Alternatively the extra-grimdark option - Both sides become massive unstoppable swarms, the tyranids eventually beeline for Terra and the Orks follow them. Cos dat's where da fightin's at. Imperium ends up fighting two overpowered hordes as Kryptman's plan backfires spectacularly.
Has kindof already happened. Ghazghkull left Armageddon, went to Octarius, had some fun, and then left, taking with him a fleet of over 5 million ships towards Imperial space. He's been ordered by the ork gods Gork & Mork to gather a Waaagh like never before, unit the clans, and bring war to the galaxy, and he means to do it.
@@cgi2002 So it did! Looking forward to how that pans out, Orks always add a much-needed level of absurd to 40k's hot pot of Grimdarkness. Also eventually a new, bigger Ghazghkull model would be neat, prime-ork to counter the returning primarchs.
Brian Jones Well this isn’t the real world, Orks and Tyranids literally thrive off war. Orks get bigger the more fights they get in and their goal is only to look for a good fight. Tyranids use biomass to grow more nids, so yeah they are inclined to fight to consume more.
Ghazghkull is my favorite ork ever. He literally killed a nuclear mushroom cloud size monster by gutting it from the inside and is the boss of the entire invasion of apocalypse and has MILLIONS of ships at his disposal and BILLIONS upon BILLIONS of orks at his disposal. It’s bad ass
Let's remember that in the beast arises series there were orks so large that the imperium assumed they were gargants at first. Orks so large that other orks were riding on their power armor, shooting heavy weapons from fixed positions.
@@hectorandem2944 Oh yeah, it is. But to be fair, the Beast arises series was pretty insane. And the most insane part about it was that the imperium didn't get destroyed. And then they didn't attack but send diplomats. Ork diplomats. Orks the size of Ghazgul Mac Uruk Thraka. Two of them. And they delivered an Ultimatum in High Gothic that the Imperium of course declined. And yet holy terra didn't get destroyed. And yes, the orks had planetkiller weapons on said attack moon. They had Planetkiller weapons on ALL of their Attack moons. Yes, they had at least a couple dozen Attack moons. And yet the imperium didn't get destroyed...
@@KingQwertzlbrmpf remember tho, killing a planet is boring. The orks more than likely hoped the Imperium would say no, they wanted a fight. Their biggest fear isn't a fight, its winning, especially without fighting.

