My father loves Dr. Olando owoh from my childhood; being our favorite at home and in his car whenever we go to farm. This endears me to listening to his unique voice and melodious rhymes of his music styles up till date. May baba's soul continue to rest in peace and his legacy linger for ever.

I have particular attachment to Orlando Owoh's music of the 1960s. This one came into my hands via a friend on WhatsApp. This one is golden...(incidentally my birth occurred on the day the Nigeria-Biafra exchanged firepower to commence the Civil War - 6th July 1967). I will always cherish this!!!

Thanks a lot for this, I have been hunting for it for a long time. I was listening to this music at my brother's record store where I was helping to sell, by Igbobi bus stop along Ikorodu Road, a stone throw from Bobby Benson"s Hotel Bobby.
In those days, the area stretching from Ikorodu Road through Kajola market to Agege Motor Road, was full of music. Ebenezer Obey's Blue Spot was between Idi Oro and Moshalashi, Adeolu Akinsanya's band with his legendary trumpetist Piper Jay, was a staple at Western Hotel at the intersection of Agege Motor Road and Labinjo Street that terminated at Eko Boys High School which was not far from Birch Freeman High School. Sunny Ade was a regular at a house on Labinjo Street.
Moses Olaiya, Baba Sala, was living in a flat on the ground floor of an upstairs building by Idi Oro bus stop, and we would be watching TV in his flat peeping through the window. Fatayi Rolling Dollar was living in an upstairs building on Alhaji Lasisi Street, a side street to Agege Motor Road at Idi Oro. One of Victor Uwaifo's band members, one Bob Mutaba, lived on our street, Alamutu Street, he usually took home a big Citroën, the classic type that slowly sinks when being parked and slowly rises when getting started. Even some band members of S.F. Olowookere were renting rooms at our house.
The whole area was so lively, we had Domino Stores (supermarket) right at Idi Oro bus stop, Road House Cinema not very far, the whole compound was referred to as Ogba Kole after Kole James, the owner of Road House Cinema. Later came Rainbow Cinema showing lots of Indian films.
Sandwiched between all the buildings around Idi Oro bus stop was one Roadside Engineering, they had lots of heavy metals by the roadside, I remember one very large, heavy and very tall cylindrical metal that was always there by the roadside.
It was a good place to grow up; on our street, there lived Yorubas, Binis, Igbos, Togolese, Ghanaians, with lots of playmates.
The area was not necessarily idyllic though, I remember a man was killed and his body was lying around for many days by the walls of Rainbow Cinema. On Labinjo Street, a man stabbed another man to death and he stood by the body waiting for the police to come.
This music took me down memory lane
