Apologies for the misunderstanding in the video. I didn't sterilize the machine, but rather covered it to ensure hygiene during the procedure ✌

The tattoo looked exactly like the picture if you don't mind me asking what did you start off doing for your practice pieces.
I'm just curious I try all types of things I started with coil and rotary machines now I went to pen machines and have found the diffrence of the pen one to be a bit of a challenge but I think I have found the money of setting and depth gaining when doing it. The machines I use are cheap Amazon one like needle bee, posieden ect but I use full wireless pens for mine. I have a mix of 3.5mm and 4.2mm machines and found the 4.2mm works best for me.
I'm planing on getting myself the ambition torped machines to upgrade my machines . Since thus is just a hobby of mine no reason to spend 1k on a machine let alone 500 just for a machine.
I do tattoos on myself only or on fake skin. For my rotary machines I used hildabrands barrette and stealth for lining and shading. I have 11 types of coil machines one that was set up with a 16g connector to contact and armature bar and then my other was set to a 22g.
I can show some of what I have done on myself if ypu would like.
I know for myself that fine lines I have better control with my line work which is opposite than most people say it should be but with a 5 or 7 line you see more of my line work not being as crisp as I would like

In my opinion, it does not matter somuch what machin is, but what techniqoe and knowledge does the artist have. Some do very nice work with a home made machine. Great video, greeting from Slovenia.

When I first got into tattooing about 12 years ago I started with coil machines, rotaries were a thing but not to many on the market. After 4 yrs I gave it up because of life stuff but just picked it back up summer of '23. I bought new rotaries thinking that was the "standard" but then found out that Pen and even wireless machines were the new thing now. A bit frustrated having to buy the Pen style machine I purchased a similar bundle to your mine was from a brand called Wormhole. I praticed with it on fake skin and it did the job just fine, I then did a small tattoo on myself again no issues. Deciding to get back into tattooing fully I decided to purchase a 2nd machine same brand but their "pro model". Aside from size and thickness of the machine the only other major difference I noticed and liked was the LCD screen which let me fine tune the voltz. Lastly I purchased foam grips for the pen machines increasing thickness. Going forward I plan to buy a stencil printer as I hate drawing something then having to redraw it to make the stencil.

It also comes down to the stroke of the machine. I have found 3.5 is the base ground for stroke but I have also 2 that are 4.2 mm stroke and like using them

Yes you can and most machines over 200 dollars i feel are gimmicks. Tattoo machines all work very similar and in the 200 range you can find everything you need, adjustable stroke, 8 hour battery life, solid quality with 0 machine shake etc. Even though i haven't personally used the super expensive machines i believe they are scammy based on how people put out great work with cheap guns (look at prison tattoos by skilled artists)

I got 4 machine kits all $40 and under for my daughter and I to try out. They're all wired machines with a foot pedal. So far they all work wonderfully! Next step will be to get some quality needles and inks. After filling a few fake skins front and back I'll give it a go on my leg. I don't think I'll ever spend big $$ on a machine. Having a few cheap ones means that if one dies on me I can just swap it out real quick and order a replacement.

People need to remember also this guy is a tattoo artist. If you’re going to buy a cheap tattoo machine, your tattoos aren’t going to come out like this first time, doesn’t meant the machine is crap

    • @MiddleCrossMinistry
      @MiddleCrossMinistry หลายเดือนก่อน

That's not up to the machine though, friend. Sharp needle, smooth running motor, good ink. That's the only thing that matters.

  • @KepperX3

I use a wormhole tattoo gun that I got for 60 bucks on Amazon. It has worked with zero issues whatsoever, 4mm stroke and I’ve done easily over 100 tattoos with it. I think people should stop worrying so much about the machine. They all do the same thing anyway. ALL THEY GOTTA DO IS STAB A NEEDLE IN YOU. It’s not that hard. What DOES make a massive difference imo is ink and needles. Those are everything.

I have this machine! Works great for fake skin! Mixed results on real skin but more likely due to less than ideal needles. Seems like it’s starting to break down on me now tho, made it thru probably 20 on fake skin and 5 or so on real skin. Think it’s time to invest in a better machine but worked great to get me started! Would love some recommendations for higher quality machines, needles and ink that work on real skin and don’t break the bank!

I got my self a dragonhawk atom kit for a little over 100 CAD. After a pretty relaxed and uneven 3 year work time it still does the job well. Its a wired one with a pedal. I have no clue about any of the specifics, but it jsit works, beautifully so. I cant really tell if its me messing it up or the supplys. I use dynamic ink, and fancier needles but i still mess up tattoos. Mostly on my dad- a color bleed here and there and i am generally bad at color packing. However, my gf, mom, dad and couple of friends have at least one or two tattoos of mine.

its funny you mentioned how important it is to have good equipment, yet the Japanese and Thai people tattoo with regular bone needles and ink, and it still comes out beautiful. seems to me like the tattoo industry just wants to make as much money as it can lol.

Thank you! ... this review is very helpful.
I bought an Amazon cheapo pen with 2 barrel batteries for around $150 to practice on synthetic skin. Also ordered slightly better than included needles and ink (BigWASP needles, Millennium Moms ink). Definitely not ready to drop $1k+ on machines, but was curious of the overall similarities on usability.

starting around 6:27 , when you begin to add the red, do you stop when you come up against the black line or does the skin that already had black ink get poked again with red? will black and red ink mix inside the skin to make a darker red along the edge of the black line? These are incredibly helpful, thank you!

You may be able to do it on fake skin but you should never use the ink that they send you because you will get an infection with that ink, I don't know what's wrong with the ink but every time I used it I got an infection in my tattoo, when I bought a different ink the infection wasn't there, so never use that ink they send you on real skin.
