While not a supporter in general of Polk, I have read a LOT about Bragg, and if there's a difference between the two, I would side with Polk. I consider Braxton the South's version of Grant, minus of course the unlimited troops you could send to their doom and still " win ". See Cold Harbor, Spotsylvania.....etc,etc...
