- From today, banknotes carrying a portrait of King Charles III will be issued for the first time, but with a move towards a cashless society, it may be some time before you see the note in person.
The portrait of the King will appear on all four banknotes (£5, £10, £20 and £50), but there are no other changes to the design of the notes.
The current series of the Bank of England notes has Winston Churchill on the back of £5, Jane Austen on the back of £10, JMW Turner on the back of £20 and most recently, Alan Turing on the back of £50.
But despite the launch, the new notes featuring the King will be slowly introduced to circulation. They will only be printed to replace worn ones and to meet any spike in demand.

Already have. They loan fictional money to people at crazy ratios. Banking went really off rails at end of second world war. USA became like world central bank.

This isn’t a flex. Having credit and debt allows you to do far more with your money.
I have 3 properties, a six figure pension, six figure ISA and a six figure GI account while being in my mid 30’s.
I grew up in a 2 bedroom tenement btw, absolutely nothing (not even my school shoes) were handed to me.

Correct, out of respect the Queens notes should be kept in circulation for as long as possible.
Such an idiotic British phenomena, making banknotes expire when not worn out. The very first Euro note ever made is still legal tender and accepted without question. Rules for the sake of it, incase anyone has some cash under the mattress, forcing them to spend it.

Stop being lazy and paying by card, use cash. If you haven’t got enough cash, don’t get into debt using a credit card, that’s what gives the banks all their power. Use it or lose it.

See little point in these since I have been dispensed only £10 notes from any ATM over the last six months- presumably in an attempt to undermine the cash economy by making handling significant sums more fiddly and inconvenient.
They mean about £7.25 since the Queen died. The way we are going they will buy any item in pound land.