@@KingQwertzlbrmpf I don't disagree, but you never know, the 2 diplomats they sent could have just been orks that really just wanted to have a massive laugh, with the logic of "They'll never see this coming".
the more i learn of the lore the more i think the Orks where designed to always be as strong as they need to be at that time without becoming either too strong or too weak as to always exist in a state of permanent war and therefore permanent readiness for when they are truly needed, weak opponent weak orks, strong opponent strong orks, they can never become strong enough to win outright and never weak enough to lose outright because to my understanding as their opponent wanes on the grand scale so too would the orks
Totally Right! They have been the true defenders of the galaxy for 60+ million years. Its literal antibodies. Their wars with humanity were all just fun and play. See them really challenged and watch what they will become... As stated by Lord Baldermort
this could backfire massively in the general direction of the empire cause the orks in question are probably obnoxiously large and strong at this point , but hey at least the tyranids are having their shit kicked in , just imagine what a krork could have done
Yeah their breed in chaotic violent nature means they can never organize long enough to truly dominate as they just start to kill each other and break out infighting cripples long reach rule. I never quite grasped the "Whoever wins we loose" idea behind this scenario. Sure both sides get stronger in general after victory, but the orks don't get stronger in the same way the nids do. They don't evolve completely new life forms or expand a hive mind if they win. Also their ability to produce arms and armor does not change, so it's clearly better for the Imperium if the Orks win this. Also while this is going on, the imperium is relived of massive pressure in the area from the formerly 2 foes now reduced temporarily, to 0, allowing them to build up and prepare for the coming conflict. So no matter which way you slice it, this is a massive boon to the Imperium. A huge net gain even if there are problems involved later.
If the Orks win, it would have been because those who survived the endless war for so long became so unbelieveably big, strong, and smart, that they were able to overcome the ever adapting nature of the Tyranids. This would be nearing the level of power from the Orks that nearly killed the Primarchs before the Emperor of Man showed up. Tyranids adapt, filtering out all weaknesses and redundancies. Orks get better at everything, and I mean everything they do.
You realize orks get bigger and nastier the more that they fight. Imagine orks the size of dreadnaughts. The imperium has had problems with orks before. Deathwatch was founded just because of how bad the ork problem was.
Yes, the plan gave the imperium time to prepare for the inevitable onslaught. However, there are a couple big problems with that. The first is of course, prepare against what? Wether you fight Tyranids or orks is a very different matter. Tyranids are terryfying yes, but they are predictable. The orks on the other hand are completly and untterly unpredictable. And that requires completly different strategies and therefore different preparations. Furthermore, how much can the imperium really prepare? There are countless dangers facing the imperium from all directions, and those require attention right now. The imperium simply doesn't have the ressources to spare in order to prepare for the eventual coming of a threat when there are other areas that could use those ressources right now.
Orks get bigger, stronger, hardier and smarter the more they fight. The bigger the fight the more orks get together, get enough together and you get a waagh. Put enough orks together and their psychic links make them single minded and extremely potent. Their technology can far exceed that of the imperium cos everything they build relies on enough of them believing it works. Without the tyranid intervention they stay split up and infighting and a waagh only comes up every few hundred years, and only at the smallest possible size required to kick start one. If they win this the waagh will be so big in number due to the amount of food the nids have provided, with orks more powerful than custodes, building titans and warships that put mankind to shame. And if the nids win then they've absorbed so much biomass from the hundreds of billions of orksthey ate that they'll have literally limitless waves of bugs to throw at terra. There no foreseeable positive outcome for the imperium
Best idea ever: Force the Orks and Tyrinds into contact and sit back and watch the carnage. Also Ork Kommandos are one of the coolest lore units... Boss Snikrot is said to still be out there... Oh and the Blood Axes are the best ! Openly trading and in some case working as merchs for the humans.
I don't play tabletop, or any videogames related to 40k, but man, the lore surrounding this universe is so BADASS that I can't stop watching videos about it!
Frig yeah I use Deff Dreads! And I Deffs need another. They're more fun than moving 30+ models at a time. Plus, take 4 Skorchas and they're basically suped-up Aggressors. Can even shoot twice! A bunch of Power Klaws are good too.
I hope Guilliman brings some sense to the Imperium and starts allying with the more sensible xenos such as the Eldar and Tau. You can't just hate and fight everyone, all the time - sometimes you have to choose your battles a little more wisely than the Imperium currently does. The Imperium line that all xenos are simply bad doesn't wash: some are worse than others! Maybe an Imperium-Eldar-Tau axis could make actual headway against the Tyranids, Orks, Necrons and Chaos instead of the lone Imperium simply firefighting and barely-surviving.
Sanguinius It sure is "heresy": that's why only Guilliman would get away with such a massive policy change, and even then he'd be opposed by the Ordo Xenos and the Ecclesiarchy, to name only a couple of the groups who would be upset!
With a lil bit of polish here and there heresy becomes okay. Why not teach the masses of the Imperium that it was Big E who created the Tau in his wisdom to serve his crusade? What are the citizens gonna do? Question an official imperial teaching? Speak up against Tau serving the war effort? A heresy aint no heresy if the imperium decides not to label it heresy.
man id love to get a book on that war from the inquisitions perspective. from like, an invisible bunker or satelite watching the war play out and giving daily reports
@@MrBensella The Orks here are only fighting a single tendrill of the Hive Fleet... another has been destroyed at Baal with the most recent lore the main bulk of Leviathan has been destroyed, but many more Tendrills of Leviathan remain... not to mention the new Hive Fleets that arrived
I love the various wrinkles of the strategy in this part of the lore. Even though since the very beginning the narrative has been hammering the "Well, that just means whichever side comes out of it will be that much stronger", over the past 2 editions the writing has gradually drifted towards implying Kryptman's actions were ultimately justified and even though it has dire consequences, the alternative of trying to defend against the hordes of Octarius and the largest tendril of Hive Fleet Leviathan at the same time would have been so much worse, since Abbadon's 13th Crusade was about to start and Kryptman bought the Imperium time that it desperately needed. Also, the latest 'nid codex has introduced a new side. The fluff has shifted towards de-emphasizing the ridiculous efficiency of tyranid reproduction/biomass conversion; it *is* confirmed to be possible to deplete a hive fleet's reserves of biomass and meaningfully inflict losses on it, and they do lose a meaningful amount of usable biomass in the process of 'recycling' the remains of a tyranid swarm that has been decimated in battle. On the other hand, the fluff is also newly re-emphasizing that not all biomass is equal or equivalent for the tyranids. It is a matter of quality, not just quantity. So even though the tyranids are losing biomass in their war with the orks, the biomass that they are consuming from slain orks is much more potent... specifically, it is the kind of "potent" biomass that they need to create things like bio-titans. So even if Leviathan comes out of its battle with the orks considerably smaller, it will be a hardened, more 'elite' swarm with higher tier organisms... is it worth trading 100 million gaunts and gargoyles for 5 million carnifexes, tyrant guards, biovores and hierophants? The hive mind certainly seems to think so...
Nid Hive Mind: "So, you love fighting, you don't eat much and you breed like mushrooms?" Ghazghkull: "Ye, moar ar lezz. Luv da metal bitz too." Hive Mind: "And we don't need metal." Ghazghkull: "Ye, finkin' wot me finkin'?" Hive Mind: "Krump hummies?" Ghazghkull: "Na ya finkin' like da proppa ork!" Hive Mind: "WAAAAAAGH!" Ghazghkull: "WAAAAAAGH!"
If the Orks and Nids combined......The whole Universe would be fucked.....Chaos would be scared......The Necrons would just turn themselves off permenantly......The Tau would say fuck this....we tried but this galaxy is fucked.

