If I could, I would go back and do it all over again! (I am the black guy with the camera in his face at the end!). Marched with them for 3 years (05, 07 and 08) and this by far was my favorite show!
Holy shit! Sorry for the language. But HOLY F-ING SHIT! You guys tapped right in to the tribal nature of Queen in that arrangement. The blending guitar and other pit was perfect. Too often the traditional winds and new pit fight for presence but they complemented each other like I have never heard before. Still work to do on vocal - hopefully you guys can figure it out as no one else has either. You guys have left civilization behind and are flirting with a new frontier.
You must be from Texas if this is a "small" band to you. I'm from Kentucky and we've had a band make out state finals with just 9 wind players. THAT is small lol
How long does it take a marching band to perfect something like this? I'm a Brit so we don't have these at our universities or we didn't when i was at school. Marching bands are awesome
I marched in this show as a snare drummer. We started learning the show in August and this performance was in November. Lots of the performers had experience with high level High School bands and drum corps. Our instructors were people like Sean Vega: expert level teachers and show designers. That’s why we could learn the show so quickly.
Yes, we primarily played for back then was WBA and not for BOA/SCBOA. RCA dome was not forgiving for placing low end in the back and mid way through the season was discussed but would've required a drill re-write. That is why after the drum break 2/3 the way through you'll notice a drill design change that as a group they kept us off center field. They broke it down that the dome is like an upside drum. Hit from the sides you'll get better sound, but in the center it is dead zone. During rehearsal they also pushed us up 10 yards at one point in the end to have a little more. That's also why you'll see 5/5 sprint to cover mid field for us heavy brass in the end. sorry to be 11 years late.
Love the video but you're mistaken when you say that there are only two songs in this show. There are actually three or four by Queen included: "We Will Rock You", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Killer Queen", and "We Are the Champions" although I haven't really heard the last one, the announcer just states it's in there.
Hi! I'm from a danish marching band.. And I don't really get why you have a singer :) It's not a critic, cause it gets a whole other sent to it when you do it that way. -but your also like ten times more people than us x)
There was a music rule by the best WHITE jazz instructors!!! IT was "DONT PLAY LIKE A WHITE BOY!" everything here is WHITE, and square...SOO horrible !!!
This is what college marching band is supposed to be about: entertainment. I love RCC (and Fantasia, for all the guard people out there).

This is a small band, but it has such a huge sound, very impressive.

Depends on what you're trying to do, but it takes hours/days/weeks/months to perfect a show to this level.

Why limit to only instruments? Innovation is what Riverside band is all about.
holy crap. this was AWESOME. wacky wavy inflatable arm tube men.
guitars are usually with the pit percussion.
I heard almost nothing on the low end of brass.

Shoutout to Anthony Whitacre … ANGELO !!! 🎉
