My Dad was a machinist. When I was seven, I began cleaning his shop. By the time I was in 8th grade I was working on a lathe. By the time I was senior in High School I knew I didn't want to be a machinest. Metal is unyielding and cold. I found wood to be much warmer and the grains were beautiful. Plus wood is much easier to work with all year round.

I've been a woodworking hobbyist for over 30 years, and I grew up watching my carpenter father. I never knew about the rubber bands on the spring clamps. And the other thing that would have saved me recently when gluing up a cutting board is putting salt on the glued surfaces to prevent them from sliding. That alone was worth watching the 12-minute video. You have a new subscriber now!
