Good video. There are a lot of us rookies that watch and learn from your videos. Proper use of any tool is important especially in a large garden. Thanks Joel.

I just wanted to say thank you, so much. You have no idea. I’m 7 months pregnant and have a mass amount of weeds in my flower bed, and my husband went and broke his foot so I have to do it. I’ve been using a shovel, that killed my back, and a rake didn’t get the weeds at all just kinda smooshed them, and my hand tools...well you can imagine how tiring that’s got.

Huge help! I just ordered my first hoe for my first home. I can't wait to use these techniques in the yard.

Mighty wide rows you got there.

yes it is way easier to just run my 4' tractor tiller right between rows. It cuts down on a lot of hoeing.

@@CollegeHillFarm That makes sense for sure. My 2’ wide TB horse tiller slips through rows with ease. Having room to move around sure makes things easy. 👍🏼👍🏼

LOL, I wish I saw this video ten years ago. I used the first hoe I handled like a plow, and viewed it like a high intensity workout :) I actually broke that hoe since I was slamming it down so hard, and got plenty of blisters and pains. I had fun sharpening it in any case.

This is what we call a mattock. It is a digger on one side and axe on the other. www.amazon.com/Truper-Herramientas-34242-Cutter-Mattock/dp/B00FMW7D7Y/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=axe+mattock&qid=1604083428&s=lawn-garden&sr=1-4

    • @CollegeHillFarm

Frequent breaks. I keep a lawn chair in the garden. Don't try to do it all in one day. Tomorrow the weeds will still be there.
