I did it! I hope this video explains the basics well and does NOT leave you more confused than you came. Please share this with someone who needs it. Keep Playing, Coach KoKo ♡
I’ve played volleyball for roughly 2 years now, and I wasn’t really taught rotations like my teammates. It was really hard for me to understand a lot of other videos (I’m autistic) but the way you explained it helped it make so much more sense. You are an absolute life saver, thank you so much!
I’m a guy and I started playing in 7th grade im 14 now in the 8 grade and koko has taught me a lot im really happy for you that you are playing sports you love even if you are autistic mg brother is autistic and he can’t play with me because he can’t talk (mute) and he has diabetes.
Thank you so much Coach Koko! I was just in tryouts the other day and my coach told me to study rotations and this video really helped. Couldn’t do this without your help! ☺️
i love koko so much. ive been subscribed since 6th grade because i really loved volleyball and i wasnt the best on the little team i was in, but now im in 10th grade and now im in varsity. i would not have been where i am now without koko. i love u!
Bro we have a game in 2 hours and we needed to understand rotations FAST (we're using 5-1), and this helped us so much. Thank you so so much! Much love- ckhs volleyball c team 💕
For me when the other girls were taught rotations, (over Christmas break) I was out of state and couldn’t make it to any of the practices so I never learned. This video was very helpful to clear things up on some of the questions I had, Thanks!
Thank you so much! This helped me understand the rotations a TON, and I’ve only been playing for 3 months and going to try out for a JV team in a couple weeks. The rotations were really the only thing I was confused about. Again, thanks a lot.
Thank you so so much! I had a friend send this to me since we are in a volleyball lesson for our 8th grade gym class and we are still learning certain skills (We go through a ton of sports to introduce the students and such). I absolutely love volleyball and I'm planning on joining it in high school so I really appreciate this!
Thank you so much!!! I’m a new volleyball coach for my school and I’ve never played competitively and almost all of my girls on the team have not either. Your resources and teaching is helping us build a program from the ground up. 😃❤️🙏👍
Thanks for sharing the online rotation tool it really made me more understand my position when playing with new people. It’s really difficult to understand the rotation when playing after finishing school with new people 😅
I am absolutely obsessed with volleyball. I've been playing for almost a year now, but I'm starting a new sport, can you please tell me how to balance those schedules. It's all for school by the way! I made the cheer team, and I'm gonna play vb, since its for school, both sports require after school practice every day. Please help! (If you need more info please let me know!) Love you! ❤️
you are my SAVIOR OMG you answer so many of my questions as im prepping for girls volleyball tryouts next year 😭😭thank you sooo much for helpin me understand!!
7:28 not when the ball goes over the net, you can switch position as soon as the service is hit, now strategically if you're receiving, you'd wait until you attack the ball to the other side before doing so.
I love your videos so much I’m a huge fan! You are such an inspiration! I started a year ago and you have helped and encouraged me all the way trough my volleyball journey!!
Question if anyone sees this. Do you only worry about the ones your between. So if your at 1 and 2 is ahead of three could be ahead of three and below 3 and still to the right of 6. Cause if you only have to worry about those two it makes it a lot simpler.
any tips for me? i’ve never played volleyball on a team so i decided i should try out for my schools team and i’ve been picked to attend seconds tryouts
Hello! I am Mallory and I love your videos! And I love volleyball I actually do rec volleyball I was going to ask you how you make your intro because I love it!
I was usually confused of the rotation when the ball is on ongoing. I remembered when i was just starting to play vb in hs, the setter is in the the p5 and i'm in the p3 so she pushed me at the side while holding my shirt(our team serving) but not totally occupy my position and she told me not to move. (In the mind i was like) Like what the h*ll do you expect me to do here?! Just wait the ball to hit me in the face!? Hahah but anyways i just followed her instruction bcuz i was clueless of how the position works. All i know that time was to serve the ball and spike. Ahaha and then eventually with hard work and discipline i learned everything i have to learn and that includes the moral, attitude and Of course the family i made out of it. Now i love volleyball. I just wanna share my experienced as a "rookie". Thank you for the info and i hope you'll make more content like this in the future for the "rookie" to watch cuz honestly it help a beginner a lot.
Hi, I can't remember if you've done a video about it, but I wanted to ask you: I play setter and I wanted to work on my finger's strenght, there are some tools like balls and stretch sort of bands that supposedly help with that, do you recommend them? or just practicing with the ball is just fine?
If you're talking abt some sorts of gloves or some stuff that you put on your hands for setting, she talked about it in a video, and she definitely doesn't recommend them
@@selman762 No, I was talking about a band that is used usually in hand therapy to strenghten your fingers (i googled it and they're apparently called "finger stretcher resistance hand bands"; there are also exercises with "stress balls"). More than for the shape what I wanted was to make my fingers stronger (like for example I found that push ups with your fingers or practice with medicine balls with little weight helps), and I didn't know if maybe simple push ups against a wall and just practice setting without doing other stuff would be enough.
Okay this is good. this is good. I actually a bit more confused in a good way. What the heck was the numbering system where number 4 is number 2 and 2 is 4?
has anyone gone to a nike volleyball camp? if so, i'd really appreciate if someone could tell me about it. besides that, i'm hung up on if i should choose a beginner or advanced camp -- i'm leaning towards beginner, because i've never been on a team or played many games, but i don't want to be stuck doing basic touches on the ball for 4 days when thats what i've been doing for 2 years. thanks !!
if you're on varisty, i reccomend it! If not, i think you should search for camps with all skill levels. Im not sure about your area, but in mine ive found camps that allow all skill levels, see how you play, then seperate everybody into their level and train!
hi!! im really interested in playing volleyball but im almost finished with school and thus unable to join a team. how would i go about seeking out matches? local gym events?
Just realized that my coach gave us (completely new players) one single game of 6-6 and then jumped straight into 5-1, now I know why I was so confused 💀
a few questions (anyone can answer if u know the answer/s) 1. 5-1 means 5 hitters 1 setter. do all rotations work this way?? where the 1st number represents hitters and second is setters?? 2. so a rotation is kind of like a play in football?? like a routine. if u have 2 setters on the court rather than 1, you would use a rotation so everyone can play according to the # of setters and hitters??? 3ish. and why does that change how everyone plays, so drastically?? okay 2 setters.. why couldn't it be the same rotation as if there were 1 setter?? pls help i have tryouts the literal first day of school (8/8/22).
6-0 indicates there is all attack and no “setter” positioning. 6-6 indicates that everyone shares the responsibility of setting when reaching a certain positions typically the middle front. Thank you for commenting! I will look into the 6-0.
The videos didn't really help while you were explaining the rotations. Watching the girls serve didn't explain the other players positioning . I'll check out the learn volley website. Thanks

