that a super favor vs ak (mike didnt show his hand yet)

    Everyone slating Mariano for wanting to run it twice and claiming he only said that after he saw they both had AK, what does that have to do with it? The reason he wanted to run it twice was just to lessen variance. It has nothing to do with his opponents cards, he was a heavy favourite so what difference does that make? Even if he isn't a favourite he'd still want to run it twice to reduce variance. I think he just realised what a big pot it was and decided he was more comfortable spreading the risk, it's as simple as that.
