I bought the entire series a few years ago - never watched it when it was on TV but accidently watched a rerun years later and the rest is history. BEST TV SERIES E-V-E-R! in my view. I watch the series in full about once a year and never get sick of it.

Watching this show in 90ies while war was raging in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, will never forget this show. It was safe place to dive into. Loved every character, loved everything about it. Not just me, it was a huge huge hit. It was aired once a week late 10PM, usually winter time. Next day, my whole school, whole town would talk about last night episodes etc.
    The best TV show ever.

+Nancy Benefiel What an "odd" coincidence... Me too! I always loved this show, it holds a special place in my heart. In the midst of my post-op cancer treatment last year (radiation, pain, dehydration, food tube, occasional in-patient stays-it was so awful), this show brightened up my life so much! I bought the whole series from Barnes and Noble.
My vomiting always took place primarily between the hours of 3-3:30 a.m. for whatever reason. I have been in remission almost 9 months now! :-) I am so grateful and wish you a full remission/recovery too...

Spent some time in Roslyn, WA in 2006, last summer and this summer - magical ! The locals thought us a little crazy because we were so excited to visit due to Northern Exposure - thought its time had kind of passed (never). It's a great little town, very picturesque and very much worth visiting. Especially on a hot, beautiful summer day. The Brick fun and you can meet a lot of locals - and cute bartender ;)

I came of age as tv did when Steven Bochco created Hill Street Blues. Every television drama/dramedy can trace it's roots back to that seminal program. Bochco changed the face of the American tv scene. Your favorite shows today are great great grandchildren of that show. Writers under Bochco's tutelage went on to produce shows such as David Milch's "Deadwood".
St Elsewhere and Northern Exposure co creator Joshua Brand credited Hill Street as the best tv show ever made. I put it at second behind only Northern Exposure - the best tv show I will ever watch. It's been 30 years since the last episode, and no one has come close. I was a resident of the Cicely community. I hung out with my friends once a week. They are all treasured friends to this day.
Producer, David Chase, and much of his writing team moved on to make the excellent Sopranos, but they didn't catch lightning in a bottle like NX.
Thank you for making this homage to my dear friends.

Our favourite town in Alaska.....So sad to see them fade out, but as much as we loved them, and I'm one of their fans that periodically watches the series over every couple of years again, you realize that the show really did bomb towards the end after Dr Fleischman went back to NYC, and Rob Morrow bailed on the show..... The episodes afterwards were still ok, but you can tell they were sort of trying to "find their place"....Towards the end as the episodes came closer and closer, you start thinking, "what the hell is happening to the characters", the storyline is definitely not the same as before and by the time the show starts to wind down to the very end when they all get together at Maurice's home for one last show, you realize, it really was just done for 'closure'.... they needed to put the old horse to pasture... Sad, but I suppose necessary in TV shows or would have just started to smell like an old dead fish left out on a warm day for too long... It had potential, and we all think, who knows what they could have done if Rob Morrow would have stayed for another season or two, perhaps new adventures, new dreams, new schemes, our old favourite stuff we loved to see especially the kind of stories we saw in the first two seasons that made us fall in love.... Oh well, that isn't what happened....so we backed away slowly from the last scene, fading away in our minds as "Our Town"- Cicely started to get smaller and smaller and we simply imagine everyone getting older and moving on with their same old quirky lives, learning new lessons with each passing year..... That's how I will see them in my mind, still in Cicely- or NYC, in the case of Dr Joel Fleischman, but keeping in touch with fellow Cicelians and maybe even getting together for a nice reunion back in Cicely now and again for a new birth or wedding or just to get together, "northern exposure style"...

My favorite episode was when all were going crazy, because the ice was breaking up. In one scene, all were nuts in The Brick, and Patsy Cline's "Crazy" was playing in the background on the jukebox. Best tv ever: NE, Hee Haw, and Laugh In.

I finally fulfilled my dream and went to Alaska in October 2013. Yes, the people are a lot like the "Alaskans" portrayed on the show- warm, hospitable, adventurous, tough-
salt of the Earth people truly in love with their majestic state! I guess you figured out that I love Alaska...!!
