  • During media week at the grand opening of Disney's California Adventure in Anaheim in 2001, I had the opportunity to be one of the first riders on the California Screamin roller coaster. It was a fun experience to be a part of the park opening. Disney really went over and beyond setting up cameras on the rides to provide broadcast outlets with exclusive videos of their television crews riding the new rides. This is one of those videos.

Instant Nostaliga. It looked like it was scary without the countdown. And the audio is more changed.

Fantastic find! Gives a good example of the “changed” soundtrack that Screamin’ had. Hope you have more!

I am sad that they changed it, it was perfectly fine the way it was, I was in tears when I found out I couldn't ride it, it was the ONLY thing I came to Disneyland for, as well as the Ferris wheel, but it was closed for that STUPID change to make it the incredicoaster, In loving memory of California screaming 2001-2018

incredicoaster is honestly terrible, it feels like disney is just showing their IP's down our throats. California screamin will be missed 110%

@@FrappeInsider The issue with California Adventure and unfortunately it was why California Screamin' had to be rethemed is that the park was not well received by park goers and critics who felt the park was cheaply made and nowhere was this more apparent than Paradise Pier where the coaster was located. Overtime in order to increase park revenue and guests was to retheme certain areas of the park with more familiar icons such as the characters from Pixar. As a result, the park wound up having an identity crisis which is still on going and is likely going over time, find its identity by becoming some version of a Pixar themed amusement park.
I'm sure that such changes did not make people happy but on a business perspective, the fact that California Adventure was such a flop back in 2001, was enough reason to make some drastic changes in order to save and improve profits. Even at the cost of removing what the park was even all about (A park dedicated to the golden state of the US)
