I bought the entire series a few years ago - never watched it when it was on TV but accidently watched a rerun years later and the rest is history. BEST TV SERIES E-V-E-R! in my view. I watch the series in full about once a year and never get sick of it.
This show had me pondering existentialism, exercising good will, and reading Jung. Of all the TV series I have ever watched, this one held the most lasting influence over my spirit. Thinking about a third swim after watching this. Thanks
I’m just coming up to 50 years,(old bastard) currently introducing my wife and daughter to it ,just bought the box set.My wife loves it to bits who wouldn’t ,thought provoking heart warming beautiful programme.x
Watching this show in 90ies while war was raging in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, will never forget this show. It was safe place to dive into. Loved every character, loved everything about it. Not just me, it was a huge huge hit. It was aired once a week late 10PM, usually winter time. Next day, my whole school, whole town would talk about last night episodes etc. The best TV show ever.
i missed this the first time around but much later, when I was going through radiation therapy for cancer, I watched it every day. I'd come home from my treatment, throw up a few times, crash on the couch and watch Northern exposure
+Nancy Benefiel What an "odd" coincidence... Me too! I always loved this show, it holds a special place in my heart. In the midst of my post-op cancer treatment last year (radiation, pain, dehydration, food tube, occasional in-patient stays-it was so awful), this show brightened up my life so much! I bought the whole series from Barnes and Noble. My vomiting always took place primarily between the hours of 3-3:30 a.m. for whatever reason. I have been in remission almost 9 months now! :-) I am so grateful and wish you a full remission/recovery too...
My wife before she passed away and I always watched this show. Quirky + and delightful to see some of the episodes again. This and WKRP, Barney Miller, Hill Street, St. Elsewhere, Red Green etc, all bring back fond memories of my wife and me cuddled up and watching all those wonderful ensemble characters.
nethoser Thank you for that. I'm coming around to our wedding anniversary and the date she died in February. That day is tough on me 'cause my son died on the same day, exactly a year later.
I watched the entire series when it was on television way back in the 90s.loved it then. Some time ago i bought the whole series as a boxed set of DVDs, and have only recently started watching it again. I think i am enjoying it more now than i did then. Some programmes don't age well, this one certainly has.
I don't live too far from Roslyn Washington where the exteriors were shot. They actually still have the store fronts set up for tourism. Great show. Thanks for doing this.
Great, great way to reminisce. Thanks so much. This is still one of my favourite TV shows of all time and this has inspired me to dig out the DVD box Set and watch them with my 19yo son to see what he things of just brilliant TV.
Spent some time in Roslyn, WA in 2006, last summer and this summer - magical ! The locals thought us a little crazy because we were so excited to visit due to Northern Exposure - thought its time had kind of passed (never). It's a great little town, very picturesque and very much worth visiting. Especially on a hot, beautiful summer day. The Brick fun and you can meet a lot of locals - and cute bartender ;)
Those who were beautiful then are beautiful now...those who were sexy then are sexy now...and those we loved who we've lost since then are still loved.
for a fanatic Northern Exposure fan like me the " then and now " was a great treat , thank you whoever put this together awesome indeed bijan from Las Vegas
I grew up watching this and it makes my heart warm when I see this! I recently started watching this again and made my wife watch it, she is younger than me and never saw it before
My favorite show..thank you for this..it was sure fun to see them! Got the series after all these years on Amazon for like 55 bucks. Watching it with my 90 year old mom..she can't get enough..Just loves it..thinks it is the best show ever too!
Greetings from Canary Islands! The best sitcom has ever made on tv. Pure existentialism, asthonsing characters and the best scripts that l've seen again. I love deeply this surrealistic place and l'd like to visit someday.
I never saw Northern Exposure when it originally aired. I didn't see it until the late 90's when A&E would play episodes early in the morning every day. I became a huge fan. One of my favorite TV shows ever. I wish a network would start showing reruns now so younger generations could become fans. I'd definitely watch, too. Love this show...
I don't know if you'll ever see this since your comment is years old, but NE is being revived. Announced in November 2018. They got everyone back on board.

The show was still being filmed at that time, before Rob left. I remember meeting the lady who owned the building that Dr. Joel's office was in and she let us take photos on the set..it was very cool and laid back..Wow, great memories thanks so much for this...thank you so much.....loved it !
Thanks for the memories! Like Star Trek & Sledge Hammer, NE is an icon of what the tv industry can do when they throw out their rule book. I watched every show when it came on & loved every minute. Thanks for the update & your time & effort.
THAT "JOEL" STILL DOES LOOK MIGHTY FINE! I started watching the series "NUMBERS" for the simple reason that HE (DR JOEL from NORTHERN EXPOSURE) was cast as the lead...then thankfully, that series did turn out to be pretty good & enjoyable to watch!
I recently have been watching numbers and love it but did not make the connection that he was the same actor. I guess because the brothers character is flat.
The first time I saw Diane Delano was on this show. She is hilarious! Saw her in MONK today acting as a truck driver.... I was crying! She's got to be my favorite actress

When this sitcom came out all of my friends told me that they finally made a comedy with my character in it, in the person of Chris Stevens, because of my culinary skills and the disturbing collection of eclectic knowledge rattling around in my head. We all watched it together for the duration. Good times.
it was my favorite show, and i even liked the final season. Having a chance for some obscure characters like Walt, Hayden , and Heather Haines to be developed was just a blast.

My favorites on the series were Ed, Marilyn and Chris the dj. Marilyn didn't say much but that was the beauty of her chactor. The actress is still pretty today. Wish somebody would rerun this wonderful series on TV.
