He also has a HPI based Kraken Class 1 with a 32.5cc supposedly making 5.5hp on knobbies also I might try and make a package deal on the 2 👍 I also made a mistake on first comment kinda as it's the Kraken Sx5 Sandrail to be exact that has the 34.5cc OBR with the SC and some other upgrades on it. It's on slicks for road use but comes with some knobbies! I just got a Hero 4 to go with my cell phone for video's just need to get everything setup as I have 14 other RCS rightnow all electric besides my fully built Jato 3.3 but want to get my channel up and running this spring as I live in Ontario, Canada so it's gnarly out for about another month with alot of snow, ice rain and -20/-30 celsius so thank god for crawlers to tide me over hahah I also have a crazy Arrma Limitless I have one test on at 114mph looking to hit 150mph before ESC upgrade as it runs a monster TP motors 5650 1440kv with a Monster 8s will need XLX2 to step it up I think 👍 Just love talking RC sorry for the story hahah
The smoke clearly shows that they were tuned differently, that'll make a huge difference by itself. The internals of the SC are super cheesy looking. I'd say it's a cute novelty thing, but buying a performance engine is probably a much better deal than strapping this to a stocker.

Kingsize001100 it's not a roots type supercharger...it's an impeller type...ever look inside a turbo ? Granted...this thing is only spinning maybe 36-40,000 rpm at most, wheras a true turbo will spin at well over 100,000 rpm. These small single cylinder motors require very little air and that large impeller (large for anything 20-50 cc) moves more then enough air to make a pound or two of boost.
A blower is mounted to the front of an engine like a Paxton or vortex and a supercharger is mounted directly to the intake like a Whipple twin screw. Hope that clarifies it for you.
...blowers, superchargers, roots, centrifugal, gear driven, etc, they're all SUPERCHARGERS if they're "belt driven"
This is where arguing with people who don't know what they're talking about, is pointless. They think if it's not bolted to the manifold, it's not a supercharger. *sigh*. If it is NOT driven by the exhaust gas being forced across a Turbine wheel, and is driven via shaft, gear, chain, or belt. It's a supercharger.
And to add to that, a "turbo" is an exhaust driven turbine supercharger, supercharger is a broad term encompassing anything that "supercharges" the intake pressure.

Obviously a lot of you guys don't live in snowy areas. They turbo and supercharge and put sleds on nos all the time. Especially the extreme mountain climbers. As for leaning it out yep it does but then you tune your carb or get a bigger carb to take advantage of the extra air.
Kris Bassett even the sand fleas out west & down south should know that. Out in the dunes turbo'd banshees are all over the place.
Im not sure you guys understand how a graph works, the sycronization of the video was just stupid cause the rpms drop in the video, but continue to grow on the graph. And please explain how the power drops all the way to 1 hp at 16,000 rpm.

thiagov6123 all internal combustion engines will show a drastic reduction in hp when pushed past a given rpm. That is why you try to gear your vehicle to keep revs where the power is at.

Interesting, theoretically all 2strokes are supercharged the piston underside is a reciprocating air pump. But it sucks the air in at less than 0psig so if you pressurize the intake you could get more combustion air into the cylinder. I have never seen this done before but I guess it works.

You keep saying stock, but at the beginning you said it's been ported. Now my question is... does the fact that it's ported with a bigger carb benefit the supercharger performance more than it does with just a carb? This should've been done with everything stock but the exhaust.

Bob, I have a couple questions; first, isn't the the pressurized air coming in as the piston is going up on the compression stroke, and therefore you will have an overpressured crankcase dampening the piston during the ignition, at least until it moves below the roof of the transfers and the pressure pushes out the exhaust? Second, wouldn't you need a specially tuned pipe, since you have a change in the gasses leaving the exhaust port? it seems like the timing to bounce back and push the escaping air/fuel inside would be different. I was surprised you guys don't have pipes tuned for your superchargers. I might be interested in a 49cc version if you ever make one.
the pipe will accommodate any amount of exhaust and work, although a perfectly tuned pipe is definitely better...also the piston is slowed down, but not as much as it's helped downward by the harder combustion.
If it weren't pressurizing due to the piston, he might see 50 percent increase

Johnny Vorschilde yes, most likely they would be 50 percent rather than 30, but the piston compressing the fuel-air charge dampens it a bit.

does work slightly your running super lean at idle to equalize top end with added air so slow take offs supercharger or turbo you need fuel injection and fuel maps to adjust the fuel curve during boost

Why does the dyno have a bigger pully on the bottom. shouldn't you have it 1:1 so the rpm is correct.