Question: What is the name of the Ork boss that is in the warp leading a Whaag fighting on one of Khrone's planets, reliving the same battle against Khrone demons everyday?
Damn! You guys have really stepped up your video quality. Great job! There is one thing about the Octarius War that I've wondered about for awhile though. A lot of people are saying that no matter who wins the victor will come out stronger than ever. While that may be true on an evolutionary scale. Numbers wise, even if the Orks win, their forces will be severely depleted for a time. And I get that Tyranids just replenish their numbers when they eat a planet. But if enough bio ships are destroyed, the Tyranid Fleet could similarly be severely reduced for a time as well. It might be that the victors can be targeted much more effectively in the early days following the War's end. The IOM might be able to just sweep in and mop up the victors.
The thing is... if the Tyranids win the Octarius gets consumed...each planet of that empire having billions of Orks and natural resrouces... and ofc the Tyranids recycle their own dead... they won't be weakened if they win. As for the Orks...you might have fewer Orks but those that survived are HUGE...like mobs of Orks each one as big as a Tank..
Yeah, out of the 6 Clans, the Goffs are the ones that are most about standard infantry. Though Snakebite and Blood Axe might also be worth checking out.
If you're going GOFF (excellent choice btw) o recommend investing in at least 3 full squads of boys. Your gonna need bodies to soak up fire from gun heavy armies. Nobs are useful. But watch the point cost. Big choppas and kustom shootas are a good baseline especially with dakka dakka dakka. The bulk of our army has shit armor saves, so get used to the idea of fielding models just to lose then. Next invest in a weird boy. Da jump is super helpful for harrasing enemy gunlines. Lastly get your self some painboys and waaagh!! banners. Adding to hit rolls is always a plus. And the painboys gives your nearby squads a chance to feel no pain. IF you wanna play like an ork, warboss goes in front. You wanna play competitive, screen with troops and other bullet sponges. Personally I prefer playing like an ork so I don't win much in terms of competitive play.
Also what super important. Have fun with your army. Sounds tacky I know but seriously. Orks are a ridiculous army. Shooting skill is non existent but volume of fire typically is enough to scare whoever your playing with. When you get a chance use a bubble chucka. It's like gambling but without the bad! Always charge at 12 inches out, who knows, you might make it! Even if you don't think you can do something, try and believe that it can happen! The waaagh! is real and if you embrace the wackiness of an ork army, you'll feel it and then every game is just a matter of waiting for something ridiculous to happen.
This has to be one of my favorite videos. I have been too busy to find out what even happened to this conflict when I first heard of it. Keep it up! Is this story in codex or a book?
I have read about this never ending battle many times. I never get bored of it. I’m still waiting for someone to do a trilogy or more movies about the 40k universe. I just hope when they do it they do it right.
Sadly anyone with the budget to do it right will not have an interest in doing it right as supposed to doing it commercialy, hell even 'Treck with it immense and fanatical fandom couldn't stop the film industry trashing it to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
It's things like this that makes me even more of a fan of Ol' Bale Eye. Ghaz is literally fighting an entire Hive Fleet toe to toe, and he still respects Yarrick.
Mate this isn't Warcraft......It's 'Orks'. But good question......Chaos is evil Chaos....though Orks is more like a savage Chaos......I'd say that Orks are more chaotic though because of their constant need to fight......whereas Chaos has different factions and wants/needs.....like only Khorne and his followers are obsessed with fighting, the other 3 gods and their children fight for various reasons.....to inflict pain, to spread rot and corruption......to fuck with people or for revenge?......Orks just fight.......
I like the one story where there’s like three warboss’ that have the same name, instead of fighting each other for exclusive access to the name, they all went in opposite directions, attacking nearby imperial sectors
i was literally just thinking about how a war between orks and tyranids would play out and for this video to come into my recommendations is super uncanny to me lol
There is ony one solution to deal with tyrannids: NECRONS, while an ork waaagh can be significantly weackened by killing the ork boss. BTW the ordo xenos had a really stupid idea this time.
the giant hive fleet around the system the roks orbiting the planet and the shadow in the warp making travel so insane only orks would risk it imperial fleets wouldnt even reach the asteroid belt
@@ashardalondragnipurake the hive fleet is engaged in battle with the orks and logic dictates that if all 3 forces are equal or almost equal in power , then no single faction can fight a war on 2 fronts + if they disengage the orks to take on the humans , that would make for a field day for the orks and they would lose all foothold in that sector. Honestly , the imperium could harass both side to make them expend resources at the very least , since by the very nature of both alien races , they are unlikely to ever cooperate
@@ashardalondragnipurake the biggest problem with tyranids is that they can't lose the foothold on the planets , because they will be cut out of resources to keep their fleet going. Without a constant supply of biomaterial gathered planetside , tyranid fleets can't create new units or repair their ships , correct ? Can't you see now where the issue lies ? Tyranids not being native to this galaxy , can't call reinforcements , and all they can rely on is the biomaterial they manage to collect to increase their size. The problem with that is that the entire sector is infested with orks that can match their own aggresion and reproduction rate. That means that just holding a foothold against the orks probably takes a big chunk of the colected biomass. If the imperium attacks , that leaves tyranids with 2 options : 1. Fight on 2 fronts (groundside and space battle) and hope that their fleet is so vastly superior that they require minimal biomass to sustain and repair. 2. Disengage entirely from the orks planets and try to blitzkrieg the imperium and destroy them before they can call reinforcements, abandoning their supply lines in the process. Both options are terrible from a strategical point of view for tyranids , since 1 requires allocating resources in 2 places , and that would require a ridiculous income of biomass ....which they most likely don't have considering the planetside resistance is fierce. And 2 would require engaging in a space battle with limited resources , with an enemy that can reinforce their numbers if its not crushed fast enough.
Best way to deal witht he Tyrannids is not the Necrons, it is the true Metalmen. Artificial AIs with the ability to learn, adapt and replicate with the ability to create endless soldiers so long as they have the right artificial materials and energy sources. Problem is-- that solution pretty much leaves one with something almost identical to the Tyrannids, but without the weakness of having to consume organic matter to continue their mission of purging the universe of all life.

