That was my exact reaction. The first time I heard it. Except I knew that Ren rapping was fire. I don’t know why you look so surprised you should know there’s nothing that he can’t do.! if he focused on rap solely he’d be a top 5 rapper I guarantee.
I love the beat and the hook! I love the contrast in the cadences with Ren and Prof. Ren is a roller coaster of a human. Up, down, Exciting, scary, never boring. to a track. Btw, Prof did a reaction to this song on Insta & FB and said the exact same thing you did, lol. He said Ren killed me on my own track 🤣🤣, something like that. I like Prof a lot.
I figured their collab would be a moodier vibe like this. Lyrically I think they were even. Ren had the better scheme, but Prof's flow was impeccable. It's G-ah-m-p-o. Open wide. 🤙

It took a couple of listens for this one to snag into my brain, but since then for the last week it hasn’t let go. I really liked Prof’s beat and the hook that I now can’t get out of my head. Truthfully, there are some serious themes here about the relentless struggle to make it, to be successful, to be famous at any cost (selling souls, pimping pain, monetizing life for instagram fame)…all relevant in these difficult times. Of course the absurdity of killing a politician is all about the total corruption in politics and governments who have created such a toxic and divisive culture among the people with their never ending lies., gaslighting and fear mongering. They have all sold their souls and abused their power. They have made it damn near impossible for people to make it, especially the young people. They don’t seem to care much about the shit storm they are inflicting on we the people. Of course REN and Prof are not promoting killing but they are making s very clear statement about the culture of death we live in. I think the overall effect for me is a smooth and banging beat and a very good hook. It’s rap, it’s soul with some thought provoking themes at its core. I loved it. REN the man with a thousand flows and some sweet harmony in the background. These 2 have very different and distinctive sounds and yet it just works…I call it the magic of REN. The way this is arranged has his touch all over it and like every duo I have seen him be a part of…it’s very very good listening. I came to this one as a Ren fan, though I'd watched a whole bunch of stuff on Prof's channel (and gotvreally excited about it!) in preparation for this coming out. However, I still came to it as a Ren fan. He's my favourite artist of my 50yr life. Anyway, having said that, the voice Ren leans into in this one is my least favourite of all the ways he uses his voice and it most often leaves me feeling meh about his song. The lyrics can be poetic as shit, the wordplay can be top notch, and I'm quite prone to barely ever listening to it. While Prof came to this song with the voice I like THE MOST of his styles, lol, AND the poetry in his lyrics caught me AND he sings that great hook over that great beat. Prof takes this one over Ren hands down, for me. Keep in mind that I'm not a proper rap fan/not anyehere NEAR properly knowledgeable about rap/knowledgeable about what makes good rap *good* rap. I listen to Ren, and Ren raps, and has turned me on to Prof. That's about it for rap that I listen to. So thst's where my "review" comes from. I did quite like Ren's syllable scheme and the cadence it created. ... but yeah, that hook is a total earworm. Love the vibe of it.

You should get into Ren's Love Music series some of his best rapping. Been bumping this song everyday it really does grow on you and in this case Ren killed it.

I heard, and thanks for this comment cause I went to this Community page to read about it. That is absolutely ridiculous. The music industry will never cease to amaze me. Makes you not even want to get into it. I hope he gets that resolved.
I came to this one as a Ren fan, though I'd watched a whole bunch of stuff on Prof's channel (and gotvreally excited about it!) in preparation for this coming out.
However, I still came to it as a Ren fan. He's my favourite artist of my 50yr life.
Anyway, having said that, the voice Ren leans into in this one is my least favourite of all the ways he uses his voice and it most often leaves me feeling meh about his song. The lyrics can be poetic as shit, the wordplay can be top notch, and I'm quite prone to barely ever listening to it.
While Prof came to this song with the voice I like THE MOST of his styles, lol, AND the poetry in his lyrics caught me AND he sings that great hook over that great beat.
Prof takes this one over Ren hands down, for me.
Keep in mind that I'm not a proper rap fan/not anyehere NEAR properly knowledgeable about rap/knowledgeable about what makes good rap *good* rap. I listen to Ren, and Ren raps, and has turned me on to Prof. That's about it for rap that I listen to. So thst's where my "review" comes from.
I did quite like Ren's syllable scheme and the cadence it created.
... but yeah, that hook is a total earworm. Love the vibe of it.
