"thank you, fuck you" might be the most relatable thing any show has ever done. Parents, kids alike, everyone needs to be able to say how they feel

This show has had so many parallels to the Wizard of Oz during it's run. Ted is Dorothy, running away from his problems in Kansas. Nate is the cowardly lion, who learns to be brave, and grows under Ted's leadership. We've got Roy at the tin man, who becomes empathetic and compassionate under Ted's influence. Beard is the scarecrow, who becomes the brains behind the team's success with his football knowledge, chess skills, etc. You can argue Rupert is the bad witch or he's the wizard, a fraud pulling the strings behind the scenes. Some other tidbits - we see the house spinning while Ted plays pinball, the same that spins in the movie during the tornado scene. During the You've Got Mail scene, Somewhere Over the Rainbow is playing. The closing song of this episode is a cover of "Home" from the musical The Wiz, which is a reimagined story based off of the Wizard of Oz. Lastly Dottie, is a nickname for Dorothy, so we also get another Dorothy visiting from Kansas in this one. We know what the truth bomb has to be based on these parallels. What does Dorothy do at the end of The Wizard of Oz? She goes back home to Kansas, like Ted will.

I think the focus shifting off Ted is the show telling us that all the people he's touched are now better able to work out their own issues and are striving to be better on their own. It's basically saying that he's already helped them become better and if he leaves, they'll be fine.

So much happened in this episode that I loved! I can't believe we're to the finale now! I'm not ready. The look between Sam and Rebecca during the ending scene of "You've Got Mail" where Meg Ryan says "I wanted it to be you" was...interesting. The relationship between Roy & Jamie (total BFFs whether they want to admit it or not...lol) has become one of my favorite things in this show. Roy's goodbye to Jamie's mom was hilarious. The Beard/Nate scene - oh my heart. So moving. Ted/Dottie - again, moving. As a mom, what she said about there being wins and loses, but mostly ties. That got me. Seriously, one of the best episodes of the entire three seasons. Looking forward to your finale review!

I know the original arc was supposed to be three seasons, but if they bring it back, Richmond has to be qualified for the Champions League (Top 4 in the premier league). That opens it to so much. Saying that, there's been so much development around the show it's insane. I'm thankful for what we have but man, hoping for more; even if it takes a couple years with the strike(s).

i just love y'all's vids & will be sad that our next one is the final one. 😭 i'm also prayin for a three-hour series finale. lmaooo as much as i don't think i'm emotionally prepared for this series to end, the writers have done a wonderful job of emotionally preparing us all. i loved this episode so much, from jamie & his mom, to his dad in rehab (for a sec i thought he'd *_died_* when his friend said "would have been proud" 😳) to beard's powerful scene with nate. it was all just fantastic. i wouldn't be surprised if beard stays. i could see an emotional heart-to-heart with ted in the finale where he basically says that there's really nothin for him to return home to, unlike ted's situation. we'll always be bffs but it's time for me to stand on my own type'a deal. the thing that stuck out most to me in this ep was how when momma lasso first shows up, it's like everythang she did or said was annoying to ted. i was literally yellin at the screen "bro this is what folks had to endure when YOU got here!" they are literally twin personalities. 😂 i wonder how thangs will go with the rupert storyline, but most of all i wanna see rebecca's stranger make a return. 🥰 (pls do shrinking next! 🤗)

So like most, I do think Ted's news is that he is quitting after the season. However I think is surprised by the news that Michelle and Dr Jacob's weekend in Paris was actually them looking for a place to live in England am they can reunite Henry with his dad. The happy ending is that while Ted was willing to move back to the states to do what's right as a father he gets to do that while staying with the new family and life he has created in England.
Bonus, he ends up with Rebecca making her a step-mother, and thus all of the psychic's predictions come true.

@Joli Have you watched Ted Lasso? It's a show about (in Ted's words) always understanding that people might be hurting inside and trying to forgive. Jaime's dad was reprehensible, and what he has done can't be taken back. But he most certainly became that person because reprehensible things were done TO him in his time. Doesn't that warrant some empathy, or at least an open mind. Should a dog that was beaten for years and bites out of fear be put down, or should it be shown care and affection and given a chance to overcome its fear? Why can't his Dad Does be proud of his son seeing him overcome what he himself could not? [Heck, the show even made a point to humanize Rupert with the stories of him as a boy loving football.] If nothing else, why be so against his Dad being proud of him when it would mean so much to Jaime himself? Jamie is the only one who gets to decide how to react to his Dad, just like Beard doesn't get to decide for Ted whether he forgives Nate or not.

    A few thoughts:
    1. Loved the moms in the episode. I was irked with the abrupt arrival of Dottie but got over it. The last scene with her and Ted was so touching. Jamie's mother was perfection as well
    2. Nate's possible return to the team was tooo rushed. I couldnt see the guys really showing up asking him back, even at Huggins request. Or at least have them yell at him 1st
    3. These awkward googly eyes bc Sam and Rebecca these past 2 episodes is just silly. They dont make any sense. Sam has a possible romantic connection with the chef and boat dude seems like such a better love interest. They were cute while it lasted but let it go.
    4. Speaking of letting it go, Roy might need to let Keely go. Though he was the better dude, I actually think she and Jamie make more sense. Jamie's response to the leaked video. Keeley quickly letting go of Roy's hand. Jamie and Keeley are still connected. I know they slept together but I think they are done. Roy can date the teacher
    5. The green matchbook still doesnt make sense. What is Rebecca's mom future look like.
    6. Im glad Ted is going back to America but I really hope there is no chance in HELL he and his wife get back together.