@@hectorandem2944 Oh yeah, it is. But to be fair, the Beast arises series was pretty insane. And the most insane part about it was that the imperium didn't get destroyed. I mean, the orks moved a rock the size an entire MOON basically through teleporation across the entire galaxy directly into the orbit of holy Terra itself.

They have been the true defenders

Yet can become stronger and bigger and not violent based on how big of a threat they face. Pretty intelligent design actually.

No doubt the Necrons would carefully watch such a scenario play out only to deal a L to the "winner" at the moment of "victory"...

Maff Bowers smells like heresy 🧐
yamir jose 😂🙂

*Dethklok is loudly blaring during this entire war*
Da Boyz probs tear up at hearin dis miracle of Gork and Mork
Nid Hive Mind: "So, you love fighting, you don't eat much and you breed like mushrooms?"
Ghazghkull: "Ye, moar ar lezz. Luv da metal bitz too."

The orks aren't very strong in space, it's the ground battles where they hold the Tyranids back

There is ony one solution to deal with tyrannids: NECRONS, while an ork waaagh can be significantly weackened by killing the ork boss.
BTW the ordo xenos had a really stupid idea this time.
what exactly stops them from exterminating the entire planet with both factions in mid fight ?
the giant hive fleet around the system
the roks orbiting the planet
and the shadow in the warp making travel so insane only orks would risk it
imperial fleets wouldnt even reach the asteroid belt
If the imperium attacks , that leaves tyranids with 2 options :
Oooh that was an interesting video, would love to hear more awesome battles the Orks have took part in. WAAAGH!!!

The Orks : " Jokes on you I'm into that stuff"
Just imagine the amount of corpse piling up that you aren't even walking on soil
Always watch your videos winding down in bed. I don’t play WH but the huge lore is just epic. Can understand why people play it.
Ready to see the Octarius Mission Briefing. My Evil Sunz ready to rock.
And it's confirmed! Orks vs Tyranids :)
Imagine the size of the army if Orks and Tyranids had banded together against Imperium of Men. Wouldn't that be the most unstoppable force in history or what?
Thank you for the great videos. My friend that plays Orks uses Killa Kans due to enjoying the kan walls style.
Watching this in 2020 under quarantine. Gotta say I like hearing about Tyranids vs non Imperium forces.
