Few things- 1. For the last time, TRON is NOT in a video game!! It's in a mainframe. 2. This doc is a goldmine for animation fans, it opens my perspective for voice work and animation technique.
I love hearing about these old ideas like a "toy heaven" where toys live happily and don't get outgrown and a Buzz Lightyear cartoon which were actually used later.
Corey Burton is the narrator of this documentary. Imagine Count Dooku from Star Wars shows and video games, Megatron from Transformers Animated, Ludwig Von Drake, N. Gin, N. Tropy, Doc Hudson from Cars Maternational, Yen Sid from Kingdom Hearts and Epic Mickey, Nitros Oxide, Cad Bane, Braniac and Zeus (Both Hercules and God of War versions) narrating a documentary for Toy Story.
That whole Buzz cartoon along with Zorg became both an actual saturday cartoon & the intro sequence of Toy Story 2. It's amazing how they keep their ideas
+Yoshi yes, and that's how they got the idea to do the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command cartoon that was on Toon Disney (now Disney XD) in the early 2000s
When Tim Allen said that he would never do voice work again, that was before he voiced Buzz in the Toy Story sequels and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins, voiced Meldar Prime in the Jimmy Neutron TV movie Win, Loose and Kaboom and narrated DisneyNature's Chimpanzee
I kinda wish Disney didn't cut this down to 5 minutes for the 2000 Gold Classic Collection VHS release of Toy Story. This full version reveals so much more than my childhood tape.
The Concept with Tin Toy and the Ventriliquist Doll is similar to the plot of Toy Story 3! Woody's attempt to push Buzz behind the desk was a direct reference to the screentest of Woody being a jerk to Buzz! The original Buzz Lightyear show starter could be referenced by the opening of Toy Story 2!
Its hard to beleive Toy Story came out in 1995. I was 5! and at 20 years old I couldnt wait to see the 3rd one!!!! Grew up with toy story god damn it. They will make a toy story 4 by the time im 35 and i'll still be the first in line! ha
@zimshowfan It's alright. No worries =) ... I thought Toy Story 3 was the perfect ending to a great trilogy. I grew up with Toy Story. I saw the first movie when I was only 5 years old, then I saw the final film at the age of 21 as a college student, so for me that worked out perfect because I literally grew up with the films. I did tear up at the end of the film because it reminded me of my childhood and how I can never go back to it like Andy. It's sad, but perfect. I loved the movie =)
This is interesting, but there are lots of false statements in here giving Disney more credit than it deserves. Pixar created the CAPS system, Pixar developed the entire project, Disney distributed it. Pixar was a completely independent company at the time, and Lassiter had actually been fired by Disney before he went on to found Pixar.
@Sallyallie89 I don't think so. I've you've actually looked at both films (in ALL aspects) and STILL don't see the difference, then I don't know what to tell you. The animation difference between TS and TS3 is so plain that even the dumbest person I know can point it out. That's like saying that the animation on something like Hoodwinked is equivalent to Shrek! You might think so if you haven't paid ANY attention to the animation, but when you actually DO, the difference in quality is obvious.
@zimshowfan Low tech? Toy Story 3 came out not very long ago and it looked the same. I idon't see how one can say Toy Story is low tech, even in the year 2011. It's still amazing looking.
@Sallyallie89 DUDE! If you compare the animation difference between Toy Story and Toy Story 3, you'd see a TON of technical advances! Pixar has advanced FAR past Toy Story, man!
@zimshowfan I'm a girl, not a man lol. But I'll look at the differences again. I still say all 3 movies have amazing graphics though. It's not like the old King Kong vs. the newest King Kong movie, if you get what I mean haha. Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 3 look almost equally amazing with their graphics.
