    I really wanted to get the GN950 but like its successor, you can't get them in stock anywhere in the US right now unless you pay a premium. People are selling the GP950 for $1,250 to $1,300 and honestly, for that price I would just buy an LG CX 48" OLED over it. The price to performance isn't worth it at that markup.

    • @DisplayReality
      @DisplayReality  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure. That's why I'm holding out for 3080... I'm not ever going to pay Mark up prices... hopefully they can restock soon. Someone said LG has component shortage.. Thats interesting... all this chip shortage news is hitting home now... Thats unfortunate... they did have the LG in Stock for a wk before it sold out. I'll post again in the community when I see it...

    the problem is that hdr600 is not enough to get a quality HDR, you need at least 1000 and even so it all depends how the panel handles the local dimming. For ex. the Odyssey g9 neo was supposed to be the top of the line : 2000nits, Mini-Led etc but it handles HDR very poorly + all the same problems that have been plaguing the OG G9. If you want true blacks and good HDR get an OLED TV for half the price of these monitors. Just watch out for burning.

    • @DisplayReality
      @DisplayReality  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea... IPS in HDR is not an amazing experience. OLED or VA with alot of zones would be really helpfull for HDR600 but HDR1000 with Zones is awesome..

    RTINGS just released there Review of the LG 27GP950 Monitor 3hrs after my video and findings!! I am correct on my findings... The GP is lower in brightness than the GN. Real scene is sustained while I show alot of transitions.

    Love your intro music!!🔥🔥

  • @SamirSleiman
    @SamirSleiman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The differences are not due to panel lottery, because these monitors do not have the same panel. I've asked Rtings to check the panel model as the coatings are different. They replied: ''For the GN, it’s ‘LM270W8-SSA1’ and for the GP it’s LM270WR8-SSA1.''

    • @DisplayReality
      @DisplayReality  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rtings shows lower performance on the GP vs the GN on brightness. Give or take nits difference. LG has added 4k120hz on the GP so it's different as it needs to drive the panel faster. But they are not too different like 2 kinds of lines. To my eyes they feel, look the same. So just from a GN to GP name difference there is nothing that makes it stand out as it seems the GP is more refined plus any Firmware advancements software wise. One panel could easily be confused for the other on a blind test.

      Why is everybody so obsessed with 2.1 Hdmi monitors when there's only a few games that actually play 120 fps in 4k and they're not even big titles? The best games will still keep coming out in 60 fps in 4k. Developers will not downgrade graphics in order to run it 120 fps. 120 fps in 4k is not realistic on ps5 for AAA games.

      @@DisplayReality So after seeing RTINGs review and comparing it side by side indeed the new GP has a way better coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Are you sure you didn't swap the names by mistake? I sense the left monitor is more contrast and saturated (which is suppose to be the GP), while the right monitor is more bright (which it's suppose to be the GN).

    • @DisplayReality
      @DisplayReality  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The GN is and was always on the left. The GP is on the right. The menu shows the position. Honestly... I was a bit surprised. I have also seen another youtuber from Europe do testes and he shows the GP lower in brightness also. It Could be just our panels...? I will post another reviewers findings tonight...

      @@DisplayReality I am watching your video through my own 27GN950, I don't know if I am going crazy but it seems your description of both monitors in the video is NOT WRONG but just the other way around?
      In the video the monitor on the left is always looking slightly darker and saturated when your voice-over said it's the monitor on the right that is more darker/saturated, I am a bit confused about that.
      Can you rewatch this video and confirm is still correct?

    • @DisplayReality
      @DisplayReality  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No worries friend. Ok let's see. Try to view it in sRGB mode on your GN. Full brightness. I edited the video on my GP. They are so close that it's hard. But pls see my post around 3pm on proof that another reviewer is showing the GP less bright. I rewatched the video on my phone everything looks correct but 90% of the time it looks better on the GP and I think because of the blueish tint it could appear brighter under certain scenes. But 5% difference is about right. I'll make more Vs videos like I aways do to capture more of this. GN is on the left while GP is on the Right.

    • @DisplayReality

      Wow!! I posted my eyeball findings and rtings just released there review 3hrs after mine. I stand correct. The GP is lower in brightness vs the GN... check it out friend.

    I would only be using the monitor for pc gaming with display port and the gn is $170 cheaper. You think that is the better one to go with?

    • @kerim_og_9378
      @kerim_og_9378 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes ive bought it yesterday and I chosed the gn950 instead of the gp950 since I only play on PC, also you can do 160hz with DP 1.4 on both monitors, but with HDMI 2.1 you can only do 120hz on the GP950, so DP 1.4 is better anyway for this monitors

  • @delcastilloian

    Wait you said the GP is darker and saturated while gn is brighter....but its actually the opposite from what im seeing, you sure you didnt switched the name on the video?

    • @DisplayReality
      @DisplayReality  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The names are correct you can see by the menu in the video. The GP has a sloppy Local dimming vs the gn is why you may see it being brighter sometimes (the gp is more wide Local dimming but less bright on highlights). Rtings confirms my opinion. But they are super close. Nothing that says one is better than the other. Just my observation.

    • @DisplayReality
      @DisplayReality  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just set to Gamer1 and Contrast to 60-70. Brightness to whatever you like and it will be good. As every panel is different from the factory I can't tell you to reduce blue if you panel is more warm. On my GP it's a tad bluer but not crazy. I kind of like it. But in settings you can reduce rgb colors seperatly if you think a certain color is overpowering. Just lower 1 number at a time until you think it looks right.

    • @DisplayReality
      @DisplayReality  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly I am showing my 2 panels. Everyone's panels may vary slightly. But rtings and others confirm what I show. That at 100% brightness (call it panel difference or maybe LG changed the software or algorithm) that the GN is brighter potential but lower contrast vs the GP. It's tough. But if you lower the brightness they look identical.
