    I remember that video of Timisa. It was Limpopo that pushed the tree over and uprooted it halfway. Timi was still learning at the time so she was trying out new methods. She’s so smart. Her and Khanyisa have the best teachers.

    Makes sense how they use their tusks, after all they are somewhat considered teeth in a way...only placed in a different location, deep rooted and made of dentine instead of enamel . Great information and video. Learning so much from these informational videos on my favorite animal in the whole world!! Thank you Herd.❤ 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘

    It's really amazing how with the large sizes of their tusks and trunks they manage to feed on very thin and small branches, even stripping the branches from them. If I ever come across a tree or shrub with their barks stripped in the bush, I would not ever guess that an ellie could be responsible for that if not for these videos about elephant behavior. I really love that the babies, Timi and Khanyisa have made a lot of appearances in this video. I remember that clip where Timi was cleaning her strip of bark before eating it as the first video where I noted that she is very beautiful baby elephant. Somopane is indeed peaceful even with the way he eats. He exudes confidence and he just looks so cool breaking that branch without breaking a sweat. And Bubi is just amusing how she turns around with class after being reprimanded by the carers. And finally, my favorite part is when Jabu shared some branches with Timi. That was so just sweet. And their size difference there was really huge. Thank you so much for this video. I love the format. Please keep them coming. God Bless You All.🙏🐘❤

    People underestimate the intelligence of animals. Elephants are very clever.

    • @CristinaF210
      @CristinaF210 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      i talk about that almost everyday
      i keep telling everyone that animals are VERY intelligent as a matter of fact i believe they take only what they need which makes us well, stupid in a use of a better word, because we are killing this miracle world this planet with so much abundance.
      i also think they know something we dont and never will.
      that love and family is the most important thing in this world, we will never learn that, but they do.

    Very interesting video again at stripping bark Each one has his own methods Jabulani is showing little Timisa how to strip barks on bigger trees and she has been putting it into practice Then Timisa shows Khanyisa how to remove smaller pieces of bark from a trunk left by Tokwe but she got bored and left little Miss Sunshine on her own Khanyisa became very skilful with her growing tusks and new feeding technics Somopane and Sebakwe have such amazing tusks that stripping bark is no problem for them This only confirms that the Ellies are very intelligent and very aware of their environment in every season and harvest what is best for them while respecting nature.
    Thank You Adine, Tigere, Last for your welcomed comments

    This is similar to our Canadian beavers. After cutting down a tree that they like such as poplar they chew off the bark.

    Good morning! Thanks for these informative videos. Do elephants eat what’s left of the bigger tree branches after the bark is gone?

    • @herdelephantorphanage
      @herdelephantorphanage  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Elephants are quite resourceful when it comes to their diet. After stripping the bark from tree branches, they often consume the inner layers of the wood, which are rich in nutrients. However, they don't typically eat the larger, tougher parts of the branches. Instead, they focus on the softer, more digestible parts.

    Khanyisa is very good now at stripping bark. And today I notice that her tusks have grown longer. Must be from calcium she got from the milk.

    Debarking is such a painstaking task! It's a wonder they ever feel satisfied after so much hard work for such a small amount. Must be worth all the effort! 🥰🙏❤️🐘

    If you gave an elephant a chalkboard to play with, would their faces match some of ours whenever someone scratches one?

    • @herdelephantorphanage
      @herdelephantorphanage  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's an amusing thought! Elephants have incredibly sensitive hearing, so it's possible that certain high-pitched sounds might bother them, just like the sound of nails on a chalkboard can make us cringe.