Theres no learn volley link in the description. Could you please add it? Thank you!

5-1 -> 6:25
6-6 -> 4:10
As a first time coach that played over 20 years ago and was never taught this, thank you for a simple explanation of rotations!
Thank you so much Coach Koko! I was just in tryouts the other day and my coach told me to study rotations and this video really helped. Couldn’t do this without your help! ☺️

My school team does the 6-2 rotation (8th grade) It's really hard to memorize and go where I am supposed to each time (I'm a setter)
Thank you so much! This helped me understand the rotations a TON, and I’ve only been playing for 3 months and going to try out for a JV team in a couple weeks. The rotations were really the only thing I was confused about. Again, thanks a lot.

Watching this before a practice game with another school! Rotations are SO confusing for WHAT😭
Would the setter be in zone 2 or 3 in a 5-1 rotation?

I've heard of none of those rotations, Just "Base" "Serve receive" and the doughnut one.
But u just said what the rotation meant not how the rotation goes. Is there any video where u go more in depth on all of them?
Am still in confusion I don't understand rotation completely
oh this was released today-
No "6-6", yup "6-0" without setter.
6-0 indicates there is all attack and no “setter” positioning. 6-6 indicates that everyone shares the responsibility of setting when reaching a certain positions typically the middle front. Thank you for commenting! I will look into the 6-0.
