I stumbled with your video because I was totally lost with today's themed (italicized clues), I have just recently started to fill out the crossword and let me tell you that your video is super helpful, not because of the answers themselves but because of the breakdown of your reasoning process. thank you very much! I will be watching your channel constantly from now on :)
Just had an amazing mondegreen moment when Chris was talking about the first themed answer, mishearing "we have an italicised clue" as "we have a Nutella-sized clue"
I found this one relatively easy for a Thursday puzzle and flew through it, not realizing until completing that I had spelled GaZpacho with an S (which I believe is an accepted spelling), and then it took me ages to notice the cross with ersatZ was the problem.. So easy to overlook.. D'oh!
@@webbraham2768It was definitely not a satisfyingly fluent solve for me. Knowing that I have something to look forward: Chris's solve is always a much anticipated consolation.

48A - I think one is more likely to say that a rope might tauten (which also works with the clue) than that a person might tauten a rope.
That was a toughie. But in hindsight the theme clues were very clever.

Chris, have you ever written your own puzzle?
I have found some well known ( in their day ) Clydesdale breeders in my family tree.
I know someone with a Clydesdale. A c-horse on the land.
Evan Goldberg is Seth Rogan's writing/directing partner
I got the theme after two italicized clues. Flew through in under 12 minutes.
I refuse to believe anyone is this smart.
Really didn’t enjoy todays puzzle.
Enjoyed the video obviously! I meant when I attempted it
