I kick myself now for not appreciating it like I should've.
I didn’t know of this band until I went to go see their 10 yr anniversary concert because they were playing another band I loved. I listened to the album right before I went and Needless to I fell in love with Mastodon
I'll always remember when I saw this song live, it was last month, they were headlining a concert with Opeth, this one, megalodon, crystal skull, some stuff off their new album and a couple others, it was incredible, one of the best shows I've seen
Brilliant!!! Next closest thing to mastadon is dream theater. On a whole complete level of their own. So creative and precise
The structure of this song reminds me of Sumeria by devin townsend.
How the song starts with emotional aura and then turns all active and confronting.
Air 5 for the Devin Townsend shout out!
Also, your channel name makes me think...SOAD???..
@@coltonschroeder2092 it is supposedly a wordplay on Meshuggah. There are several jokes on "how I like my coffee with sugaaar"
(If you haven't heard of the the band, quit everything you are doing now, and listen to them)
@@Krimson5pride Meshuggah is fucking amazing, I think he said SOAR cause they have a song(my favorite soad song!) called sugar. And in the song he goes “SHUGAAH”
How does this only have 500K views? Im speechless.
Some artists’ youtube channels are still occasionally reuploading material. This video was uploaded 9 years after its release. Pink floyd does it too lol
The whole song is a masterpiece but from 7 minutes on is absolute eargasm.
Status : LEGENDARY
Absolute masterpiece. Becomes more and more epic with each listen.
listening through this album right now, never heard this band before. The guitar solo caught me off guard. So fucking good
What a masterpiece
the most timeless classic
.:a masterpiece, always nice to hear it:. 🔊🎶👂🎶🔊
I have never commented on anything, but, this song Czar and The Last Baron are literally my two favourite songs of all time. PS totally love Loki, Tom Huddleston and Owen Wilson are brilliant, just needed to put that out there.xxxxxx
I love that tool and mastodon are close.. must be a sick friendship.
They're the two best prog metal bands that I've listened to. If there are any other bands out there similar in style and/or quality to either of them, I'd love to know about them.
Most prog metal that I know of is inspired by the likes of Dream Theater and that whole style. I enjoy What Tool and Mastodon are doing quite a bit more than bands like Dream Theater or Shadow Gallery. There is virtually no self indulgent wanking going on in this music. It is progressive in a very real sense, in that it takes the listener through a deep journey.
@@williamkoscielniak820 Well said.
@@williamkoscielniak820 You should check out Animals as leaders!
@@tristansacotte6937 I really like Animals as Leaders but sometimes it seems they're like the epitome of self indulgent wanking :)
@@williamkoscielniak820if you like mastodon you’ll love gojira that’s the holy trinity with TOOL
What a trip I love this song
It seems this incredible album has meant a lot to a lot of people. I never realised until recently the tragedy behind this album. When it came out I Loved it, and saw them play it. I was having a very traumatic time. It’s amazing how much in touch this album was. It helped me a lot. Amazing!
5:00 one of the best riff never heard
Good one but 5:18 is killer!
I'm baked as hell.. this shit is amazing.
What a masterpiece.
My top five album
I took a break from many things, including music, for the most part. This song hunted me down and dragged me back in. I love it long time, and ask for no reach around in return, or any such additional compensation.
This musis has been with for some Time now, and all I can say is Thank You Mastodon, you guys literally rock!
Saw these guys the other night and to my delight this was on the setlist. 🤘🏻😩
first cd i ever bought, i was 13 at easy street records while in seattle to see a concert. still loving the whole album to this day
Damn!!! Now that's a song!!!
I tried to learn this song on guitar. Now i have 8 fingers on one hand
Funny analogy. Frank Zappa used to call guitar a battle between a chicken and a spider.
If you're using too many fingers, it's over complicating the riff.
@@ryanpowell1849 maybe he said that about the shredding part of the solo
i consider myself an intermediate player. I'm struggling so much to nail the arpeggio patterns and conjugate them in both hands, in part I... Any tips?
After watching many lives, they made it seem so simple, but your left hand must actually be a spider in some arpeggios they make...!
@@brunocosta6849 learn to play banjo and comeback to this one 😥
It’s so much fun watching shogun and listening to this epic music
Just saw this on an acoustic set livestream from the Georgia Aquarium and it fucking ruled! It sounded so good! The whole set was awesome.
I clean the house and listen to Mastodon for 2 hours, i like this so much
The martyr is ending his life for mine!
_proceeds to play one of the most epic solos ever_
Was lucky enough to see them perform this entire album after between the buried and me completely destroyed the place.
Was as close to finding God as I've ever been.
