The amount of talent on that stage is mindblowing.

Went and looked up his site.. in the news section there is some news, in yesterday: "Mark will shortly return to the studio to continue recording for his next album."
Mark is 72 years old now, and still going strong! *thumbs up*

You really need to listen to the whole "Brother's in Arms" album, where this is from. Just turn off the camera, sit down someplace and listen to it from start to finish. You won't regret a single second of it.
I like Eric Clapton, but Mark Knopfler is just the greatest on the guitar. The way he was flexing just before the song started. (2:30) was awesome.

When you do that, use the MTV clip. Nice old school graphics. Some more facts, it was the first ever popular CD when CD's was in its infancy. As it was the first specific video aimed at MTV. Phonogram was the name behind most of it, Philips the mother company. You can use it as a gift to the Netherlands series 😂😂

I am 77 and still following Clapton since first seeing Cream in Philadelphia when they first started out. You are right, these great musicians have life long followers.

I am sure that this song was a hit in the USA as well. I don’t know if you ever watched the comedy show Perfect Strangers with the characters Balki and Cousin Larry. In one of the episodes Balki became addicted to tv, so Larry took away the remote control. Balki shouted out angrily: I WANT MY MTV!!
But Perfect Strangers is also long ago by now, so I can understand that you can not watch and listen to everything that has ever been made.

Mark doesn't do "Money for Nothing" very often since Dire Straits broke up, the Monserrat concert was one example, but he did do it on his tour in 2019 .. So I would suggest having a listen to the original Dire Straits version that was recorded when mark was about 35, and also him performing it when he was about 70 years old. I think a "grumpy old man" singing the song is quite appropriate to be honest. I am trying to find a recording with good audio, this is the best I've found so far. Here's a link to the Dublin 2019 Concert: th-cam.com/video/g1TQclfdKS4/w-d-xo.html
Here is a link to the original video from the Brothers in Arms Album. (remastered in HD) th-cam.com/video/wTP2RUD_cL0/w-d-xo.html

Watch the official video! Sure the studio version of the song will sound familiar.
It’s one if the biggest hits of the 80’s.

I keep recommending the live albums from Dire Straits: Alchemy is a legendary album.
BTW: They love to tease Sting with singing the start of this song. Just ignoring he is almost out of breath.
Not in this video because they slightly changed the song.

125k subscribers but less than 1k views for such a magical concert performance.
Must be a lot of subs, who like highly have never heard of this song before.
Unimaginable to me. Must be a large rock with a lot of people living under it. I often wonder why there are such a large number of subs here, when the viewing figures on 70% or so of the reactions are so, so low in comparison.
Oh well, it is what it is.
Great live performance anyway of a classic song, even if Mark does have to change some lyrics in today's PC/woke culture.