That’s a pretty decent bump, shame though that the belts break left and right, then it’s replaced about half a tank if ran hard, maybe a tank or so if your easy on it, they need a v pulley and a harder belt, something made from like radiator hose material, rubber with rope reinforcement, or even a clogged police system

OK, found the dyno vid. I would have like to have seen the fuel curved optimized on the base motor. If it was set up rich and the blower caused it to go lean it might account for as much as 20% of the increase. And not familiar with inertia dyno,
automotive dyno measures torque, torque is what does the work, hp is just a computation based on torque and rpm. If they haven't spent several hundred hours on the dyno ans shredded a pile of motors its still backyard amateur time.

Have you tried these engines running at sustained engine speed of 17,500 RPM, then you will see the difference. You have not indicated the engine temperature before getting the data and other atmospheric conditions.
Just my insights....
pinoyeh you'd obviously go to a taller gear set and try to keep the rpm's where the peak power is (11,000-12,500 or so) rpm does. Ot equate to horsepower. As you can see, the power rapidly falls off after 13,700 so why you'd continue to rev it higher is a mystery to me.
What engine was it tested on , as it can't work on our engines ,you need an exhaust valve system an inlet valve system , crank case induction not barrel induction (like ours ) the engine would be so modified that's it no longer an engine that would resemble a Baja motor , it can be done but only on special motor , some snow mobiles have them fitted but arnt a 2stroke in the common sence of what a 2stroker is ...?????

So amusing, the graph is shit, really, this is a complete joke, they let off the throttle and the line continues to go to the right, the bottom is RPM and apparently the rpm's still gain when you let off... All this system does is flood the engine with fuel and air and spilling loads more out through the exhaust.

twinkmaster2 what makes you think they closed the throttle at peak hp ? When forced induction is used on a two stroke, you often see drastic gains in mid range numbers and a sharp drop in hp numbers when rpm exceeds a given point. They tan the motor up to it's 16,250 rpm redline in both configurations and that's what the computer measured. Idle to 16,250 and back to idle with the peak hp being registered @ around 12-5 stock and 13,200 with the blower.
Did they jet the carb after installing the charger? If not, then they were faaar off the max output😐
The supercharger comes after the carb. Therefore an adjustment is not needed^^ it can help, but only a very little bit at max power, when the carb exceeds its usual airflow range

Red Long This test is completely useless... In a real car we don't test HP out in the Crank because its worthless and completely useless.. ANY ENGINE with no load can gain shit tons of HP out of the most stupid modification shit even changing the filter can affect your HP that is why we do a Dyno at the WHEELS because it takes into consideration drivetrain loss and total weight of the car.. Unless this is done in a BAJA and Dyno the wheels they cant prove they gained shit... Its like buying a brand new spanking Mustang Shelby GT500 and then realize ford just specd out the Crank HP and in fact your supposedly "500HP" car only has +/-427whp a rather different number you see.. If you put that into perspective this S/C can only be adding .20HP at most and that isn't worth the 275bucks price tag.. You could probably gain more than that with just higher octane fuel.. And well "Adding" its a wrong word since S/C don't work on 2 Strokes to begin with.

You can make 2 stroke engine work with boost. only thing is you just CANT make it without modifications to carb and other parts. Allso if you "un boost" boosted 2 stroke it wont work without modifications.
how about you dyno a nitro engine? Also, the data input can be modified on a dyno run. IE, Ambient Air temperature, air pressure, and humidity. There's also a HUGE low end lag, one I wouldn't say it's worth it u less you ran a higher rpm clutch.