I love that even minor characters are getting development. Jade is inherently a plot device, a motivator for Nate in various ways, even from her first appearance. She still is, but in a redefined way that's interesting. She's an active part of a plot now rather than a passive one.
Bex, pretty much drawn by necessity very shallowly originally, in her last appearance before this got some subtle but effective character development revealed by her sarcasm about Rupert, and now we can take some pretty good guesses what's happening next with her and the Assistant and Rebecca (it seems like a setup for the Assistant having gotten pregnant, then kicked to the curb by Rupert, then her revealing all to Bex as retaliation--with the likely outcome of Bex divorcing Rupert, probably taking his CURRENT Football Team, and Rebecca adopting this baby).
We got info on Mae in the last few eps too.
Heck... I'm half expecting the three Superfans and the Bus Driver to get some moments next episode too.

Was she passive, or does she simply refuse to give anything to people who are not honest with themselves or with her? I think she just has standards and until Nate grew out of his insecurities he wasn't worth her time in her (reasonable) opinion.

I initially watched it through AppleTV+, so ‘officially’ here in the Uk, but when rewatching I was using “different means” shall we say. Sure you can figure it out. Anyway, there’s a bit where Sam turn up at Rebecca’s house, and he goes inside and they kiss, and so on. On this rewatch - that scene was edited out.
Anyone know why? Was that a US edit? Or perhaps somewhere else?
Found it very strange but came here to watch your review if that episode, but can’t find it. Episode 7 is there, and then episode 9.
    Anyone have any ideas?

That scene was included here in the US. And when I used 'other means' myself. 👀 By which, of course, I mean deep meditation and memory association...

@@ulfsam-mule-son9726 I wonder what region it was edited out of. I only asked if it was the US because these guys are American, but my initial thought was maybe China, if it’s aired there(?).
Weird, regardless of where it was shown this way

Personally, I think Beard will stay and this will give him and Ted an opportunity to say their goodbyes. Beard has been loyal to Ted for so long, but I think he's ready to be his own man, possibly with Nate. I do think it will be interesting whether Richmond wins it all. I think the fans want it, and it would be awkward if Nate comes back and loses the game. Did they say who the opponent would be? I feel it has to be West Ham because of its relevance to Nate and Rebecca. Another loose end is Rebecca and Sam. I think it's a little late for Rebecca to be pregnant with the Dutch guy's kid. I think they might end with a scene a year after the last game where you find out how everyone ends up.

I’ll be curious if he leaves or if there is some twist (like maybe Henry moves there?) Also I’m wondering if we’ll ever see it addressed about Michelle dating their former counselor. I’m starting to think no.

Keeley might be finally taking time for herself and choose to do work on herself before jumping into a relationship again like she always has. Roy has to be patient until she finds herself. Empower Keeley.

I'm sure the last ep will be 3 or four hours long (please!) I think at this point the show trusts the audience to accept what's gone on off camera as the most likely thing to have happened, given the changes in everyone around Ted. I know Wizard of Oz is a big thing, but in a way he's Mary Poppins with a better accent.

Beard doesn’t need to leave with Ted. He can stay with Roy and Nate and get to be near his girlfriend.

Lol well it was a really long episode to edit, and I had a large project that required some field work/editing unrelated to this channel over the weekend. Trying to upload the finale today but getting hit with some copyright issues. We’ll get there 💪 -Andrew

im gonna use alot of wrestling lingo here... but here we go..Nnates redemption has been a let down because he didnt go full heel he should of gone full villain and at least half season be the bad guy but they didnt go full heel full bad guy and they started his redemption and face turn right away. it was very under whelming. they should of comitted to him being bad.

I don't like the Nate "redemption" arc. Why did the players go from fiery hatred, to "nate the great" without us seeing it? Feels fake and rushed.

"Why did the players go from fiery hatred, to "nate the great" without us seeing it?" Why the shift from hatred to support? We saw it with Beard firsthand in this episode - the answer is: Ted.

One of the biggest themes of this show is forgiveness and second chances, whether people have redeemed themselves, earned them, or not. We see Ted encourage Jamie to forgive his father. Has he redeemed himself? Absolutely not. Ted forgave Rebecca in season 1 when she didn't deserve it and he gave her another chance. Ted gave Jamie another chance to be on the team in season 2 before he deserved it, and he proved himself and he has been great since. Why does Nathan need redemption before coming back? Why can't we follow Ted's lead and example? We can forgive him, even though he has work to do, and hope he takes the opportunity to improve and make amends after he comes back.

i dont like it either but i dont think it was rushed if anything his redemption started in the first episode and i think he should of been the main bad guy . he didnt go full heel. they should of made him the main villain instead they started his redemption right away
