- Watch Byomkesh Bakshi's thirteenth episode 'Chiriya Ghar - Part'. Byomkesh Bakshi is a fictional detective in Bengali literature created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. He is one of the most successful and popular characters in Bengali literature.
Doordarshan now brings to you the entire series of this literary classic which was televised back in 1993 directed by the brilliant Basu Chatterjee. Actor Rajit Kapur played the role of Byomkesh Bakshi, for which he was highly praised. Ajit was played by K.K. Raina and Satyaboti was played by Sukanya Kulkarni who was the first actress to play the character.
My 8 years old son is asking if Rajit Kapoor is really a detective. What should I tell him? 😂😂 I said yes 😂😂

@Rathod Jigar actually,acting was better in those days. Actors focussed on their performance. Studied their roles. There was no high tech special effects technology . Most of TV artists had a theatre background and theatre acting is the most difficult. Acting in front of a live audience. No opportunity for retakes .

People say Byomkesh is india's sherlock but I like to say sherlock is hollywood's byomkesh :P
It cannot be said that. Because Sherlock Holmes came 50 years before Byomkesh. Moreover, Sharadindu Bandopadhyay was inspired by Sherlock's story and started writing Byomkesh's story in Bengali. So there is nothing wrong with calling Byomkesh Sherlock Holmes of Bengal and India.

Why do you people have to bring Ajit down? Yes, he is not as high IQ person as Byomkesh but he is very talented writer. In that era, people got to know about Byomkesh through Ajit's writing. Behind Byomkesh's fame it was the hand of Ajit's writing skills. Also don't forget that Ajit is always there for Byomkesh, whenever he needs him. In ep 02, Ajit was ready to be targeted by the killer, only for the sake of Byomkesh. Can anyone risk their life like that? In many instances, he takes care of Byomkesh's comfort. Like in onion juice will episode, Ajit stopped Putiram from disturbing Byomkesh while he is deep thinking. Also, Ajit was man of substance, Byomkesh could leave his home, his wife in care of Ajit. Can anyone be trusted like that? And let's not forger the kindness of Ajit, in first episode, Ajit helped Byomkesh without any prior acquaintance, he was even ready to hire a lawyer for Byomkesh when Byomkesh was taken to prison. Can anyone do that for stranger? Definitely Ajit is not a great detective like Byomkesh but he has his own qualities. So, please don't make fun of him.

At 39:49 : Byomkesh makes a mistake. Lalsingh was got punishment of 14 yrs of imprisonnement as confirmed by the owner of the colony in the beginning but he says aajanma karavaas.:-)
Aajeevan karawas is for 20 years and chhuttiyan hate ke 14 years hota hai. So BB was right.

Off late, quite a few films have come out in Bengali on Byomkesh Bakshi. I have seen other heroes, but Rajat Kapoor is unparallel. Looks like he has made the Mould, and everyone is casting on it creating replicas. Also hats off to Sharodindu Bandopadhyay for creating such a classic character. I still remember the days (2004 or 2005) when I was admitted to Pearson Memorial Hospital in Santiniketan with infection in the respiratory tract and finished the whole Sharadindu Samagra in a week in Hospital. I was doing my Bachelors then

मेरे बचपन का प्यारा धारावाहिक ब्योमकेश बक्शी इसके कलाकारों ने बहुत ही अच्छा अभिनय किया है ब्योमकेश बक्शी बने श्री रजत कपूर जी और अजीत कुमार बनर्जी बनी केके राणा जी दोनों बहुत ही बेहतरीन कलाकार हैं अब ऐसे बेहतरीन सीरियल कोई नहीं बनाता बासु चटर्जी का बहुत ही बेहतरीन निर्देशन है इस सीरियल में बरसों बाद फिर से देखकर बचपन की यादें ताजा हो जाती है