For superchargers driven by the crankshaft of the engine, it does not matter if the compressor is upstream or downstream of the throttle body. For a turbocharger where the compressor RPM isn't directly tied to the speed of the engine, however, the compressor should be upstream of the throttle plate.
Oliver Österlind on a setup like this, you have to put the carb upstream of the blower as the carb is acting as it's own fuel pump and requires crankcase pulses to actuate the diaphram in said pump.

I got a super charger on my rc 5.9 nitro had it tested out.and.it holds 25psi thats more boast than real turbos work.that out.
Much lower cfm required, so it makes a higher psi easier

Shoddy "dyno" Snake oil. I've tossed lots of customers "power adders" because they are just jewelry on tiny displacement engines. We always recommend carb, crank mods and juicing that work opposed to bling that removes power.
Let me explain things to you people.
A supercharger uses engine power to create power. It's parasitic power. In the end there is something connected physically to the engine that spins something else to create boost.
Further more, any boost over atmospheric pressure is a gain. As long as the air fuel ratios are proper.
That means this is real and it works.
That is all.

You can't produce meaningful boost in an engine where the exhaust and intake ports are open at the same time, which is the case with all piston ported two stroke engines such as this one. Your BEST case scenario is you just push excess fuel/air/oil mix out the exhaust port. Any pressure gained from the supercharger is vented to atmosphere the instant the intake ports open, as the exhaust port opens first and closes last.
If you want to boost an engine you need to be able to force more A/F mix into the cylinder than will naturally fill it when it's N/A. And you can't do that in a piston ported two stroke.

You don't need valves to compress air. You just need restriction. If your compressor (supercharger) can push more air into the crankcase than can leave, then you get higher air density. It's not that complicated.

Something is out-of-whack with this video. The chart is wildly out of sync with the test. The L-R direction (X-axis) in the chart shows low-high engine RPM while the Y-axis shows HP output.... so, why does the RPM continuue to climb while the video clearly shows the engine revving then slowing? In my experience, most dyno tests need to be run over the course of at least a full minute to map power output over both engine speed and engine load changes. How do you "dyno" a motor without a dynamic load!?

+joshua arnott ... okay, that does make sense. the chart is the output of the test (not in sync with the video/audio) and it's basically charting the wattage at the flywheel as the motor revs to redline. the power increases are pretty amazing, in that case!
Dynamometers utilize a generator as a brake in how they're wired they provide resistance to the engine and by mathematical calculation in the software produce hp and torque readings. Same for motorcycle, atv, and auto dynos. I used to own one myself. You also have a delay from the signal through software to screen as well the video being synced. A couple milliseconds makes a difference but meaningless in the scheme of things. I'd say this is a pretty accurate depiction of their product. Yet in comparison to car Superchargers it would be considered very low quality but for an Rc car it's pretty rockin.

I would spend my money on a bigger displacement engine with the same foot print. Match a good tuned pipe. Like an OBR setup. An engine with this gear boosting power is just asking for 1/2 the lifespan. why bother.

Wrong! There are plenty of turbocharged (and some supercharged) 2 stroke engines ... i worked at a snowmobile dealership and we fabricated MANY turbo kits on 2 strokes ... all with massive gains. Tested with a water brake dyno.

That is true, but your engines have no where close to the torque value. HP can be found with RPM's, which is why your 29,000 rpm .25 can see such high output numbers to begin with. Indy car engines could be thought of as example. They are extremely fast reving and make huge HP numbers with such a tiny stroke, but if you put that engine in your typical heavy framed grocery get'r, you wouldn't get two feet before you burned out your clutch or stalled the engine from lack of torque to get moving.

hello cool guys. the first engine is ported.. the second one is not ported.....
ported means more duration, a bigger exhaust port. when you file the port bigger the power in low rpm is gone away... my ears hear an engine without power in the bottom end.
You always need some power in bootom cross motor power you want. not puch maxi effect or vespa ciaou
the super charger must take away a lot of power when it's not working at low rpm. also because the transmission is not geared down but geared up. my experience learns me always gear down from crankshaft when you try to gear up..... the engine dont like it especialy two stroke's they need to run free
